This is a great campground! I came here in June with my wife, daughter, and my parents.
My wife, baby, and I stayed in a tent only campsite while my parents were in a pull through RV site,
This place is huge! There is so much to see and do. But because of this size, I would not recommend walking the campground or even using a bike to get around. I say this because on top of it being very large and spaced apart, it is also very, very hilly. You'll find yourself either having to drive your car or rent a golf cart.
The staff was pretty nice and helpful. We even met the owner. She was nice to talk to.
The camp store was a bit of a letdown, a lot of knic knacks, and not many actual camping supplies. The pool was small and very, very cold well maintained. The mini golf was fun, but unlike other campgrounds I've been to, you have to pay for it. The ice cream store was also satisfying.
The campsites themselves are roomy, plenty of space! Ours even had an amazing view of the small airport and surrounding hills. The restrooms were alright, about average for a campground. But they seemed to be cleaned every day.
The beach was nice, we definitely enjoyed it. Also, make sure to stop by serenity point for sunset. You Won't regret it!
I would recommend either bringing your own golf cart or renting one. But make sure if it's electric, you book a site with a hookup to charge the cart when not in use.
All together, this is a great place. We will hopefully be back!

We enjoyed the campground. Large spaces, full hookups, clean well cared for facilities. and the ease of access to all the things to do in the area make it a perfect place. During the week we spent at Mountain Lake Campground, the marina was closed and that was only a minor inconvenience considering the beauty of the area.

Overall the location is very good relative to the lake but the campground is poorly managed.

The management at the campground does not seem to take much initiative to operate the campground. We arrived at our site and it had trash all over it along in the woods next to our site. The water pressure was also incredibly low at our site. We ended up just filling our fresh water tank in our camper and using that.

At night there were people who parked their truck on the basketball court and were blasting music. Along with that someone was doing donuts in the grass next to the court in their golf cart. I mentioned it to the staff the next day and was told there’s nothing they can do; even though it was during quiet hours established by the campground. They have security there but they just sit at the front gate; they don’t patrol the campground and there’s no way for me to contact them. I was told if it’s causing a problem I need to call the police. This answer is unacceptable and it shows management doesn’t seem to care.

Campground is very nice and well run. This was the first time here and the campground is larger than we expected. Its a nice place to stay. Descriptions of the tent sites are very accurate. Staff is very friendly and helpful and the store has anything that you might have forgotten.

Was not able to get our RV leveled in the first site so moved to another one. The sites are on the small side, some even are on small hills which make them small in size and not conducive to leveling and adequate size for pitching canopy, having picnic table etc. Many sites are out in a field with no shading. It looks like a parking lot for campers! ||Most importantly, on July 4th weekend there were issues in section one with the electricity. MY grand daughter and son in law were shocked in the showers in the shower house. I was shocked when touching the door frame of my RV, which was connected to electricity supplied by the campground. Many people were without power for several hours and even when it came back on the problem was still not fixed...my family still got shocked. They had to leave their campsite and come stay with us. They were not allowed a refund for the two nights they couldn't stay in their camper. ||Lastly, my RV experienced electrical damage the day the power issues occurred. Microwave went out, RV awning and RV steps. Campground owner, Sharon, as she introduced herself to me, said she was not responsible for any of this and more or less--tough luck! ||Very poor customer service indeed! Please reconsider these things when deciding where to camp in the Summersville area.

Everything was great except for our site #242. It was very unlevel we couldn’t hardly get in and out of our camper. We’re 63 and 69 years old. You should maybe start some senior sites that are all level and with all the hook ups. That would be great!

My family and I are on road trips, just cruising around the country, looking for a place to stay for the evening. Not many campgrounds popped up around here with a 4 rating. As I checked in, I had asked the price for the evening, and I was told $35 with hookups. However, that's their starting fee. But they added additional fees. $5 reservation fee, then if you have more than 2 people staying at the site, they charge an additional $10 person. In my case, a family of 4 with the wife and 2 boys, I had to pay extra for my boys. When asked as well for a site near the bathroom for my boys to make it easier for them, they have me a site 5 sites away, when I asked about closer sites, they said there wasn't any. Yet I pull into the site and vacant sites all over. Seems they stack people next to each other and don't allow gaps. So when you come you will be next to someone at all times. The campsite, in general, has the hookup pole eith the number. They have a picnic table and some random rocks in a circle that look like a fire pit. The sites are not really defined with boundaries i wont get into the bathroom and its disarray. In the end, I won't be back, as I stayed at a KOA and paid $35, had a pool, mini golf, and playground all included.

I camp here every summer, & several times during the summer. Me & family loves it there. The staff is always so welcoming & ready to give all information needed for your stay there. The bathhouses in every area are always clean, the laundry facilities in every area is a big plus especially with kids. The lake beach area is beautiful, lots of parking, and space. The swimming pool at the office is always clean, plus there is a baby pool area as well, super nice. Putt putt golf, Bar-B-Q & ice cream is A+++! They also make & sell awesome pizza! Lots of planned activities going on for the kids and families. They also have a nice boat ramp access to unload & upload boats. The Lake is absolutely gorgeous. I won’t camp anywhere else in WV, this place is top notch. Comfort, safety, and lots of fun.
