Our stay at Latitude 71 exceeded our expectations. The accommodations are immaculate, beautiful, and very comfortable. The hostess is warm and gracious. Her restaurant recommendations were spot on. She connected us with a local, Native Alaskan, tour guide which was awesome (see the bear photo!), and even permitted a delayed check out.

Our stay in Barrow couldn't have been any more perfect. Susan and Myron are real folks who have many years experience hosting tired, excited, confused, and hungry travelers, who they handle with patience and grace. The facility is a true home away from home. Immaculately clean and comfortable. Delicious food and coffee. Easy access to other businesses and sites. We highly recommend Latitude 71 B and B.

Great experience! The host was a wealth of information and breakfast was delicious. Not quite on the ocean but an easy walk and right next to two markets.

We are very grateful we decided to stay at this B&B for our trip to Barrow. Susan and Myron are wonderful hosts, and made us feel at home in their comfortable and clean place. They arranged for our tour to Barrow point with native guides who were able to tell us about their culture and as a bonus we were able to see a large pod of Beluga whales feeding and frolicking about. We ate dinner and breakfast at the B&B, Susan is a fantastic cook, serving home cooked meals and make sure we had plenty to eat. The next day after checkout time, they provided a lounge area as our home base where we could leave our bags as we toured around town, fridge space for our take out lunch leftovers, and a place to kick back and rest until we were able to board our evening flight (which had been delayed). This is by far the best place to stay in this remote town. Thank you Susan and Myron for a wonderful stay in Barrow!

I finally took my dream vacation to the Arctic, and am so glad that I chose Latitude 71 for my stay. Susan and Myron were the perfect hosts and their home was absolutely gorgeous. Susan really made me feel welcome as I tagged along with her on some of her errands to see what living in Barrow is really like. As a solo female traveler, I also really appreciated her concern for me, that I would not put myself in unsafe circumstances with unknown people or polar bears. The food was top quality, and the home was full of Arctic artifacts that submerged you in the culture. Will definitely return for future trips!

I have stayed with Susan and Myron while visiting on business almost every year for 6 years now and I continue to go back. In my opinion, quite possibly the best stay in the state, and certainly in Barrow. ||Amazing people who are down to earth, bend over backwards for you to help you not only with your stay, but also have helped me with various business contacts and connections for shipping to and from barrow, how to find the best service there, etc. ||Local knowledge, history and stories to share in the evenings and the food… you may not want to leave. For a very reasonable price you can add meals onto your stay and it will rival some of the bests restaurants in Alaksa. Susan truly makes very good home scratch cooked meals! ||Meeting others from around the world while sitting around the dinner or breakfast table is always interesting ||It’s not just a place to stay. It’s like extended family of the North and a beautiful home/BNB… and spotless. ||They have spent years and much effort to truly make this a little home away from home getaway so I would recommend them for your next stay in Barrow. I will be back again soon.

Latitude 71 BnB and its owners, Susan and Myron McCumber, definitely deserve their 5-star reviews. Box 1388, Barrow, AK USA 99723] We were given a queen room on the ground floor that was well-appointed, extremely clean, and comfortable with WIFI and cable TV in the room. There are 4 spotless bathrooms for the 10 rooms they rent, so we never had any waits. They prepare a copious and delicious breakfast each morning for the guests. We had the option of reserving other meals too, although we choose to either eat out or have food delivered. The dining choices are limited to about 3-4 places in town. One evening, while we were playing a game at the table, Susan offered us each a complimentary glass of wine. Most of the other guests were bird watchers, a unique group of travelers who flock to this coast just like the birds who nest here in the summer. In the other months, they rent long-term to contractors working on various construction projects. We recommend this BnB without reservation!
