Penny University is such a breath of fresh air to downtown Modesto. The ambiance is so cozy and comfortable, it feels like a place you can stay for hours and hours. I had a pumpkin spice latte, the breakfast sandwich and biscuit with jam. The latte was delicious, not too sweet, huge fall vibes. The sandwich was really tasty with crispy bacon (I hate soggy bacon!) with a spicy mayo that really set it off. And the biscuit and jam was seriously top notch. Everyone I talked to was very friendly, service was quick, it's overall a great spot. I'll be coming here again and again!

Really lovely new spot! Bright open space and love the reading nook with a great selection of books. The staff was super friendly too and it was lovely but still enough seating inside and outside. Several people working on laptops too with a decent amount of plugs. Good to catch up with some, do some remote work, or read or just enjoy coffee. I ordered the hey day drink which is their match. It was SO GOOD. I was upset I didn’t get the large! Also had a cappuccino which was a bit strange. Not sure if too bitter or acidic or not sweet enough? I know staff is still in training. Excited to go back there though!

Awesome coffee!

I've been getting coffee from Penny University every Thursday and Saturday since they started at the Farmer's market over a year ago. The service and coffee is phenomenal.

Try the iced spiced mocha with an extra shot of espresso if you want to truly live 👍

Update: the food and drinks are great, highly recommend the BLT which has a delicious basil aioli to set it apart

I finally got the chance to try Penny University and it is amazing! The breakfast burrito and chai were both super tasty, but they have an extensive menu with lots of different options. I'll definitely be coming back to try more. I also loved the atmosphere so much. The decorations are super nice and they play chill 1950's music, so the ambiance is perfect whether you are on a date, hanging out with friends, or just looking for a peaceful study spot. The customer service was amazing, I got my food and my drink super quickly, and all in all it was a great experience!

I don’t exactly remember the names of these drinks, but these are the hot chocolate mocha drink with latte art and the Hay Day (matcha) at Penny University! It’s so cool that they just opened like two weeks ago too! We totally came here on accident and had no idea LOL Shoutout to the baristas who made our drinks so pretty and even brought them directly to our table 🥺 We added espresso to the matcha, and it was interesting haha the inside was nice and clean, and everything was new like the chairs and tables ☺️ Our total was a little over $13, which is not bad of a price! The bathroom is pretty cute hehe I wasn’t able to connect to the wifi on my phone for some reason even after typing in the password correctly, but that could have been my fault maybe haha It was pretty busy for a Wednesday afternoon! All the tables inside were full, and some people were even chilling on the tables outside ☺️ seems like this place is attracting a lot of people!

Best place for coffee in Modesto area! Gotta say better than Starbucks lol. Only problem for me is it’s downtown so it’s hard to find parking during weekdays. Wish they had a drive thru. Still it’s worth going when I can. Drinks are always delicious and they have great scones 🙂 staff is awesome too!

Really welcoming place. Tons of seating options whether you’re solo, in a group, or wanting to be inside or out. They even have a reading area tucked around a corner!
