We rented the Alder Cottage for 4 nights over the Thanksgiving holiday and were very impressed. ||Every year we return to Fort Bragg to visit my husband's family for the holiday and struggle with finding just the right accommodations for our family that will allow us comfort, convenience and affordability. We found that here at Lodging & Llamas.||The cottage is spacious, quiet, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It is also very convenient, as it is only minutes away from town. ||There were 4 of us on this trip, myself and my husband and our two boys. The cottage has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms so this allowed all of us our privacy. There is also a roll away bed for an extra guest if needed. The kitchen is well equipped, there are plenty of towels and linens provided and the central heat keeps the place nice and warm. We found hours of enjoyment playing pool on the pool table in the living area, playing board games and even enjoyed a dip in the hot tub off the back porch! ||The llamas are right there on the property and we got some great photos of them, although we did not take advantage of the llama treks that the hotel offers. ||One other great thing is that the owners do not charge a cleaning fee for renting the cottage as many other places do, they only ask that you wash your own dishes, put the trash in the cans outside and strip the linens off of the beds before leaving. ||One of the challenges I encountered when deciding whether to reserve this place was the lack of photos provided by the owners and former guests, so I took several and am sharing them with my TripAdvisor friends. ||I have read some of the previous reviews that weren't so stellar and was frankly confused by them. Note that this is not a 5-star hotel, but you also aren't paying a 5-star rate. This is also Fort Bragg, California, not Napa Valley. This place is an incredible value for the amount of space you get and all of the amenities. We were more than pleased with our experience and would definitely return again!

The llama trek is a fun experience and well worth the money. There were two of us, and we each led our llama on a trail on the bluffs next to the ocean. The friendly and interesting llamas carried our picnic supplies. There is an option to trek with the llamas on the coast or in the redwoods. The scenery was wonderful, and we were lucky enough to see grey whales and harbor seals on the trek as well. Our trek started at 11 AM and lasted a few hours. We drove north of Ft Bragg. It was a bit challenging to book, but I highly recommend it. It's something everybody who likes animals should try at least once. It was a highlight of my little trip to the coast.

Four of us stayed at Alder cottage for 3 nights. It was immaculately clean & the kitchen had everything we could want. The lodgings are just a 2 minute drive from the centre of Fort Bragg and directly opposite the Mendocino Botanic Gardens, which are a delight. The added bonus was Dana, the owner appearing one night with "Lucky" the Llama in tow, what a wonderful surprise and what a marvellous & knowledgeable host she was. We would definitely return if we are ever around that way again the place is delightful.

The house was a little old, but well maintained. Close to town but you felt like you were out in a forest. Well stocked & very clean. Comfy beds. We didn't do any of the Llama things, so I don't know about that. Good hot tub. Good place for a family or a few friends (like we were). Good value for the price.

We love the Cypress cabin. It's peaceful, comfy and close to everything. Our family loves going here. Can't wait to go again! The amenities are wonderful. Nice to seat in sunroom and play games with our teens. Also love this is a dog friendly place but you can't tell dogs are in the house.

We looked forward to bringing our Grandchildren to the Ft Bragg, Mendocino area since my husband and I had been here many times before.||What a disappointment the rental was. I don't think our standards we're set to high as we are campers as well, but the rental was horrible.||||I don't think filthy kitchen cabinets, rusty kitchen utensils, mildew, peeling ceiling paint, rusty water and a lack of any normal amenities make up for the rental being close to down town Fort Bragg (as listed in a previous review). ||We made our way downtown just to purchase additional items for the kitchen,it was so bad! ||If the owners took some time to fix a few things it might be nice, but until then please do not waste your money.

Great price and beautiful grounds! Cabins are quaint and close to the beaches. The only downside was the water tasted awful - take your own. We will go back in the future (with bottled water).

I reached out to the owner 4 weeks in advance. She finally responded 3 and a half weeks later via email, and we scheduled a llama tour. She then canceled 3 days before and via email! I get the feeling this is a side business that they don't take seriously or professionally. Maybe it was great once upon a time.
