We had the best dining experience ever! The fresh garlic rolls were so good! The owner and all his staff were working so hard! It was really busy when we came for Sunday lunch. However, I am beyond impressed on how the servers and owner were working so hard and making sure everything was clean and spotless while ensuring each of their customers were served in a timely manner and happy! They were under a lot of pressure and never seemed frustrated. There was always a smile on every one of their faces. Blown away and have never seen a restaurant run so smoothly.
The food was impeccable and cooked to perfection. This is truly the best restaurant in Marion County!
Kuddos to our waiter Javier.. I believe! Super awesome!

When most people think Italian food in Fairmont they think Muriale’s. My friend and I decided to give Mama Di Roma a try last night and everything was exceptional. Most of the food is made to order, which may cause longer wait times during busy hours. That is perfectly acceptable for freshly made food. Our waiter and all other staff were very attentive to us as soon as we entered and throughout the entire dining experience. My drink cup never once ran dry.

The food was exceptional especially the marg pizza. The tomato sauce is tasty and well seasoned. The chicken parm was fresh with just the right amount of crunch. I’m not a fan of balsamic vinegar but even I liked the eggplant stacker. Also each meal comes with garlic rolls which are freshly baked and very tasty.

We will be back in the future!

This is a wonderful hidden gem. Not only is the service friendly and warm, but the food is absolutely phenomenal. I’ve had the BEST chicken Marsala here. Everything is simply amazing, but the way the food is prepared brings happiness to my tastebuds. If you’re in the area, I definitely recommend this place. I don’t live in the area, so happening across this little gem has been a blessing in itself.

My wife and I had a delicious lunch today. Our waiter David was very nice and professional. Menu has a wide selection, it was hard for me to choose everything sounded so good. You can hear the Real deal Italian owner in the kitchen, I can tell they have high standards. Wife and I will definitely be back!

I was at Mama Di Roma last night, for my girlfriend's birthday dinner. The food was good, but the service was not. I could tell the waitress was having a very stressful evening, so I didn't want to cause a scene or take it out on her. The restaurant seemed to be very understaffed for a Friday evening. There were three people waiting on the entire restaurant. The waitresses seemed new and needed better training.

It took 30 minutes for two of our party to be asked what they wanted to drink. It took over an hour to place our orders.

When the waitress was removing the salads, she spilled balsamic salad dressing on my pants and on my expensive boots. I probably spent 15 minutes of my dinner time trying to remove the dressing from my clothes. When I got back, I noticed that there was more dressing still dripping from the table that I hadn’t gotten completely cleaned up before going to the back to try to clean myself up.

While I was cleaning myself up, I heard an argument between the waitress and the owner. I don’t know how the argument started or the full scope of it but hearing that made me feel uncomfortable and feel bad for the waitress. At one point, I heard the owner yell, “Get the hell out of here and don’t come back!” I’m not assigning blame to who was at fault for that as I did not witness the beginning, but it was a very awkward experience.

When some of the food arrived, there was a lot of confusion over what the food was, and who ordered what. There was also confusion on whose bill was whose. Two of the bills were incorrectly combined.

The waitress knew she did a bad job, last night. She was apologetic and said she hoped we’d come back and that she would do a better job next time. She also got me a rag to clean up with. I do wish the restaurant would have done a little more though. I don’t want to see anything bad happen to her, because she was friendly and apologetic. I understand people have off days, and that is the first time I’ve seen that happen at Mama Di Roma.

The entirety of the situation warranted at the very least the manager or owner coming to our table to address the situation. Having the meal comped or at the very least a discount, a free drink, a free dessert, etc. would have gone a long way to make the situation right – especially when I spent so much time cleaning up the mess that was made on me. The lack of proper staffing and training was apparent in the body language of the customers at other tables in the restaurant, as well.

Mama Di Roma is my favorite Italian restaurant around here and I typically get great food and service. However, last night, after spending close to $100 for my girlfriend’s birthday dinner, I was not satisfied with the experience. I was even more dissatisfied that nothing was even attempted to make things right.

I called the restaurant to discuss this and spoke to the owner. I didn’t want to leave a review before doing so. The was friendly and said they were not prepared for the large crowd last night. I brought up the issue of the dressing being spilled on me, and he said he remembered. He asked if the food was alright, and I said it was very good. It would have been nice if something had been offered for the poor experience, but it was not, and I was not going to ask for it. Really, the gesture of trying to make things right is more important to me than the monetary value of it, and there was really nothing done to make things right.

I would give this place 5 stars for the food, 3 stars for the value, and 1 star for the service. I will give this place another chance, and if things are better next time, I will update my review to reflect that. My suggestion is that, when are problems, the manager/owner should personally address the table and make a small gesture to try to make things right. I wouldn’t expect to have a $100 meal comped, but 20% off or a free drink/dessert would have been a small gesture to show that they cared, as would have a visit from the manager/owner.

Service was good. Atmosphere was solid. Chicken parm was pretty good. The rolls were kinda dry and meh. Overall, great but nothing mindblowing. Would go back to try more. 🙂

We are there for the first time this evening and wow! Excellent food and huge portions! We had to bring half our meals home. The waiter was also exceptional. Very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Definitely better than Muriiale's and much better service.
