We stayed at the Nippersink Lodge in June. It was warm, and I was concerned about the lack of air conditioning, but I shouldn't have worried. The huge screened-in porch has 2 ceiling fans, and the rooms all have floor/portable fans. The temperature is cooler in the mountains, and falling asleep to the sounds of the crickets, owls and other night creatures is a special treat. Theresa is an amazing hostess, and the morning breakfasts are delicious. This is a perfect place to unplug, and truly get away, and would be great for a family gathering or couples. I feel honored to have been able to stay in this historic and special home. Oh, and the river is really calm where the home is located. It is an easy walk or paddle to the falls, and canoes/kayaks are included in your stay.

Nippersink Lodge is a wonderful bed n breakfast just down the road from DeSoto Falls. Ms. Teresa is a wonderful host. The lodge is roomy, rooms are spacious and clean and you're only a short walk down to the river. Breakfast is outstanding. Kayaking is available and all equipment provided. Internet and cell service is limited if available at all but this only makes it easier to leave the stress of life behind and enjoy your stay. Don't forget to bring Teddy a dog treat, he'll appreciate it as much as you'll enjoy Nippersink Lodge.

We could not have enjoyed our stay more at nippersink this past weekend. Surrounded by nature The lodge emitts a warmth and charm. Theresa was the perfect hostess and did everything to insure our stay was perfect. We enjoyed hanging out on the back porch and chatting both with our friends and other guests. We had a great time taking the kayaks & paddling down for a view of the falls. We also did quite a bit of hiking either right from the lodge or after driving over to Desota Park. The town of Mentone was an adorable surprise and eating at the wildflower cafe was a trip highlight with its Exceptional food and great live music. Allowing you to bring your own wine is such a bonus. Looking forward to returning to nippersink.

Can't say enough about how special this place is. Nestled among scenic wildlife, rustic and timeless. The water thid weekend was warm, we took the paddleboat out and Desoto Falls us just around the bend. ||||The place iteself was built in the 1930's with timeless charm. If you are looking for a rustic setting and a place to retreat, this is the place for family get togethers, for it can accomodate a large but intimate setting. The water down below sets you right along a gorgeous river/mountain lake. We saw so much beauty here. My son didn't touch an electronic device all weekend.||||The owners were beyond kind amd amazing. They make you feel right at home. Sweet home Alabama. Mentone is a beautiful place to experience. ||||I would recommend this place to eveyone.

Nippersink Lodge Bed & Breakfast was built in 1934. My wife and I stayed for the weekend and had a great time hiking in near by DeSoto Park and Little River Canyon. One thing to note is that there is no air conditioning, but don't worry. These houses were designed with that in mind. I was amazed at how comfortable the temperature felt inside the house. There was absolutely no need for air conditioning.

We had a great time this weekend at the Nippersink Lodge B&B.. It was very relaxing and Theresa was a great host. Teddy was very sweet and made us miss our furry four legged child. Breakfast was simple but good.. It wasn't as hot as I thought it would be since the lodge has no AC.. We ate at 2 of the restaurants in town The Wild Flower Café and The Moonlight Bistro both restaurant's were good. No TV but we got to relax on the screened porch and read a book. We took a canoe ride and visited the Desoto falls down the street. We visited a couple of Covered Bridges around the Cloud Mount Ski Lodge and saw the Church with the Rock in it and Rustic Wedding Chapel..

We had a bit of trouble finding the lodge since it was our first visit to the area, but it was well worth it. We were greeted by Therese and Teddy, both very friendly but Teddy won't give up his ball for you to throw until you've passed his dog-lover sensors. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was no frills, but we didn't need any. We found walking down the hill to sit on a rock by the river peaceful. Breakfast was delicious both mornings. We enjoyed meeting the other guests and talking to them in the evenings by the fireplace and at breakfast. We ate dinner at a couple of different restaurants in town and had great meals at both.

Nippersink Lodge and B&B is beautiful, comfortable, vintage, rustic. It reminds me of the historic lodges in the national parks out West. The secluded location steps away from the calm, scenic Little River is Outstanding for anyone who likes paddling, nature, quiet, beauty. The nearby DeSoto Falls and stunning "brow" overlook of the Cumberland Plateau are interesting and beautiful.
