We rented out the Lumber Baron Inn for our wedding party! Most of our party was couples and each person got their own room. It was amazing! They let everyone check in by noon and wrote our names in a post it note on the doors so we knew where they were. They let us pay for it all in advance so we didn't have to worry about it the morning after! They also left the door unlocked so we could get in after a late night. The stay itself was amazing and the beds were very comfortable. We had a great time in the jacuzzi tub and the view was so beautiful. The morning breakfast was worth the price of the room stay alone! It was so amazing and the couple were really sweet! Through the booking progress they asked all about the wedding and how it was all going as their granddaughter was also getting married soon too! Such an amazing place and we can't wait to stay there again!

I was taking my daughter back to college in La Crosse and looking for a place to spend the evening. I normally stay in one of the hotels in La Crosse but I was looking for something different. The reviews for the Lumber Baron are excellent, it has a beautiful location, it is convenient to La Crosse, and the room rates are great. I decided to give the Lumber Baron a try.||||What a good decision that turned out to be! The hosts, Ken and Sandy are wonderful people, very friendly and accommodating. They went above and beyond and were there for our every need. The stories and history about the house are fascinating, I could have listened for hours.||||The house has been restored to its original splendor. The woodwork and furnishings are incredible. They have added just enough modern amenities to make the rooms very comfortable. The setting overlooking Lake Onalaska is beautiful.||||And then there was breakfast. The dining room is spacious and beautiful. The multi-course breakfast was far beyond my expectations. Sandy and Ken take great pride in making sure everyone is happy and they certainly hit the mark.||||I definitely recommend staying at the Lumber Baron and experiencing Sandy and Ken's hospitality.

Owners Ken and Sandy made us feel like family. We enjoyed our first visit in May with friends and returned just a few weeks later with family. They are gracious hosts that offer a warm and relaxing B&B experience. The Lumber Baron Inn is quintessential Victorian as noted by the detail in each room. Rooms are private, comfortable, and meet every need for the traveler. Guests are sat for breakfast and partake in a wonderfully prepared 7-course meal while enjoying the company of newfound friends. The perfectly timed courses allowed for lively conversation and Ken and Sandy’s entertaining storytelling. Breakfast was more lengthy than we expected however we enjoyed the slower pace of a Victorian breakfast and look forward to that on our next visit. We highly recommend a stay with Ken and Sandy at the Lumber Baron Inn.

Owners are very friendly and you can tell they truly enjoy entertaining guest. Of the nearly 100 B and B's we have stayed at all over the U.S., this is easily the cleanest place we have ever stayed at. The room was exquisite with a large spa tub, very comfortable bed with luxury sheets. You will not leave the breakfast table hungry after a gourmet-type offering. Truly a premium B and B. We hope to return many times. They deserve every 5 star review they have.

Ken and Sandy are wonderful hosts. They really are very friendly and go out of their way to make your stay a wonderful time. Sandy's breakfast is not a meal, it is an event. Outstanding.

Sandy and Ken were so accommodating and kind! They gave us information about the area as well as their home. It would have been nice to have a glass of wine and enjoy their company if we weren’t there for a college visit. They let my daughter choose her room which had a view of the river and sunset. The only downside was the nighttime sound and slight vibration from trains. We loved the river view from the back yard of the home. Some of the decor was a little country craft but there were nice little touches from a variety of olden times. The Chessie pictures related to the Ohio 1930’s advertising campaign were sooooo delightful. The breakfast was amazing and wouldn’t end in a great way! I felt guilty for not eating enough to clean my plates. The dining ware was beautiful. My daughter begged me to find and order the vanilla tea she was served. I loved mine, too. Sandy made sure to provide nondairy items for me which was unexpected and wonderful. I thought I would just skip items with dairy but she kept it off our menu completely. I had let her know in advance I was lactose intolerant so kudos to her for remembering and keeping me comfortable. I hope we have more occasions to stay in the future!

Our first step inside was truly a step back in history. Every room was beautifully restored. The pool table brought us back to our youth as we challenged our friends to play a game. We lost, but had fun playing!! Sandy and Ken are exceptional hosts!!! Their elaborate, delicious breakfast was complimented by their heirloom china. Imagine Sorbet between breakfast servings ! |This was the best B & B we have ever experienced.

Ken and Sandy were most welcoming. The breakfast meal, as well as the way it was served was top notch and first class. They went the extra mile to accommodate us on dinner options,transportation as well as other suggestions.||The home is memorable to say the least in all regards, as well as the view to in the back of the house. Special touch which we availed ourselves of was a pool table which was in excellent condition and perfectly level! ||Definitely a come back and stay destination for the future. ||Suggestions: stronger coffee and completely curtain covered widows (room darkening to block light coming in vs. partial curtain).
