Absolutely delightful owners and people that work there. The rooms were nice and clean, the bathrooms were also very clean. It's an old hotel but it's quite nice and inviting. We had a drink there and the owner prepared us something good we don't know what it was but it was delicious. Then we had a fabulous dinner, the food was outstanding and please order the french fries they are so good! We really liked staying there!

Room was quite adequate with both a King and a queen sized bed.. two sinks inside the room and two private bathrooms with tub/shower. Plenty of storage space too. All rooms are upstairs so there are long steep flights of stairs to navigate. Everything was clean me tidy if somewhat out-dated. The staff is very friendly. There are breakfast items set up for guests to help themselves.. coffees and teas, breads and English muffins with a toaster, a variety of cold cereals.. milk and juice in fridge.. all nice but some signage would help. Upstairs veranda and downstairs porch with seating for guests. Large restaurant downstairs s well if you want a hot breakfast.. or a nice burger at the end of the day.

The setting and staff was nice, but there were some issues. Upon entering the establishment I noticed it was a little dirty and noticed that as I entered my room. For the price, the room and bed size was good. Upon returning that evening is when things were not so good. It was very hot in our room and there was no way to cool it down except for the window. We got back around 9 and it didn't get cool until about 4 that morning. Next was our TV. There was no working cable TV, the box would flash a power light then power off. What did it for me was that there was no one there to help us with this issue. I stood at the desk for roughly 15 minutes and nobody was working. We decided to just sleep without a blanket because of the heat. The next morning I went to enjoy the continental breakfast I was told about. There were bagels, English muffins, bread, some oatmeal and cereal, and danishes. That was it. No jelly for the bagels or toast, no plates, and one bowl for the oatmeal. The worst continental breakfast I have ever had. I feel like if managed better, this could be a quality establishment.

An amazing place! The house is beautifully restored, with things to read and appreciate everywhere. As we waited for Jean to bring us the keys, we read a local newspaper article on the wall that informed us that Jean was actually the mayor of kingwood! Jean was very nice and accommodating, even gave us recommendations about the rest of our trip. We stayed at the inn for 1 night, drank and ate at the beautiful bar, which hosted a few extremely nice locals. We drank and had a very good time, Jean told us about his travels, we discussed local life and how it compares with life in our country(Israel) with a super nice couple that even picked up our bar tab! Thank you Craig and Donna!! You made our week and we will pay it forward!
The entire stay was incredible, this is a hidden gem!

Technical stuff:
The room itself had everything we needed and for a very good price!
Food was great! My wife got the chicken wings, and I had the all American burger. Everything was on point!

We were just there at the Restaurant. I had the biggest chefs salad you could imagine, my husband had the chili shrimp and fresh cut fries with garlic butter and parmesan cheese, you talk about out of this world. One of my favorite places to go. And it reminds you of being back in the old times atmosphere. The rooms have been getting renovated, I have never stayed there, but have been told it is a very nice place to stay.

I must say this. I have ate at numerous places from 1 stars to 5 stars and nothing has compared to the quality of great tasting food that i’ve gotten here. I have came here for lunch and dinner numerous time and every time the food was exact same as the last. All the ingredients are fresh. Herbs, spices, and garnishes are all home grown. The salads are so fresh. The pasta dishes are out of this world. The seafood is amazing. Steak is so tender and delicious. Everything is seasoned perfect and portions are quite large. You cannot go wrong eating here. The food quality and the price of things are completely mismatched. i haven’t found this quality of food in any of the restaurants on the entire east coast. I highly recommend you come here even if your just passing through. A dessert to finalize your experience will certainly not disappoint your taste buds. The desserts are home made and are a great ending to an excellent dinner if you have room for it. Thank you John for always catering to me and my family when we come here. The 4 hour drive is certainly worth the quality of meal we receive every time!

I work out of town for my job, and I have stayed in hotels for the most part. We had to stay here because our regular rooms we not available last week, I'm so glad it happened. The folks that run this place are fantastic, all of them are friendly and went above and beyond for us. The meal that we had was probably the best meal we have had in a long time. As far as I'm concerned, they will always get our business. The history of the building is unique, take the time to visit them.
