This is truly an exceptional hotel that is positively different from big, cooperative run hotels in Napa country.

My husband and I came here for our 10 years wedding anniversary to enjoy serene and romantic weekend and our choice to stay here really made our experience unforgettable.

We were welcomed with welcoming reception staff and complementary wines with snacks. We loved the hot jacuzzi which was empty, the pool is pretty cold but might be good in summer.

The complementary breakfast was thoughtfully prepared and so amazingly delicious. My husband had veggie croissant and I had ham and cheese quiche. On top of that; they had pastries that tasted like they made at the site. I am usually not a big fan of French bakes but I ended up getting two croissants .

We will definitely come back again !

Our one night stay at the Olea Hotel in Glen Ellen was outstanding! Catherine was a gracious and generous host - accommodating all our requests (and more!) when we decided to take a last minute trip from San Francisco to Sonoma for some much needed R&R.

Our (upgraded) King Hillside room - #16 - was gorgeous, with a fireplace, balcony, vaulted ceilings, and luxury bathroom with heated floors. We delighted in the snacks provided and the lovely view of the hills.

My husband and I also indulged in two spa treatments - the Swedish massage for him and the Cocoa Butter body scrub and wrap for me. My husband said the massage was one of the best he'd ever had; and my scrub, massage, and wrap was decadent and provided by Catherine - an expert masseuse.

We also enjoyed the hot tub for a night time soak, and the song of the frogs in the surrounding hillsides was a beautiful and soothing accompaniment. The grounds are lovely, with lots of tucked away spots to sit and enjoy the ambiance.

I really can't say enough about how perfect our time at the Olea Hotel was - we will surely be back and tell our friends!

The Olea Hotel boasts a beautiful ambiance. The queen room, as expected, was compact but clean. The furniture and design were modern. The property is beautiful. Organic wine was available in the lobby during the evenings. Two of the employees were very nice, welcoming and helpful.

However, our stay was disappointing. Olea felt like a glorified motel, not a luxurious experience.

The walls are paper thin, we could hear our neighbors’ conversations, sneezes, loud breathing, using water, flushing, walking in their room. The sound of water through the pipes was also quite noticeable. Fortunately, everyone behaved after 9 pm.
The mattress was hard and the pillow uncomfortable, we didn’t sleep well.

The parking lot is narrow and uphill, posing a challenge when full. Some spots are in a carport, others along the driveway in front of the rooms (your hill view is really parking lot and hills in the background), others downhill. The upper spots overlook the pool and spa. Kudos to the website designer, the photos are amazing and didn’t show the parking spots in front of the room.

There are nice restaurants just down the street, but you’ll have to drive as there is no curbside, no lights, and fast driving cars.

The breakfast buffet offered a variety of items, including what seemed (based on the huge kitchen adjacent to the lobby) homemade quiche, cakes, pastries, and granola, Bob Red Mill oats (needs hot water/milk), organic coffee, milk (including a non-dairy option), and orange juice. Good, but a far cry from the Google review pictures!

On Monday, however, there was only a thermos of coffee and a basket of store bought biscuits. I inquired about this with the young lady behind the counter, and she informed me that breakfast was not served Monday through Thursday. This information was not provided during our check-in or booking process. As a matter of fact, the website states: “Start your day with complimentary breakfast and unwind during our evening wine hour.”

That’s how we left Olea at 8:30am: a dark lobby, no breakfast, and an employee who needs some training on customer service and how to make customers feel welcome when they step in the lobby.

Olea's location and views are magnificent as always. The hotel has changed management and sadly there are no more 3-course gourmet breakfasts available, which was one big draw to the locale. |The hotel room we stayed at is starting to show its age (e.g. malfunctioning power outlets, scraped painting, etc.).|Overall is still good but not as spectacular as it used to be.

From the moment we arrived, greeted by Riley who took us to our room showed us around the property. Our room was lovely and a beautiful mountain view from balcony. Room #7! Wine and great snacks served daily and all day. And let's not forget the amazing, delicious breakfast every morning. Also a lovely swimming pool to relax in after a long day of wine tasting. Several great restaurants within a short drive. I would highly recommend staying here. Thank you to everyone who made our stay so welcoming and wonderful ❣️

Amazing getaway for a girls weekend. Incredible property (they optimize the space well), comfortable rooms, excellent breakfast. Quick walk to Glen Ellen Star for dinner. ||We loved it so much! Can’t wait to go back - it might become an annual tradition.

Big rooms and bathrooms, very nice front desk and breakfast staff. Always accommodating.||Nestled hillside and quiet except for a herd of deer making the evening walk through the backyard! Awesome.||Easy access to Glen Ellen and all the sites in and around Sonoma city and county.||We didn’t get to sample the all day free wine and very nice snacks, outside seating and fire pit, hot tub, or pool!!! We needed at least another day or two.

Great little hotel in Glen Ellen. Some challenges with the hot tub not completely functional. Otherwise, rooms are nice, parking is ample, breakfast could be better.
