Lobby is cluttered and smells like fish. |Burned out light bulbs and some with open sockets within reach from the bed. |Damaged sheet rock throughout. |Kicked in door jam that was stubborn to open. |Leaking toilet tank in bathroom. |Terrible 👎👎👎

The place was dated for sure but clean. It’s obvious they’re doing their best with what they’ve got. We were comfortable. The desk guy was friendly and helpful. Easy walking distance to the town’s amenities. Partial views of the mountains. The only complaint was not being able to control the temperature in the room but that is a “temporary problem” they said.

This was my first time staying at this hotel (I usually stay elsewhere when I come to Valdez for work). The front desk staff is great so there is that. Very helpful and polite and courteous. Kudos to you all! The rooms, however...||The first room they put me in was handicap accessible with a shower that would have poured water all over the floor so they were nice enough to upgrade me to an "Executive King". This was top floor with a small kitchenette. |To start, the toilet was broken which I did not know until I used it so that was gross. Maintenance fixed it quickly though. I ran out of toilet paper and there was not any extra in the room. No kleenex, no bath mat, bath towels were old and ratted, only had one small bar of soap which I guess was for both the sink and the shower, and the bed pillows were flat. Also, the room was very hot and no way to control the thermostat. (I was pre-warned at the front desk about the room temperature issue and there was a fan provided.)|I think the funniest thing was that the only phone in the room was a wall mounted phone.... in the bathroom! I guess executives like to multi-task? Luckily, the television worked and I will say that the water out of the tap was nice and cold.|They have a restaurant but it was closed due to staffing shortages. |I had not stayed in this hotel previously and while it is definitely better than another Valdez hotel I once stayed at (will not name), it was not a hotel that I would choose again unless there was not another option.||

I want to say that I LOVE mountain sky. Mr. And Mrs. Hong keep the rooms tidy and spotless and they're both very kind. Jason is amazing and keeps the operation working smoothly and efficiently, plus he is personable to talk too and keeps me laughing whenever I run into him. The less than stellar star ratings are not deserved. You are in valdez Alaska, get a grip. It's an older hotel sure but try getting anything up here. We are out in the middle of nowhere. You want a pool, go to Vegas where the temperature outside warrants a pool. Keep up the good work Jason and thank you for taking care of me.

There was a minor issue with the room (that was no fault of the hotel), the staff's response more than made up for it. Excellent customer service and a reasonable room in a perfect location in Valdez.

I stayed at the hotel for a few days last August during the raining season. I actually was stuck in Valdez due to storm, but it turned out, surprisingly, to be a true retreat.

I have to admit that the hotel was a bit old and probably can benefit a lot from a remodel. But bear in mind that their price are relatively manageable compared with the insane rates of Valdez hotels in summer.

I also want to say that the family who runs the hotel were very kind. The father volunteered to give me a ride to airport, and also detoured to water fronts so that I can check out salmons before I left, all because he heard that I did not have a car and was traveling alone. I did not ask for any of those favors. The son attending the front desk was chill. I sincerely hope that they can finally re-open the restaurant inside the hotel and have a great success this year.

The views are spectacular of mountain on either side of the hotel. The price was perfect for 2 nights, $89 a night and this place is clean! Looks like they are renovating and our room was spotless! Our beds felt new and so were the towels and bedding. They clean this place everyday all day. I would recommend staying here and not being gouged by the corporate motels in town.

We stayed at this place for 2 nights, towards the end of our Alaska tour of 3 weeks. The booking was easy and the check in was fast. Missi at the desk was very pleasant and helpful. ||However, the hotel itself needs major overhauling. The carpets in the corridors have probably not been cleaned since they were installed. A powerwash with a carpet cleaner at the very least, if not replacement. I had to dust the room with antiseptic wipes before I could use or put anything on the table/desk and rest my head on the bed-head. Everything was so full of dust and had not been wiped. The bathroom smelt of smoke and I reported this. I was told that it is the smoke from outside the windows. That was incorrect and I had to leave the bathroom exhaust on all night and only then the smell went away. No room has airconditioning. Another quick tip, do not take rooms towards the back of the hotel (210 and 310 onwards). You will need to keep the windows open to be comfortable and then the noise from people smoking, drinking and having drunken brawls will keep you awake! There was a notice at check in that the hotel is out of shampoo. ||||The beds were good and clean. The soap was good too (mentioned by another user as well). Everything is walking distance from this hotel so that is useful. ||Will I stay here again when in Valdez? Definitely not. The reason I gave even 2 stars is because of its proximity to Safeway and the harbour.
