So far, Big Fish Expeditions has run 4 trips to dive with Salmon Sharks in Port Fidalgo. We always use Ravencroft Lodge for our Alaskan diving adventures because they go the extra mile to make our trips special. ||The lodge itself is not luxurious but its warm, clean and comfortable; exactly what you need in the far north. The diving is good, the salmon shark encounters are challenging and exciting and the lodge owner/operator Boone Hodgins is always looking for ways to make the trips even better like squeezing in extra wildlife photoshoots with bears, otters, deer and his resident bald eagles. ||Port Fidalgo is a great destination and I wholeheartedly recommend Ravencroft Lodge.

A rustic lodge for the independent traveler, Ravencroft Lodge is a perfect getaway. Set amid the spectacular scenery of Prince William Sound, Boone and his family offer a warm welcome and comfortable lodging. This was our second trip and we enjoyed every minute. We took advantage of the fully equipped skiffs to catch our limit of rockfish and explore the coastlines of Fidalgo Bay. The ambiance is comfortable, like you're visiting old friends, whether its your first time there or a repeat visit. Definitely worth a trip!||Dena B.

Ravencroft Lodge is a great place to stay for a northern wilderness getaway. The setting is extraordinarily peaceful and beautiful. The accommodations are comfortable and well maintained. The staff is very friendly and work hard to make your stay pleasant and enjoyable. The food is delicious, plentiful and expertly prepared. The owner of the lodge has great knowledge and experience with the local animals and does a great job in putting you in the best position to see these in a manner that is safe for the guests and the animals. His expertise has been instrumental in capturing many great photos of Alaskan wildlife that would be difficult or impossible otherwise.

We traveled to Ravencroft Lodge in 2011 but I have recently only started adding reviews to the many trips I have made to Alaska. ||Flying into a remote lodge sets the stage for the excitement you are about to encounter, and the float plane trip in to the Lodge, located in Port Fildago did not disappoint.||From the moment we were greeted to the time we departed we felt like treasured guests. Our trip included a combination of activities including Charter Fishing, DIY Skiff Fishing, Kayaking the Glaciers, Sightseeing, and a walking eco-tour. Each and every opportunity in itself was perfect... except for the rain :)||The main lodge warm warm and homey and made for a great meeting place with other lodge guest. The meals were truly scrumptious, especially the dinners, complete with locally caught seafood and topped off with homemade desert.||The sleeping rooms were quaint and clean, not too big, but big enough for what we were doing. The shared bathrooms gain were clean and convenient, never having to walk out into the elements to relieve yourself.||I really liked how the Lodge was focusing on sustainability, especially with their unique hydroelectric system.||We were there primarily to fish, and that we did. Charter fishing made for easy limits of Coho, however the halibut bite was slow. The Viking Catamaran made for a nice fishing vessel, smooth ride, plenty of space, and easy to fish from.||Fishing from the skiffs DIYer style was a hoot, and we caught more fish than we needed, including a bonus halibut while jigging for salmon.||Dock fishing became another favorite, so much so I could not get enough, literally sight casting at moving Silvers.||The day at the Glacier kayaking was a memory-maker for a lifetime, singularly unique.||Throughout the trip we saw several bear, Bald Eagles, Otters, and even a Minke Whale that cruised by in front of the Lodge.||Our trip was so enjoyable that when it was time to leave we asked if we could extend our trip... and added three more days of skiff fishing to our already robust itinerary.||Sometimes 5 Stars isn't enough, and that's how Ravencroft Lodge was for us.||Sorry for the late review.||Troy.

8-25-17:
The remote Ravencroft Lodge (nestled along the wooded shoreline of Fidalgo bay within Prince William Sound) is a quality destination spot that allows you to dive, fish, hike, photograph or simply relax at your leisure without any judgmental pressure. I recently enjoyed a very successful 5 day self-guided fishing trip at Ravencroft with a good friend who has made the trek several times over the years. It was a trip of a lifetime! We caught fish to the point of humility (Silvers, Pinks, Rock Fish, Cod, Halibut, etc…)! In addition to the amazing fishing, we saw plenty of wildlife: 4 Orcas, 2 bears (walking the shore line – one possibly a grizzly), lots of Bald Eagles, plenty of Otters, some Seals, heard an actual wolf howl for 10 minutes, and even saw a black wolf on the shore line!
Boone and the staff at Ravencroft were very friendly and generous with their information and services. The hand packed lunches were really appreciated and more than enough to sustain your caloric needs until dinner time. The hot showers and home cooked meals were an excellent way to warm up from the outside Alaskan elements. Even the comradery with the other anglers swapping stories fireside was truly a delight! The amenities are comfortable and relaxing. The fish cleaning station comes with a natural view overlooking the bay. The packaging area is clean and allows you to put your freshly caught fish into the deep freezers immediately.
I absolutely loved the trip and would go back again! For a very successful adventure, give Ravencroft a try and let Boone and their staff up your game!

Let me start by saying the whole experience was fantastic! I'd give this place 10 stars if I was able to!!! Super family friendly! This Lodge is owned by a family that has built it from the ground up for the last 10 years. They try their very best to make your entire stay, whether it's your first time there or you've come back, one worth remembering! I had never been to Alaska before and I will surely be returning in the future! The food was excellent! All homemade and made me feel like I was at home! The hospitality is outstanding! Everyone is super nice and willing to help make your stay comfortable and enjoyable! They picked a wonderful spot to build the lodge, right on the ocean, you get the full outdoors experience! I know it's not always predictable when you get to see the wildlife, but during our stay we got to enjoy seeing a huge pack of killer whales! It was AMAZING! They had new babies and just something you can't get on TV! Also, we went at a time when the salmon were spawning! Never have I seen something as miraculous as them swimming in vast numbers up stream! There were a couple yearling bears that we on the shore line by the lodge. We found a bunch of star fish and crabs! The fishing was great as well! It did rain, but you can't control the weather. I enjoyed catching all the salmon and rockfish! It was definitely an experience I will never forget! Thank you Boone and Gina for all the wonderful memories at your Lodge! I can't wait to come back!!! I highly recommend to anyone who wants to experience the outdoors and wonderful Alaskan hospitality!

I cannot recommend Ravencroft Lodge highly enough! This is the only place in the world where you have a very good chance of interacting with salmon sharks! I have taken several groups of clients out there for diving and snorkeling and they all rave about the experience. In addition to salmon sharks, there are moon jelly smacks to scuba dive or snorkel with and epic wall diving. The staff always goes the extra mile to assist my clients. We have seen a huge variety of wildlife on the evening boat/photography tour- eagles, deer, bear, salmon in the streams, porpoise, seals, sea lions and orcas! The food is delicious, there's always hot water for a shower and I have never had a better experience at a remote lodge. Boone took us out silver fishing on this past trip and we caught several big fish! It is always a pleasure to go to Ravencroft.

My wife and I attended a week of exploration, entertainment, and professionally guided adventures in one of the world’s most beautiful amphitheaters. Every morning we rose early and were greeted by Boone with the day’s itinerary. After a delightful breakfast we sojourned into the Alaskan wild. We snorkeled with salmon, frolicked in a jellyfish swarm, and even swam with an iceberg! Every time I thought I had seen the most beautiful thing on the planet, our guide, Boone, would top it! The rustic cabin and lodge setting was a small but decisive step out of the digital, noisy, and all-too-often, stressful pace of the world, and a giant leap into adventure, beauty, and communing with nature. Ravencroft lodge was exactly what we needed to recharge our batteries and to remind us of how precious our world is. The adventure exceeded our expectations and left us hungering for more. I can’t wait to go back!
