This is the 2nd year we booked with Joan at the Magnolia House during the Sistersville Marble Festival. Once again...lovely, clean, hospitable, reasonably priced! This year we had the largest room, the Magnolia Room. It was just so pretty, clean and comfy; what more can I say We always leave early to get to the marble festival, so we never do the "breakfast" part of the B&B...will have to give Joan's cooking a try! She is meticulous and detail oriented, so I am sure it would be great. This is a terrific place..do give it a try while travelling through the area.

Visited the Magnolia House with a girlfriend during an overnight stay in New Martinsville. The beautiful home is located in a charming historic neighborhood with gorgeous mountain views. The inside of the is home is lovely with careful attention to every imaginable detail. Period furniture welcomes you into each room with a step back in time paired with modern conveniences. The wonderful and gracious owner, Joan made sure we were very comfortable. Her talent and warmth were felt through her decorating, her gracious and friendly personality and her delicious breakfast that she prepared fresh for us that morning. We felt right at home. The two of us will be going back "home" on our next trip to New Martinsville. Thank you Joan for offering such a nice resting place for two weary travelers! Sincerely, Bess Knopp and Tina Armstrong

We needed lodging in the New Martinsville area for the second night of a three day motorcycle trip. I called and spoke to Joan Adkins, the owner of the Magnolia House, and she graciously offered to not only put us up, but she even pulled her SUV out of the garage and allowed us to store the four bikes there overnight. The home is absolutely beautiful and Joan is a most gracious host. She directed us to one of the best Mexican restaurants I've ever been to, Dos Hermanos, which was just a short four to five block walk from the house where we ate on the patio overlooking the Ohio River. It doesn't get much better than this! If you have any reason to stay overnight anywhere near New Martinsville, West Virginia, then you need to stay with Joan at the Magnolia House.

We were in town for a family matter. Joan the owner of the Magnolia house helped to make our stay very pleasant. Besides owning a beautiful house, she's made into a very welcoming home. Joan was very helpful in pointing us to some wonderful restaurants in the area. She also accommodated our dietary needs for breakfast. The house as stated before is beautifully decorated for the Holidays and is very well kept up and clean. She provides many extras including plush terry cloth robes! When we have the opportunity to travel through the area again, we wouldn't stay anywhere else. Definitely the place to stay in New Martinsville! B & K

This is one of the best bed and breakfasts we've visited. The first thing that struck us was that Joan, the innkeeper, really knows how to run an inn and make people feel special and welcome. The hospitality was exceptional. ||||There was an abundance of snacks available 24/7 in the butler's pantry. Joan even made us an apple tart for a midnight snack. The breakfasts were wonderful, and she custom made them to our liking and schedule and didn't complain that we were late risers. ||||The Magnolia room was huge and comfortable. The bed was plush and luxurious, although the mattress was a little soft for my bad back, but my husband slept like a baby, he was so comfortable. We loved the plush comforter so much we asked Joan where she got it and when we got home, we bought one. The carpet was also very plush. There were fluffy bathrobes for both of us to use.||||There was a large flat screen TV with cable, but no dvd player, which didn't bother us because we were able to easily connect our Roku through an hdmi cable and stream Netflix. ||||There was a morning room with refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, etc. off of the bedroom which was great for me to heat my hot pad for my back during the night.||||The bathroom had handicapped bars around the toilet which really helped my bad knees. There were a lot of steps to the second floor, but they were manageable. ||||There were railroad tracks just behind the house, and because we are train lovers, it was neat to watch the lights and hear the whistle, especially at night, although we were not awakened by any trains.||||The house was spotless and decorated nicely, but not too formal.||||There was a library with games and a TV that we could use. If you are sensitive about animals, be aware that there are some deer heads in the library that made me sad.||||The spacious porch was delightful to sit and relax on in the afternoon sun. We also sat for a time at the table and chairs in the backyard.||||The area was very scenic with beautiful views of the Ohio river and the street the house was on was charming. There were a surpising number of decent restaurants for such a small town, including several Chinese and Mexican.||||This is one of the few B&Bs that we'd want to return to.

We were going to be in Sistersville for the Marble Festival and booked a room at this lovely B&B. Joan, the owner was very friendly and personable. The B&B was decorated nicely with a large living room, dining room and study to use if you like. We were in the Chestnut Room; which was roomy, comfortable and very clean. The bathroom is in the hallway, however the 3rd and smallest room (there are 3 rooms) was not booked so we had it all to ourselves and this did lower the cost. The bathroom was very clean and even had body wash, shampoo, hairdryer, flat iron and other toiletries if you needed them. There was a tiny closet in the room, typical in an older home, but there was lots of drawer space. The bed was very comfy with nice bedding and lots of fluffy pillows. Flat screen cable TV and wifi always a plus! We got a very good and quiet nights sleep. There is a ceiling fan and an in room portable AC unit. The room had a bottle of water and some little snacks and candies as well...very nice touch! Joan keeps a well stocked pantry and has a pot of coffee on in the morning. She made a little tray of cinnamon rolls one morning and keeps oatmeal, granola bars, yogurt, cold cereal etc there for your enjoyment. We even kept our own sodas, ice packs and leftovers in this pantry fridge as well. There is ample parking. The B&B is w/i walking distance of the small downtown area, so we were able to take a nice walk one night. The whole area is residential, clean and safe. I would very much recommend this B&B and I'm sure we will be back next year!

I was in New Martinsville on business and stayed with Joan and Bill at the Magnolia House Bed & Breakfast. I felt completely at home. An added plus - it's a great little community for bike riding, walking, and eating. This is a small B&B, but if you can get in, you won't be disappointed!!!
