Wonderful place to stay with kids and grandparents. They had a great time in the pool and on the beach. Enjoyed the restaurant, and proximity to other food options. Beds and pillows are very comfortable. We also enjoyed ping pong on the patio. Loved the free coffee stand in the mornings (though no decaf or non-dairy options).

Rooms are spacious, bed and pillows super comfortable. Food and old fashions were excellent. So glad we spent the night after visiting friends in San Diego. We ate dinner and breakfast at the shores restaurant. Had clam chowder and the fish tacos for dinner. Lemon ricotta pancakes 🥞 for breakfast. Everything was absolutely excellent.

I loved the location… being able to walk out the door to the beach, the cafés and restaurants nearby. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room and bed were comfortable. And the restaurant food was wonderful! I would definitely stay here again!

I accidentally booked this hotel through a third party. When I googled the hotel a website ljshoreshotel.com comes up first. I called spoke with hotel reservations…. I requested a certain room with kitchen facing beach, the rep confirmed. Upon arrival I was informed of the 3rd party reservation and that I would need to pay additional fees. Two night and the “fees” plus parking added up to $830. This was in addition to $1250 i paid. I get into the room and there is not a kitchen and room doesn’t face the beach. Immediately I phone the front desk and was informed there is nothing they can do…. i call the reservation number to try and leave but it was a non cancellation policy. The agent places a “ticket” of my complaint stating they will investigate. Few days and I received an email stating a refund is coming w/in ten days. It’s been 22 days and no response or refund. |The pool was closed, on 12/31 for most of the day and all night - this is a bummer for the kids on NYE!!! |I sat in the bar waiting for the bartender to acknowledge me after 13 minutes he asked me what I wanted to drink. Btw I was about 3 feet from him. I ordered chicken fingers they are dry and burned, a grilled cheese that was cold and burnt so this has to be the worst food in La Jolla. Hotel has terrible service and a scam website to make reservations and be over charged. Huge disappointment!!!

The laid back casual comforts of The Shores is the perfect place for family vacations. Situated on the beach, there's kayak and surfing activities or the Birch Aquarium close by. You have a delicious choice of food options at the restaurant & bar either inside or outside around fire pits. ||Right around the corner is a small charming village with a wide variety of restaurants, coffee bars and places to shop. There's games set up in the courtyard like ping pong and foosball, plus the pool and hot tub are heated.||The staff is amazing and always happy to help, this will become our family winter reunion.

Stayed 4 nights room was serviced once. Bartenders will try to sell you real estate and a homeless guy wandered in from the beach to enjoy the pool and hot tub. Close to several decent restaurants and right on the beach. Very convenient and not too expensive.

Rooms are spacious, beds are large, plush and cozy. ||||Can't beat the view, location- proximity to the Shores beach and playground & unparalleled full sunset views from Shores restaurant & bar. Won't find a more relaxing place to stay! ||||Pool is heated and enjoyable for our 4 yr old in December!||||Perfect for families & couples seeking true local la jolla vibe steps from longtime well known quaint local favorite restaurants like Marine Room, Barbella & Osteria Romantica (our family's favorite). Thrifty's for ice cream & pizza next door for quick casual grab and go bites.

We booked this hotel through Travel Zoo and thought “why not try it out!”|They must be giving travel zoo people the most run down, ghetto rooms or the advertisement photos are super old. Our room was VERY dated and both room and bathroom run down. They literally take a flat white sheet and lay it over the blanket. Zero effort put into the room. TV barely worked as the remote was super old. Checking in the front desk staff girl was very friendly and kind. We decided to eat dinner at the hotel that night and opted for a table on the Lounge side. There were two bartenders and I wish I had gotten his name (big guy) because he could not have been more indifferent to us being there. Very unfriendly and when our order wasn’t complete he watched the poor bus boy who ran our food struggle to figure it out. Never came over. Never checked on us nothing. Looking back we should have tipped the other guy instead. We won’t go back. |My husband was really glad we didn’t pay full price for the rooms. We were looking up other hotels in the area while we were there and found one we will try next time. Be aware of the daily resort fee they tag on when you get there; $35-40 something like that. Save the $45 parking and park on the street. |Check out was easy and again front desk girl was very kind.
