The first time I ate here was April, 1979. It was SO good back then. Just a little hole in the wall place, but great pizza. The service is always slow, so accept that before you go. It's going to take a while, so get a pitcher of cold beer and enjoy the wait. You may, or may not, get exactly what you ordered, but it will almost always be good, whatever you get.

Our waitress was very nice. The cleaner they use is ammonia based and causes the place to smell like urine after they wipe the tables down. I couldn't get past the strong urine odor. It even made our drinks taste like cleaner. We ordered 2 small pizzas. This place has been recommended to me as one of the best pizza places around. I'll base my review mainly on the food in that case. When the pizza came it was very bland. I mean it had barely any flavor at all. We ordered 2 different kinds, the artichoke pesto and a Supreme style pizza. They both tasted very flavorless and almost like they were pulled out of the freezer section of Walmart. We also got the appetizer sampler and the chicken was so dry that when we broke it in half it made an audible snap. We ate one slice each and decided this was not for us.

Worst pizza I have ever had in my life other than when Tre Rigazzis was still open!! Bland, greasy, over cheesed soggy mess. Why are half the toppings under the cheese so they don't cook and make everything soggy ! Learn basic pizza structure! The dough is like wet bread. Not pizza dough. Horrible. I'll back up all my complaints and slap together a pizza that would knock your socks off in their own kitchen. Bad and sad pizza.

Mater's has always been my favorite pizza of all time, until Saturday.
I ordered a small Better Girl without mushrooms. First off, when we ordered they didn't take our name, so there was problems picking it up. They said it would be ready in 30 minutes but we were there in 20. It was ready, but cold. It was terrible. Not enough toppings, not enough cheese and the crust was so hard.
And it cost 20.00..such a waste of my money.
We were so disappointed! I will eat at mater's again, but it will be awhile.
Guys, what happened

First time here. Only three waitresses on a Friday night but ours was very nice. Fried pickles were eaten up by the table and they said they were very good. One out of four pizzas was made wrong and had to wait over 45 minutes for the remake. Thin crust pizza was ok. I had vegan with cauliflower crust, Artichoke hearts, kalamata olives, roasted tomatoes and it was very good! Online charged credit cards three times after saying payment did not go through, called restaurant and was asked to call back in the morning. Decided to go through bank instead and they said the extra charges had already been reimbursed by the merchant.

THE WORST PIZZA I’VE EVER HAD!!!!!!!!!!! First of all the place has a weird smell. The decor was all wooden and old fashioned but then for some reason the tables are light blue covered and the walls have paintings that are literally just glops of different colors of paint which really looks awful. The food… I paid $13 for a sampler of mozzarella sticks, jalapeno poppers, and fried mushrooms. I only got 5 fried mushrooms, 3 jalapeno poppers, and 4 mozzarella sticks….for $13 ?!?!? All of course which tasted like they were frozen. I got a better girl pizza and it was literally the worst pizza i’ve ever had in my entire life. The crust was about an inch and a half thick, completely soft, no crunch whatsoever. I waited for the pizza to cool and still whenever I picked up a slice nearly all the toppings slid right off the pizza. I literally had to eat the pizza with my fork because it was so sloppy and it was so bad I didn’t even finish one slice of my large 16 inch pizza. There was also absolutely no flavor to the pizza whatsoever. You would think a pizza with so many different toppings would have some kind of flavour, nope. There was no seasoning in the marinara whatsoever it was basically just ketchup sauce on thick whitebread covered in toppings and cheese and undercooked. I have genuinely had frozen pizzas that tasted better than this and it absolutely blows my mind this place has so many positive reviews. The waitress was nice, but after spending $52 on a couple cheesesticks, an undercooked sloppy pizza, and 2 drinks I just couldn’t find the compassion within me to give her a tip. I have never in my life written a review on a restaurant before but this place was so bad I had to. I literally was thinking about dining and dashing because the thought of having to pay them for their slop hurt my pride so much. PLEASE NEVER GIVE THESE FOLKS YOUR MONEY!!!!
