I would leave a 5 star because the food is absolutely amazing… this is my plea to PLEASE BRING BACK THE COUNTRY FRIED PORK on the breakfast menu. We would most definitely be returning more frequently if it was on the menu year round. thank you for the amazing food always!

Use to have a incredible chef back in the day, who has since left. I feel the food has dropped a bit in quality since and some menu items were removed. But still a great place to eat with awesome atmosphere. Really fun to catch a train go by mid meal!

Crazy black flies everywhere were distracting and made it difficult to eat. Otherwise, amazing atmosphere. Good service but slow beverage refills due to overworked server, so be sure to keep an ice water available. Burger was cooked perfectly to order but wife was not fond of the brisket skillet she ordered. Curds were well-portioned but arrived with a single serving/ extremely small cup of sauce. Prices were on the high side for lunch but would be tempted to return for a special occasion or a unique experience with visitors.

We took a train enthusiast here for his birthday. Not only did we just adore the surroundings, but the food was outstanding. I ordered the roast turkey. The birthday boy ordered the salmon on a cedar plank. Others ordered breakfast or sandwiches. The desserts were incredible...so hard to choose! The staff were so friendly and we just adored the model train and our education from a very special boy named Hunter. We'll definitely return.

Delicious breakfast! Also phenomenal herb bread available for sandwiches. Super cool and unique building, paired with the real life trains going by. Can’t wait to try some of the bakery in the case 🙂

The food was quite good everything was delicious. The cake was decent. Staff was really friendly they were slow so I kind of felt like we were bothering them but they insisted we weren't. It was so good I suggest going there. We had the rib ends with french fries the eggs Benedict Junior French toast and the Caesar wrap.

Food was decent, lack luster in flavor for the biscuits and gravy & the hollandaise. Will be back to try other food items!! Waitress was amazing..

My friends and I decided to go out for dinner to catch up. Upon arriving, my friends had gotten to the restaurant a few minutes before i did, ordered drinks, and chit chatting until i arrived. I just sat down, and our waitress came over and asked if we wanted to order food. We told her we needed a few more minutes, which she seemed annoyed about. I couldn't even tell you our waitresses' name, but her whole attitude was off-putting. It was blatantly obvious that she clearly didn't want to be working. I understand the restaurant wasn't very busy, but it would have been nice not to feel so rushed.

We ordered our food, and I simply ordered: two eggs, over medium with hashbrowns and white toast - instead, I received whole grain toast instead of my white toast..

One of my other friends ordered the apple cinnamon French Toast, which she hardly ate, maybe took 3 bites. It was cold and had no flavor. It didn't look very appetizing.

The situation that really made the experience much worse was during check-out time..

I had gone up to pay for my bill (cash), with no issues. My friend who ordered the French toast goes to pay, no issues. All of a sudden, when my other friend goes to pay, she's being told that there's a missing check & our server was trying to blame us for the mishap when she was called over. When she was the one who made the mistake and printed the same check when splitting our bills. We did absolutely NOTHING wrong and to be talked down too like that, absolutely not. Extremely unprofessional along with the attitude of the staff helping the lady who worked up front. It was so ridiculous. Considering It wasn't her fault either.

Would I recommend Maxim's in Oconomowoc? Probably not. I've been to better restaurants with friendlier staff. The only nice person was the sweet lady working the register on Saturday night.
