We love the Montvale and always recommend it. Older hotel with fewer frills but tons of character and perfect downtown location. ||Two small things: on our last stay we booked Suite 301L, and it's very hard to find. Please post better signs in your hallways! That suite looks brand new, so maybe you just haven't had time to do this yet.

Location was perfect to the downtown area and close enough to walk to Spokane Arena. It is an old motel but rooms were renovated and clean. Larger than expected room. Refrigerator and microwave were a bonus. Lobby area small and is not a great first impression but don’t let that fool you. Staff was friendly and let us check in early, which was much appreciated as both of us had some medical issues and it allowed us to nap before our night event. Bus stop to airport is across the street. I’d definitely stay again.

Such a fun and eclectic hotel. Rooms are clean, and the hotel is convenient to dining, shopping, and events. Staff were friendly and helpful. The Knitting Factory is across the street. Parking can be a little difficult as it is first come, first serve. You do get some noise from other guests as this building is older. Overall a great stay.

Room 207 was spacious and lovely. Hotel staff was great. The only issue was lack of blackout blinds in the bedroom. It was too bright for good sleep.

Chose this hotel for proximity to hospital as family was having surgery. Upon arrival we could find no place to park and could not pull up to the front because other cars were parked in the area. We located an adjacent lot and tried to pay to park there for the night however there was a 9 hour time limit. We called the hotel and were told to come check in and they would give us a key to their overflow lot. ||We were informed at the desk that we were lucky we hadn’t arrived the night before because there had been a fire alarm that went off overnight. Then we were told we also missed the coroner’s truck that had been parked just outside the facility presumably to transport a body. The area of town has many homeless people walking about. The gentleman at the desk assured us that while he wasn’t the best employee, he also wasn’t the worst…so I guess that’s lucky. ||We were able to find and park in the overflow lot however because we arrived later in the evening it was dark. To walk back to the hotel from this lot you must walk down a narrow alley that is not well lit and again, had homeless people setting up camp in doorways for the night.||Our room was nicely decorated and clean. The walls are paper thin and our neighbor’s phone conversations could easily be heard with clarity for several hours. The train is also just a stone’s throw away and runs periodically all night.||My reservation was for 2 nights and while I considered heavily moving to a different hotel, could just not justify the added expense. So I returned by myself the second night…before dark so as to hopefully feel a little safer. Once again after a very long day awaiting my daughter’s surgery I returned to a neighbor talking on the phone for a lengthy period and hearing every single word with absolute clarity. It should be noted he was not yelling at all. The walls are that thin.||At 0530 I was awakened to a very loud tv in the room below me (I wear earplugs) and my other neighbor’s morning activities clearly coming through the walls.||While the hotel has lots of character for its age and the room is nice, I would never recommend anyone stay here that is in need of peaceful rest.

This is one of my all-time favorite hotel experiences. The property is comfortable and charmingly furnished, and I appreciate the discounts it includes to nearby restaurants. It's a short walk to the riverfront and well-connected by bus to the airport. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

The Montvale: Spokane's "slightly haunted, delightfully creaky" hotel. They've got a basement bar that's cooler than my grandma's vintage ashtray collection, and staff so nice, they practically throw restaurant discounts at you. Sure, the beds serenade you with their squeaky love songs, and there's a ghost who probably just wants to borrow a cup of sugar (or ectoplasm?). But the whole place smells like a gourmet campfire marshmallow, and honestly, that alone is worth the price of admission. Just pack earplugs and maybe a ghost-detecting app, because you’re in for a hilariously unique stay.

Hotel went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed during a very busy weekend. Beautiful historic hotel with very comfortable beds.
Great restaurant in the lowest level. Only downside was those above us roaming in the middle of the night. Floors were very creaky.
I would definitely stay there next time!
