This is strictly a review of their bagged coffees, as I've never visited the actual location. Their coffees however are AMAZING. I've tried a few varieties, and while I'm definitely not a coffee aficionado, I know a great cup of coffee. Well worth the price, and just wonderful to make any time of day at home or work!

Smelled amazing outside but very awkward experience as a customer. I just felt like I was bothering everyone by being there. Cafe and mercantile are separate, which is not immediately apparent (this is a review of the mercantile). If you walk into the mercantile, only the first little room that looks like an entryway is customer-accessible. I was sent next door to a closed cafe. Cafe was closed due to very light snow (less than 1/4” at closure time). Two women were outside leaving and looked at me like what are you doing here? I wanted to get some whole bean from the mercantile but I felt like I was bothering them so I left without buying anything. I came all the way out from Seattle too, what a bummer. I hope this is a one off bad day, but I probably won’t be returning because the vibe was way off. Speaking of vibes-a lot of their responses to reviews are… odd? Not sure what’s going on here.

My sister mentioned that she wanted to take me here to fuel up on breakfast for our Geocaching adventure on the island.

If you don’t know, this place is NOT on the beaten path. You have to know it’s here to visit, even better to have someone who has accompany you. Kinda like the Isla de Muerta ala Pirates of the Caribbean.

I digress.

Very Steampunk-y interior which I loved. The eclectic silverware and plates were a unique touch as no two were alike.

Now then, on to the food. I had the Bob Porter Monster Breakfast Burrito and washed it down with a cortado. I had a bite or two of my sisters Blue Man Benedict. Couldn’t decide which tasted better!

If you’re on the south end of Whidbey Island then you need to start your day here. Period.

We visited to pick up some happy hippie but found our way to the variety. We picked up some honey processed mexico, Costa Rica, and Guatemala. Have been very pleased with all of our choices. The shirts and other merchandise was very well displayed and the staff was very helpful.

If I was ranking the food or atmosphere only it would be 5 stars. Great food unfortunately does not equal great service. Overall I have to rank them at 3 stars. You order at a counter where before any service is provided you pay and are expected to give a tip. I enjoy tipping well for good service, but good service is not waiting in line to order, getting your own drinks, getting your own silverware, cleaning up the table after you eat and the expectation you will scrape your own plates. While the staff was friendly, our only interaction with them was the lady who took our order at the counter and the one who brought our food. Expect to pay medium to high price for the food which is well worth the cost. There were 5 of us in my group and not one complaint on the quality or content of the food.

The cafe next door that serves their coffee was closed for remodel so we weren't able to sit and enjoy the coffee. We purchased a few bags and made a quick trip of it. The place is not much of a mercantile as it really just sells branded coffee merch.
