The Lodge is absolutely fantastic. Did not stay in a room, but the restaurant is amazing. The service is great, and the people are so friendly. The food is excellent as well as the view. Highly recommend.

This review relates mostly to the LODGE (motel) and RESTAURANT. The park itself is one of the best in the WV state park system, IMO.
The motel: completely renovated during Covid shutdown. Appears completely ADA compliant. I didn't notice ramped curbs coming in from the parking lot, but they were probably there somewhere. Everything looks new. Very clean. Hot water: mediocre. Somewhat warm. Won't have to worry about grannie or the kids scalding themselves here. TV: cable box with hundred button mystery remote. Couldn't get anything but old Law & Order reruns and messages wanting to have me scan for a directory "may take up to 10 minutes". Room amenities: basic. three bottles of shampoo, conditioner and lotion. The lotion is a cruel joke in a little blue bottle. The lotion will not flow out, nor can one squeeze the bottle. Maybe you could dig some out with a stick.
Restaurant: disappointing. I used to live in this area back in the 1980s and this restaurant was the finest dining within 50 miles or more. IIRC the restaurant manager and chef was a Cornell hotel school graduate. They had fresh fish and steak and local wines were available to adults. All that is gone. Now it is just ... mediocre. The food is wholesome enough, just uninspired. Best thing I could find on the menu to try was spaghetti. Available with "marinara or meat sauce". I should have tried the marinara. When I see "meat sauce" I think of marinara sauce with some spicy Italian sauge or something like that. WRONG. Here the meat sauce is ground beef fried with a chopped up tomato. No detectable seasoning. Nothing liquid about it. Might have been better with the Parmesan mentioned on the menu. But they were out. Wouldn't stick to the pasta. My partner had a three soup sampler. She rated one as good, one (bean or vegetable) was very spicy (not mentioned on the menu and not good for a person with ulcers). The third was chili, which she ordered because I said I might try it. Unfortunately I couldn't get past the 1/4" of orange grease floating on top.
Server was enthusiastic and attentive. Prices reasonable for this kind of food.
They have a little gift shop selling some local craft products and some other stuff.
NO free continental breakfast here and it didn't appear that the restaurant was open for breakfast either (we were up and out at about 7:15). Coffee and bottled water in the room. And a real alarm clock.

New Year's Eve party package a joke. Not enough tables or seats...no decent alcohol available...dogs allowed and barking. Horrible experience. Tried to get refund and leave, but no dice. Don't waste your time on the lodge. Park nice, but crap service and food suck.

North Bend State Park Lodge is a great place to visit. Also you can enjoy walking or riding down the rail trail which is approximately 71 Mi long with great scenery also good food at a reasonable price.

Food was great and reasonably priced. We ordered chicken tenders and the grilled cheese. It was a late lunch because we were kayaking shortly after. Definitely recommend. Friendly staff in the gift shop and our waitress was great. 👍

This review is about the PARK, see separate review about the Lodge and Restaurant. The park has excellent scenery, hiking trails and a motel and restaurant. A recreational man made lake was added about twenty years ago. Camp sites, some with full RV hookups. WARNING: if you are visiting with a large land yacht you should note that both approach routes (either from Cairo or Harrisville WV) are very twisty roads with numerous sharp switchbacks. If you are driving a class B motorcoach or towing a longish trailer you may well find yourself stuck on one of these sharp switchbacks. Folks driving this kind of rig would be well served to phone ahead and discuss your intentions with a ranger. I believe some of the camping sites are less of an access problem than the Lodge itself. Tows are expensive out here. There are few places to turn back. Deer: if you want to see deer this is the place for you. In years gone by they used to feed them and most of them would hang around the Lodge. Not so today. But you are LIKELY to see them on the approach roads. Usually it will be as you come out of a blind curve and find one or more standing in the middle of the road staring dumbly at you as you bear down on them. So resist the temptation to lean into it on these fine twisty roads. It is no fun to run into a deer. People have occasionally been killed this way. The park scenery you can see from your vehicle and the hiking trails (now including a link into the old railroad right of way which has been converted into a cross country trail system) are some of the finest in the WV state park system. There is a man made recreational lake. Sorry, but I don't know if power boats are permitted. Canoes and kayaks are encouraged, but you may have to go to an outfitter outside the park for rentals. The lake is long and skinny and a person could spend days exploring it. There are fish, but you will want to learn about the rules for fishing in the park. Not all of the lake is inside the park and general WV fishing rules would apply outside.

Our family had the suite room and it was fantastic. Every staff member we encountered was great. It offers many amazing activities inside the park for children including a nature center with daily projects/adventures. We definitely will be back.

The lodge has recently been renovated and the rooms are really nice. The staff was very courteous and friendly. The restaurant area was nice and there is a nice seating area in the lobby with a large fireplace. They’ve also done an amazing job with their hiking trails. Highly recommend checking both the lodge and park out.
