Mill Rose Inn - Half Moon Bay, California

We found the Mill Rose Inn to be extremely charming and comfortable. We considered staying at the Ritz Carlton but are so glad we opted for the Inn, which in addition to being less expensive, offers convenient access to the local town experience. It's a very sweet place with fresh baked cookies in the afternoon, coffee, tea all day and wine/port in the evening. We hiked in the forest, walked on the beach, ate well and slept well. Thank you Mill Rose Inn - we'll be back.

Positive: Private, quiet, wine, sherry and brandy were a nice touch. Great access to the downtown area and the highway. Negative: Needs some updating for items like pull cords tassels being in disrepair, jets in tub not working, electricity flickering in the room.

I have stayed at Mill Rose Inn several times under the previous owners, and was excited to book again. After booking online, I noticed some concerning reviews from other guests who noted that a number of important amenities were gone, and there were issues with basic comfort, including heat and rooms not matching the appearance on the website. The best part of Mill Rose Inn was the hot tub grotto, which justified the higher cost, and that appears to be gone. The excellent breakfast, which made it a B&B, also appears to be gone. I emailed Mill Rose Inn to verify, and got no response. Then I called, and no one answered, so I left a voicemail. I called over a dozen times over a few weeks and never once reached a human nor got a callback. The website seems to be misrepresenting the Inn by showcasing photos and property condition from past ownership instead of the state of the inn now. The complete lack of communication also indicates fraud and is very alarming.

Positive: I appreciated that the staff was very friendly and welcoming upon our arrival. There is no thermostat in the room, but it was very cold that evening and they had the space heater turned on and warming the room already when we arrived. Negative: The bathroom was awful. The shower head was like an outdoor campsite type and the shower itself is so tiny I could not comfortably shower. It was also very loud Saturday. The noise seemed to be coming from a nearby bar or something.

Great quaint inn with charm right in downtown Half Moon Bay! We had a great time. Parking was easy and the rooms were comfortable. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

I hosted my wife’s baby shower here. It was the best decision, the rustic, beautiful charm of this place is unbeatable, and so rare to find these days.

The hosts were so pleasant and helpful, I cannot praise them enough.

I highly recommend selecting them for your next event, or for your next stay.

The best B&B I've been to. The rooms were beautiful and comfortable. I love being able to sit around and relax in my room for a bit when I'm on vacation, so having a room with nice seating and a beautiful gas fireplace was a delight. Our room had a nice table so one of the nights we were able to get pizza delivered. There's a mini fridge and microwave which was something I wish all hotels had! Being able to just bring back the leftovers of a tasty meal was really helpful.

We called in and got the celebration package that they had listed on their website, so when we arrived there were beautiful flowers, cakes and cupcakes, wine and sparkling juice all waiting for us!

Our room had a claw foot bath tub, which was nice but unfortunately the water didn't get very hot when filling it. Oh but this is the first time in my life I've had a robe provided by a hotel that was actually comfortable! Super soft! The towels and linens were really soft too!

We had a wonderful time and are planning on coming again in the future!
