I have stayed at New Mountain Bed and Breakfast numerous times over the past 10 years. Elaine and Jim truly are amazing hosts and Elaine's breakfasts are scrumptious! Jim readily offers fishing tips for Big Sissabagama lake during breakfast and New Mountain even has a little hidden lake that has all the same fish as Big Siss -- the best part of the smaller lake is that it is so quiet and peaceful. I have stayed in almost all of the rooms but my favorite is the Loon's Nest in the upper level. If you are looking for a relaxed, peaceful getaway in the northwoods, I would highly recommend this bed and breakfast. If you are a fishing enthusiast, you will also love this place and may not want to leave!

Recently four us us stayed at New Mountain while on a Fall color ride on our motorcycles. Elaine and Jim welcomed us when we arrived. From the first time we met them we felt like friends and by the time we left we felt like family. We enjoyed getting to know both of them and what wonderful hosts. When you are looking for a place to stay during the Birkie, the largest cross country ski race in North America, it can be duanting task. Around 30,000 people flock to the area around Hayward and Cable, Wisconsin for a few days to prepare and participate in the event which is for many the pinnacle of the season. I was lucky to find an opening at this B&B, although they seemed a little reluctant to accommodate me at first. I tried my best to charm and persuade with voice over the phone, and quickly sent a down payment for my reservation. Little did I know how charming and friendly this place would be. I stayed in the Fox's Den, but Elaine gave me a tour of the rest of the facility when I first arrived. I gathered that the cabin and B&B had all been built by Jim and they have been sharing their part of Wisconsin with boarders for many years. I found Jim and Elaine incredibly friendly and happy to spend hours of their time discussing whatever you may find interesting. Jim has a large vintage snowmobile collection which he was happy to show to me, and Elaine let me user her space in the garage to wax my skis. Elaine is a very good cook and I had no trouble getting enough food in me for breakfast to last me well past my normal lunch time. And she even tried to cook without milk or dairy to accommodate my peculiar diet. This place is a little off of the main road system, and so getting up the hills in snow can be a challenge without all wheel drive, so consider all-wheel or four-wheel drive for your rental if you don't want to park down below and walk 50 yards up the hill to get to your room. Rooms are very clean and my bed was very comfortable. There is free wifi, which was not always accessible from my room, but I was the farthest from the router. They have three friendly, large dogs which are mostly well controlled. I plan to stay here again.

My husband and I just came back from 3 nights at this wonderful B & B. We can't say enough about this experience. Jim and Elaine are perfect hosts. Their breakfasts are like none other. The knowledge they have of the area and the fishing is much enjoyed. If we have the opportunity to come back, we will definitely stay here.

I had a reservation to stay at New Mountain Bed And Breakfast and I had to cancel because a broken leg scuttled my trip. Without any prompting they were kind enough to return my deposit and mail me a get well card. I admire their kindness.
