We enjoyed our two day stay here. John and Cathy are wonderful hosts, and we enjoyed their stories of the history of the place and time. The breakfast was very good. It was quiet, and the location was easy walking distance to everything. Also liked that it had off-street parking because parking can be problematic there.

One of the best travel experiences I’ve had! The home is gorgeous, breakfast was extraordinary—simple but delicious and with very caring details like honey from Kathy’s beehive in back—and best of all is John’s magical storytelling! If you can make time to fully appreciate it, they both have encyclopedic knowledge of history, natural history and a huge range of fields that they share with passion and joy! ||I can’t recommend this experience enough! It is worth coming to Williamsburg just to meet and stay with Kathy and John.

Newport House Bed and Breakfast was the perfect way to end our east coast experience. Our hosts John and Cathy went out of their way to make us comfortable and get the most out of our 2 days in colonial Williamsburg. They are both very knowledgeable about the history of the area, and John shared with us many very interesting historical tales (those that are not found in your average history book) an added so much extra depth to our trip. Our breakfast was delicious and our room was so comfortable and decorated beautifully. We were able to easily walk to downtown colonial Williamsburg but we were especially grateful to have John offer to pick us up when it started to rain unexpectedly. And huge thank you to John for taking us to the airport at 5 AM when our airline departure was changed. This place is amazing and you won’t be disappointed!

We enjoyed our four night stay at the Newport House B & B. April was a beautiful time of year to be in Williamsburg with balmy temperatures and lovely spring flowers in bloom. The Millars were very welcoming, the accommodations comfortable, and we appreciated the historical information and local knowledge from John, as well as learning more about honey bees and bunnies from Cathy. Breakfast was delicious served in an elegant setting. We would definitely recommend staying at the Newport House.||Bud & Jane

After unexpectedly having to visit the area, I stumbled upon this wonderful B&B that serendipitously had a room vacant. The hosts were somewhat of a marvel and shared wonderful stories, anecdotes, historical facts and much helpful information. We were not in any hurry and sat and enjoyed all of it. If a first time to the area, I would highly recommend as a way to complete your trip with so much good information that just seemed to round out the Colonial Williamsburg experience perfectly. They were wonderful hosts and genuinely kind-hearted and I will definitely return and refer my family and friends. As a huge Jane Austin fan I loved the experience of watching the dancers on Tuesday and May have to join in on my next visit. Thank you Cathy and John for opening your home to us!

We stayed at the lovely Newport House over Labor Day weekend and we felt that we stepped back to Colonial times. The hosts, John and Kathy are very welcoming, warm, and a very interesting couple. They love to share their extensive knowledge of beekeeping and John is extremely knowledgable of Williamsburg history. He has written several books. We were served a delicious breakfast at a beautifully set dining room table. The Newport House is within walking distance of Colonial Williamsburg and William and Mary College, and close proximity to all other local attractions. Bedrooms are beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We will stay again and highly recommend.

A wonderful stay with our hosts at Newport House. Clean, welcoming, spacious. Notably, they made a real effort in catering to me as a coeliac with waffles and pancakes. I also felt they had good knowledge of things like cross contamination as they said they it would be better if my friends would also eat a gluten free breakfast. I would recommend this place to everyone!

First, this would have been a five-star review except for one annoying trait. Other reviews here have been very polite and kind, but this trait was still in full effect upon our visit. Although others may consider this a quality, we found it rather rude after a point. At every meal we were exposed to John's extensive knowledge of the area which, at first, was entertaining and enlightening, but after awhile became rather tedious. Every meal became a college lecture, which may be quite welcome to some, but we had plans and an itinerary to fulfill. We are rather polite people normally, but felt as though we were being inconvenienced, to put it politely. If you have plans and an itinerary, this is not the place for you. Otherwise, the amenities, ambience and atmosphere are spot on. Just, please, spare the lectures.
