My best friend and I recently stayed at Oglebay Resort for her birthday. We could not be more pleased. ||The service was top notch. Our room was nice and comfortable. The bathroom could use some TLC (the reason for the 4). They were refurbishing some of the rooms so I am guessing our room will be re-done in the near future. ||We had an issue with her car that resulted in it being towed to a nearby garage. The front desk staff was easy to work with to extend our stay an additional night and also give us late checkout until the car was ready for pickup. We walked up to the glass museum and were unable to walk down due a storm. I called the front desk and they sent Steve to pick us up. I called from the ice cream and candy store. One of the girls working there said she would drive us down if Steve was unable to pick us up. ||I am looking forward to more stays at the resort.

Very nice and beautiful scenery, thank you to Christine for the complimentary bottle of champagne as we are on our honeymoon. The chalet is rustic but modern. So many trails and things to do just outside the resort. Christine and the staff made this very memorable. And we thank you. Highly recommended

It looked like they were updating some of the rooms while we were there. The bed was absolutely horrible. I was alone for a work trip. The bed squeaked so bad when you made any movement. So uncomfortable I tried sleeping in the chair, and it wasn’t any better. The Best Western I stayed at in St. Clairsville was much cleaner and more comfortable. The property at the resort was absolutely beautiful. The breakfast at the skyline was phenomenal. Housekeeping tended my room well. I think with a few updates to the rooms this would be the perfect retreat.

We booked the Romantic getaway for Valentine’s Day and it was wonderful! Our package included couples yoga which was the first time for me and my husband. We really enjoyed it and I think my husband realized how much it might help his back problems. The dinner and dancing was perfect. I loved the food and enjoyed meeting new people at our table. It was fun to have somewhere to really dress up and be together for Valentine’s Day. We also enjoyed the cooking show about making chocolate but I think I would’ve preferred learning how to make some of the yummy pastries they have in the restaurant. The food here is top notch! Everything we tried was amazing. The nachos in the skyline restaurant are piled high out of tin can! Get them! They are soooo good. The only negative for me was the pool area-it seemed dated, there was drips from the ceiling, I felt like pool water could use a filter change or something. The hot tub jets really weren’t strong. The other thing was when we’re at the dinner the website said we would be able to have two free drinks at the bar but they didn’t want to honor that. Miscommunication. The people working there are really friendly though. We would love to come back here again!

We went in the off season 2/11-2/13 for our relaxing retreat. We had the warm pool to ourselves. The food was amazing. We visited the Good Zoo, we were the only people there. They let us in for free because some of the animals were inside, we loved it! It was the best relaxing, peaceful and private stay we had ever had. We saw the cute cheetahs up close. Petted the mini Donkeys ears. We feed the llama and goats. We pet a corn snake. Saw cute monkeys, sloths and an albino allegator. The wolves were beautiful! So much to see.

I was there as part of the Polka Festival. Even if there was no music the place was outstanding. Excellent restaurants with good and quick service with very good food; swimming pool, workout room was very large, plus so many things to do on grounds. I would gladly stay there for any weekend!

As always Oglebay never disappoints! Our family has been going regularly for years and is always a special holiday tradition for us! The room was very clean and nicely decorated. The service at the Skyline kitchen and Bar for breakfast and dinner was great! The service was fast and staff was friendly as usual. The light display is always well laid out and there are signs pointing you in the right direction to go. Our family always loves a good trip to Oglebay and we cannot wait to come back!

Our family loves being at Oglebay! I’ve read through comments from people who were quite disappointed about costs and amenities. We love the charm of the rustic cottages with a big wood burning fireplace. We largely ignore the TV and spend time in the cottage playing games, doing jigsaw puzzles, reading, napping and eating together in front of a fire ( special call out to Roger for so promptly keeping us supplied with wood). Outside of the cottage, we love to walk/hike around the property, visit the zoo, swim at the lodge, visit the shopping area (loved the tour and recommendations from Amy in the welcome center) and take in the ambiance of the lodge especially during a music program or complimentary hot chocolate receptions. Yes, it’s expensive so we look for special deals to maximize our budget. We seek the comfort provided by our cozy cottage but there are deluxe cottages and rooms at the lodge or chalets for more upscale tastes. We have always found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The Festival of Lights is a fun time to visit (I’d be taken back by the $30/car suggested donation, but it’s included with any overnight reservation.) The zoo is fun and has a reciprocal membership with many other zoos which adds value. We have a good time and always look forward to our next visit!
