Being a Carlsbad resident, I am very familiar with the Ocean Palms Resort and what it has to offer as a hotel/resort destination. It's phenomenal! |I recently inquired about utilizing their hidden gem, their "meeting" space for my wife's Celebration of Life, and the experience was top notch and VERY accommodating! The space & patio is superb, immaculately clean & landscaped, and includes an abundance of natural light due to their sliding door windows that surround the entire indoor space. I couldn't have asked for more of a perfect arrangement & venue for such a special & intimate gathering place to celebrate my wife with our loved ones and friends. |The hotel management went above & beyond to assist us on this special day, and for that, I will be forever grateful! Thank you, thank you, Barry and team!

The room was tastefully decorated and it even had a kitchenette with (mostly) everything you would need. The unit was ample size for two people and the king bed was comfy. Everything was very clean but I noticed caulk missing around the shower and toilet. Staff was very pleasant and Beau helped use use the washer dryer ap. It is located steps from the ocean and to local eateries. Excellent location with parking around the entire perimeter of the resort. Would definitely stay there again. It felt like you were in Hawaii.

My wife and I stayed two nights at the Carlsbad Ocean Palms Beach Resort in February and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Some highlights, pros and cons include:
- The location is fantastic, situated right across the street from the entrance to the public beach; you can see the ocean from the property, depending on where you're standing. It is also a close walk to many fantastic shops and restaurants right in the heart of Carlsbad Village. You can easily walk everywhere close by, without the need to ever get in your car.
- We stayed in a studio room; while on the smaller side, the room features a kitchenette with full size fridge, stove, sink, and plenty of cabinet space, which are great additions to have, particularly if you want to do any cooking. The spacious walk-in shower was nice as well. The room has a quaint, cozy feel with a beach decor.
- The only real complaint on the room was that the bed was a bit bouncy and not the most comfortable, but overall it was not too bad and didn't detract from the overall experience. There's also no closet, which is a little weird, but they do have a pull out hanging rack mounted to the wall where you can hang your clothes.
- The hotel structure is around the perimeter, with a middle courtyard-type area featuring multiple fire pits that run after sunset, which is a very nice area to relax and enjoy the view of the stars above.
- Parking is free around the perimeter, but is first-come-first-served so it may be hard to find a close spot depending on when you arrive.
- They do offer a free "breakfast", but it's mainly just fruit, juice and packaged snacks (though there is a Starbucks self-serve coffee machine in the lobby, which is nice). However, given the amount of fantastic breakfast spots nearby the lack of a hearty breakfast option wasn't an issue.
- The rate was also quite reasonable for a beach-adjacent hotel in southern CA, over a weekend and booked only a few days in advance.

Overall, we had a great time and would gladly stay here again.

Thank you for the opportunity to share our feedback on our recent stay. Upon arrival, we were immediately impressed by the property—it is absolutely beautiful and incredibly calming. The fire pits were a wonderful touch, providing a cozy atmosphere. The check-in process was smooth, and the customer service was exceptional. The rooms were lovely and comfortable, and we were truly impressed initially.

However, our experience took a turn when it came time to sleep. Unfortunately, the bed was very uncomfortable. We found ourselves tossing and turning throughout the night, and woke up with back and body aches, having hardly slept at all. Additionally, we were looking forward to using the jacuzzi tub, but were put off by some hairs stuck in the jets, which made us feel a bit uncomfortable. On a positive note, the shower was fantastic.

We really wish the beds were more comfortable, as we otherwise enjoyed our stay. If the bedding situation improves, we would definitely consider returning. Until then, we’re not sure we will be back.

We received an email asking about our stay and I emailed back and no response. Disappointed

This little gem of a locally owned lodge is fantastic, For couples or families - it's a great place to stay - free & easy parking - proximity to the beach and village.
We haven't yet stayed in high season - but notice many rooms occupied - but still plenty of space to enjoy quiet outside your room. Already booked our next stay.

This place is AMAZING... We love the customer service, the cleanliness, the hospitality, the workout area, the location. Can not say enough good things about this place. What makes it so great is the accommodations. Everyone goes above and beyond. I highly recommend it. We stayed with my husband's company and they treated us like royalty, but I am sure they would do that for anyone.

We spent two weeks at the Ocean Palm Resort in Carlsbad at the end of February and first week of March 2025. ||We would like to say that is a wonderful place to stay. The Pacific Ocean is right across the small quiet Ocean Street. Ocean Palm Resort is family owned for many years and there is always family member working at the front desk or immediately available if needed. However the staff is extremely capable and the employees are dedicated, hardworking, and always keeping the resort and rooms cleaned and the grounds and gardens beautiful. The fresh Starbucks coffee, tea, juice, fruit, and ‘mini muffins’.||In Carlsbad, besides walking the beach each day, we attended the Community Playhouse, and had dinner most nights in wonderful restaurants around the town square. We didn’t rent electric bikes or surf boards, but they are available a short walking distance from the Ocean Palm Resort.||Jim|Des Moines, Iowa

This little resort a stone's throw from the beach is extremely comfortable and between the spacious rooms and the beautiful garden makes you really feel good of staying there. Wonderful sleep quality with large, comfortable beds and pillows, great shower and air conditioning. I hope to come back on holiday!
