I cannot express how much fun I had when I went on a dive trip to the Catalina Island. Mauri is as good as they come. He has an abundance of knowledge when it comes to scuba diving or water sports in general and makes sure you have the best time possible. Safety is his top priority and for a good reason. I never felt so much at ease having him as my guide. Highly recommend getting your certifications here.
The dive shop itself has everything you will ever need to get in the water. Amanda did a terrific job of helping me choose my gear and explain how everything can make my experience better.

I completed my dive master training through PSS with Mauri, as well as completing a humanitarian project in Latin America with him this year. Mauri’s knowledge of diving techniques instilled confidence in me as he ensured I understood every aspect of a rigorous professional program.

Safety is always a top priority at POWS. Mauri requires all students to meticulously check equipment before every dive and emphasizes the importance of proper buoyancy control, communication underwater and navigation.

I found out about this place almost a year ago and I have taken multiple courses through this place. Mauri the owner as well as the instructor does an excellent job in teaching. He has guided me through the process from switching from warm water to cold water (I had gotten my OW over seas before meeting Mauri), after several courses I am finally able to do fun dives with others without hesitating. I would defiantly suggest this place to anyone who either wants to start diving or wants to get back into diving!!

In addition, I have purchased most of my gear especially my wetsuit through this dive shop, thanks to Wendy who measured every pits and pieces of me to get me first and I think last costume wetsuit which I am in love with.

PS: if you have not done a Night Dive yet, I must suggest it, it was fun!!!

Fantastic company. Mauri was our instructor and so good at explaining everything in detail. He's a tough instructor yet very calm but certainly what you want when your in the open water relying on your equipment to breathe. Safety is number one in his book and he makes sure you know it. For the amazing instruction you get it's worth every penny knowing I have the confidence to dive safely and with a great respect for the ocean. Looking forward to doing a fun dive with Mauri!! If you're looking for a fin-tastic dive experience, Pacific Ocean Water Sports Dive Shop is the place to go! The owner is incredibly helpful, and the kind staff make every visit a pleasure.

I'm a university student working towards getting more required scuba dives in before the start of my scientific diving summer class, and I talked to the owner, Mauri, about needing people to dive with. This summer, he got me into contact with people who needed dive buddies, and I've reached my target number of dives thanks to Mauri and his team.

The shop is well-stocked with all the gear you need and is conveniently located for us south bay area folk, making it easy to drop by before your dive. Plus, it’s easy to spot with the dive flag out front. Highly recommend for all your diving needs!

Getting my Open Water Diver certification has been on my bucket list for a very long time. After retiring last July, I contacted Mauri and he very patiently described his teaching methodology and answered all the questions that I had about the course. I signed up right then and there and have been having a blast ever since. Since then, I've completed my Buoyancy and Trim, Nitrox Diver and Drift Diver (in Cozumel) certifications with Mauri and I’m currently working on my Advanced Open Water Diver certification. Mauri is an extremely knowledgeable and experienced Dive Instructor. I totally trust him. I look forward to completing more certifications and going on more dive trips with Mauri and his team. Thank you for the incredible opening chapter to a whole new book in my life! I am hooked!

I have now done many certifications, including through rescue diver, and two out of country trips with Pacific Ocean Water Sports. Since I walked into the store almost two years ago, I have found a group of people that I enjoy spending time above and below the water. The instruction, while very exact, is also amazingly comprehensive. This depth of instruction, and the high expectations, makes for safe divers and I cannot, and will not, fault it. The trips, both in California and out of the country, have been well planned, well executed and lived up to my expectations. I am looking forward to many more trips in the future.
