Easy access right off of the highway, plenty of parking, just watch your speed and angle due to the entrance height. Amazing views of the different excavations that took place and plenty of info to learn about its history. Definitely stop here is you are going to or coming from Bisbee. They even have cutouts in the fencing for you to put your camera through for pictures.

While I am saddened by what we humans have done to Mother Earth, this huge hole in the ground does inspire awe. It's amazing what people have been able to achieve. This mine is a testament to human industry.

While the average onlooker cannot go into the mine, it's free to stop in this outdoor visitor center of sorts and read about mining history and look out over the pit. Looking at this massive excavation does make one feel small.

Actually disappointing from seeing pictures online. It’s behind a huge hill and we tried to see it from different angles and just caught possibly a glimpse of the corner of it but certainly couldn’t tell the pit was lavender or anything else.
It’s completely fenced off as you would expect with showing the open pit mine but we’re unable to get an angle to see it well. At least it’s free unlike most other things in the area.
