A wonderful experience! Our host, Kim, contacted me before our trip to arrange everything to my preference - even breakfast and snack items! I felt welcome even before I arrived. My room, the Queen suite, was gorgeous as was the entire house. Kim and Ben and their so friendly three cats made me feel comfortable and at home right away. When what began as a vacation visit to my eldest brother, who lives in Wise, turned into multiple serious medical procedures for him, I had to extend my stay twice. Kim and Ben were so flexible, and they even made multiple adjustments to accommodate one of my other brothers who came to help our eldest brother recover. They were amazing and so supportive in a very stressful time. Nottingham Place was sanctuary for me. I have NEVER recommended any other accommodation before, and I can not imagine any other place or hosts comparing favorably ever. My family and I will be back, and we will not stay anywhere else.

We had an amazing experience at Nottingham Place! I honestly was not sure how I would like the place, this was somewhat of a new accommodation style for us. I am thrilled to say it surpassed our expectations beyond anything we expected.

From the very start, the instructions for parking were easy to understand and find, getting into our room was explained very comprehensively, almost literally step-by-step. After we got into our room, "Holy cow!", it was absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Pictures online, although we already knew they looked very pretty, did not do it justice. High ceilings, SUPER soft rugs next to the bed, the bed was like sleeping on a cloud, nice sized fridge, and sooo many treats and drinks. I did not expect exactly how much thought and care the owners had put into constructing a comfortable stay for us.

The bathroom was separate from our room, The Turret Room, but it was still our own private bathroom, we were the only ones entering and using it. We left our toiletries inside while we were there and had absolutely no second thoughts about it. We felt they were not going to be bothered and felt confident that it was our private bathroom as the other rooms have their own inside the room. It was not a problem having a bathroom separate from the bedroom either, we just walked over to it when we needed it and never even saw the other guests. It honestly felt almost like we had the entire house to ourselves most of the time.

We did get to speak with one of the owners on a couple of occasions during our stay just by chance as we were coming in or out. It was very pleasant and she did make sure to see if we needed anything or if there was any way she could help. However, if you aren't looking for that extra interaction during your stay, she did not linger or stand over us at all. She was there to help if we needed it, we only saw her by chance in passing, but not there to eyeball every move we made, it was perfect.

Overall, this is somewhere I would highly recommend to couples that are traveling or families with children who are maybe 13-14 years old at least. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, we did have our 4 year old with us on the first night, and honestly it was completely fine. He loved the snacks that were provided, and seriously they had a half-gallon of milk in our minifridge in the room along with several things of cereal, what more could he want?! He slept in the middle between me and daddy so he couldn't roll out of the bed, although it was a tight squeeze, it all worked out completely fine. His mamaw came to pick him up the next day so we could have a night out and so I really was able to enjoy that "cloud" I was sleeping on the next day. However, I was a nervous wreck the night he was there. There are some very beautiful pieces in all of the rooms and hallways that I was so worried he would grab/break. He did good, but we had to tell him "no" too many times to count lol. We could hear a little bit of noise from the other rooms at times, nothing major, just like murmurs of people talking, so every time we said "no" it was a worry that he would scream or cry and we did not want to disturb others. I would just recommend this for families with older children so that hopefully they have better impulse control and would also be able to stay in their own separate room.

I have stayed in a variety of accommodations; hotels, motels, inns, resorts, cabins, even a sailboat. I have been to a variety of places; all of Florida, Maine, Vegas, Utah, Rome, Jamaica, and so many others. It is truly ironic to me that the nicest place I have ever stayed is in my backyard, Wise, Virginia!

I had to make a business trip to UVa-Wise recently and opted to spend the night at Nottingham Place the night before to avoid a drive in the morning. Ben and Kim are fantastic hosts and the accommodation was luxurious and comfortable. Special touches that stuck out in my mind - the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in, a separate sitting area where I was able to visit with the hosts and enjoy an evening snack (not forced - I gratefully accepted the offer) and ample bottled water to stay hydrated both upon arrival and before departing the next morning. I will absolutely stay here the next time I have the opportunity to visit Wise.

Nottingham Place in Wise is a great place to stay or hold special events & gatherings. 3 guest rooms with private baths on the 2nd floor. Sweet kitties live here and the hosts really care about guest comfort and satisfaction. No wonder so many return! Ignore the 1 star review that tanked their 5 star rating. It's a fraudulent review that has been reported multiple times but Google, although seemingly in the review business, is not taking any action to remove it. This is a great place to stay!

My partner and I were looking for a place to retire. We saw some of the wonderful activities and the beautiful land surrounding south western Virginia. We booked a room and stayed more than once looking for the perfect home. We are happy to say that the lovely treatment we got at Nottingham Place helped us to make up our minds to move to this area. We have been happy here for a couple of years.

Have stayed here when working in Norton, off and on since they opened. Rooms are WONDERFUL, fully appointed and very comfy. Top of the line bedding, owners go out of their way to make sure are your needs are met. Highly recommend for a night, a week or longer! You eon’t regret it and will be disappointed with hotels in the future!

This is our place to stay when we visit the area. We visit every May and so look forward to it. This is like home away from home. It is a beautiful place inside and out. Ultra clean, quiet and comfortable. The owners, Kim and Ben are so friendly and they are ready to go out of their way to make sure that you are happy and comfortable. If you are needing a place to stay in Wise, make this your place, you will love it, we do.
