The food was absolutely disgusting. My daughter's plate, the sampler was still frozen in the middle. The food was room temperature for the rest of us and super salty. We've eaten here once before and the food was good but I don't know what happened tonight. It was very disappointing since we were celebrating a birthday. Almost everyone has a stomach ache, I just hope we don't get food poisening.

We went for brunch after a hike at Warpaint. Not only was the green pork burrito very good but the customer service we received from Sonny (Sunshine) was amazing. He was always checking on us and so positive and cheerful. You can clearly tell he likes his job. I worked as a manager for customer service and can say he is a great example for others to follow. Please recognize him among his peers.

So, I am one of those people that never writes reviews. but this restaurant deserves a warning and an inspection. I use to eat here all the time it was amazing five years ago. every so often I think I will try it again and see if it has gotten better. NOPE it actually has gotten worse. 1. dishes handed to us for our chips all four plates were so dirty we could feel food on it. the chips where so greasy and felt like I was eating grease. the only thing I could eat was my grandsons kraft macaronie and cheese !!! to top the whole thing off when I got home my stomach hurt so bad and let's just say I had stay in my restroom longer than I would have liked. I truly do not know how this place is open. I should have known when lunch hour it was just my family and another. You could not pay me to go back.

Our experience there was not all that good. We got seated right away along with chips and salsa. The waitress took a bit long to take our order but I didn’t mind. We ordered the fish tacos and street tacos with beans and rice. The food was very bland with no flavor at all. The fish tacos were burnt but being in the food industry myself I could tell it was from it being fried in old oil. The waitress took so long to refill our drinks even though she only had two other tables, but she was quick to bring us our check though. I don’t think we will be coming back anytime soon.

Macayo’s is a Phoenix institution! It hits that spot deep down in your belly only some greasy spoon Mexican food can hit. Many items can be customized to dietary needs, I.e. no dairy, meat, etc. A couple good vegetarian/vegan options as well. I had the vegetarian enchiladas with no cheese and my wife had the veggie tacos with no cheese. Highly recommend for that taste of Phoenix! Don’t forget the fries ice cream!!

Service from the kitchen was horrible. We kept getting told "the kitchen is way behind" yet order after order after order for takeout was being filled and sent out. Once the takeout orders slowed or stopped then all of a sudden the entire restaurant began getting their food. Not the best way to get repeat customers. Also the food was less than favorable. It
has been several years since we've been to this restaurant, and I can tell you, I may never come back.
