Our stay at Mountain Lake Lodge was amazing. The kids loved hiking around the property. We took a Gator tour with Bo to Bald Knob. He was very knowledgeable. We enjoyed it very much. We ate a meal or had drinks at every place open. Every thing was delicious. We did come because Dirty Dancing was filmed here. But the property is so much more!

We stopped for a stay over on a longer journey and so glad we did!! Dirty Dancing has always been a favorite movie and when I realized that it would only be about a 30 min. Sidetrack from the freeway I knew we had to stop. The Lodge has so much history and the building is stunning built of giant limestone rocks. The trust that runs the lodge has been working on updating it with modern conveniences but understand it was rebuilt in the early 1900's. They are doing a great job keeping the buildings history and updating things like plumbing, electrical, etc. I'm sure not an easy thing to do. They schedule event weekends, activities and have a very nice restaurant with upscale menu. Of you expect posh, brand new everything this is not the place for you. If you appreciate history, natural beauty, giant stone fireplaces with cozy spaces you'll find it a special place. If you appreciate the movie, it'll be especially nice. The owners have tried to downplay the movie connection in the past. I hope they embrace it even more. If we have the opportunity we will stay again. Look for deals on the room rates. They are higher than we would usually pay but felt it was worth it for the service and to support the preservation of an historical building.

My family took an extended weekend (4-days/ 3-nights) trip to Mountain Lake Lodge in March of 2025. Admittedly, I didn’t really know where we were going and didn’t do too much research to know what the resort/ lodge offered, the significance of the venue, or the history behind the film Dirty Dancing being (mostly filmed onsite). Given the fact that I never saw the film previously, I’ve since watched the film and noticed a lot of the buildings featured. That aside, our stay was very nice. Probably a place better suited for couples in their 50s+, but nonetheless a nice little get-a-way spot. I wouldn’t necessarily say there was a lot to do in the early spring time and is likely the place to go in the summer months. The restaurant had buffet style meals, which at first I liked, but after the second day, I was looking for something different to my desire. The last night for dinner, I asked if I could order something from the bar menu and they allowed this. The room was clean, but had the dated Victorian feel as I may have expected. It doesn’t have Hilton or Marriott new hotel feel but was nice nonetheless. They do not have an elevator. The customer service was very welcoming. If going with a decent size group like we had (8 adults + 2 babies), just know that the lobby with the fireplace is the only real place to lounge. The bar area is also a place to lounge but felt obligated to get a drink/ food.

The resort has a very awesome history. Black and white pictures to look at its past. Cool seeing the spots in the movie dirty dancing. The food was excellent, chefs are great. Hiking the trails was a great experience. I highly recommend this place.

Very enjoyable getaway with our senior college student. We hiked here in the Spring, but loved our Winter overnight. Bar was cozy with fireplace. Food and Drinks were great. Perfect suite that had adjoining room for our daughter and her friend. Loved the history of the property and how it's tucked away from everything.

I’m a huge fan of the movie Dirty Dancing, so I was excited to book 2 nights for our anniversary. There are a few things I would expect in a resort. One. Hot showers. The frig stocked with water and or beverages that you pay for upon check out, when you pre-book. Extra blankets and pillows in the room if needed. Because these things were not made available the price was very hard to digest. Overall I loved the atmosphere and the staff and the dining part were wonderful. And I would most definitely come again.

We planned a hike at cascades falls trail. Beautiful waterfall. Ate at the blue grass bbq place after. Delicious! Then checked in at 4. Front staff was nice and knowledgeable. Had a sweet nostalgic afternoon and evening revolving around the movie. Slept well on the bed. I had forgotten a block to plug in my chargers and there was no usb plug in and not enough outlets. Breakfast at harvest was wonderful. Took lots of pictures. A real memory maker.

The wife loves Dirty Dancing & this was a great trip. Stayed on a Monday & it felt like we had the hotel to ourselves. We ate the restaurant for dinner & breakfast the next morning. Food was very good. Staff was extremely friendly. All of the Dirty Dancing sites are marked for you to see & there is a scavenger hunt if you’re feeling up to it! No TVs in the room, which have a classic look still, but there is WiFi - so we chose to watch the movie on our laptop. Was a great experience!
