Great staff and service, and great location for a wedding venue.
I strongly recommend getting yourself one of the renovated rooms, as it is far superior to the ones that aren't - in terms of the cleanliness and amenities. Depending on the room, the view is just simply breathtaking as well. I was fortunate when they upgraded my room to get a nice view of the cove. (Even from the 1st floor it was still amazing.)
You will be able to hear the sea lions occasionally, I personally did not mind it and enjoyed the one-of-a-kind experience.

Beautifully updated, comfy beds and the rain shower was wonderful. Staff was helpful and friendly. The only thing missing was an in room coffee maker and a relaxing recliner to sit in prior to bedtime. Great TV options, all premium channels are free.

The hotel has a great location next to the water and close to downtown LA Jolla. Periodically there is a pretty bad smell from the beach depending on the wind. The hotel has an updated part that looks nice. The rooms have comfortable beds. Unfortunately the AC did not work and the controls were way too complicated for a hotel room. The hallway lights blast the room at night and the curtains are too small to cover completely so it’s very bright. Overall we felt the hotel was way overpriced for the quality and lack of comfort. Definitely paying for the location.

I feel my stay deserved a 3.5* rating; I'll round up to a 4*.||I attended a wedding. The reception took place on the roof of this facility. I booked a room here as a convenience.||So let me get these out of the way, first:|| I was assigned a room on the fourth floor. During the wedding reception, I went to my room to change. During my time there, noise from the party emanated from the rooftop into the room. When the staff was cleaning up after the event, and the next morning when staff was setting up for the day, the reverberation of moving furniture also seeped into the room. This did not|bother me; but I can see how this noise would not align with the expectations of others.|| In the shower, there were two valves: one for hot water; one for cold water. In the morning, I took a shower with both valves fully open. Somewhere, someone must have flushed a toilet. I was aware and noticed that the water was getting warmer rapidly. I got out of the way as a stream of very hot water came through. This happened three times during my shower.||So, let's get on with the review ...||Booking ::||I booked my room via a travel aggregation website. The reception began before the official check in; the room was not ready. However, reception provided a text notification when the room became available. Check in was otherwise friendly and efficient.||Parking ::||If you have a vehicle, there is a daily parking fee.||Location ::||La Jolla Cove, Boomer Beach, Ellen Browning Scripps Park (to name a few designated spots) are right across the street. If you want proximity to the water, this is a good hotel. The hotel's location is also walkable to food and retail on Prospect Street.||Hotel Room ::||I will speak about the room I was assigned ...||Based on the room size and floorplan, I think this portion of the hotel was designed and built in the 1960s/1970s. It is well maintained, but it is dated.||The square footage is small; the bathroom is functional, but very small by modern standards.||On the plus side: The carpet was clean. The bed was reasonably comfortable; the sheets were clean and in good condition. The towels were not plush, but they were clean. The furniture was clean.||If your plan is to engage in activities and need the room as a place to simply sleep and clean up, the room I had is perfectly fine. If you are looking for a room in which to luxuriate, this room won't meet your expectations.||I was chatting with my friend (father of the bride). He told me that the wedding entourage stayed in the "newer" wing of the hotel, and it was nicer; and that management was preparing to remodel the section I stayed in. But this is hearsay.||Final note: The staff who hosted the reception were top notch.

I called directly to the hotel specifically get a king bed ocean view room in the updated part of the hotel. Called the hotel directly and they said they made sure to give me what i asked for and it would be $100 extra which came to a total of $625 instead of $525 . When i got there the front desk said i did not in fact have that room in the updated and that calling the hotel reservation line gets things wrong all the time and that i would of needed to call to front desk next time to make sure the hotel didn't make any mistakes. He then charged me another $100 at the door making my experience a total of $725.00 . We then got a room with two full size beds that did not fit my husband and I. We even had to be asked to move off the 2nd floor because there was absolutely no privacy. He quickly gave us a better room. Not sure why that wasn't given on the front end. I will never stay at this hotel again. Or recommend anyone . I live in San Diego , I would of rather stayed at my home.

Hotel is situated right on the seashore, great views. A little cosmetic facelift is in order, aside from a leak in one of the rooms everything else was fine. It was raining heavily that day. Nice access to sea lions on the beach - Quick visit while we were in town. Very reasonably priced

Lovely hotel with awesome inspiring views of the ocean. Extremely clean rooms with simple but elegant decor. The room was on the corner and very quiet at night. Efficient and friendly staff. Everything you need to visit La Jolla.

Have you ever gone on an online date and they weren’t exactly how they portrayed themselves? Well, this wasn’t like that at all. We booked this hotel and were not told we were in the “unfinished” and “unfurnished” side of the creepy murder hotel. Every picture on the website looked as if it were this new remodeled hip boutique motel. My wife and I get there and see quite immediately that only about a quarter if that of motel is “remodeled”. The lobby is trying to be a boutique and our some new artwork and we are told where are room is and of course on murder side. We walk over to the janky and slow elevator and get to our room. We quickly realized that pictures we saw were just of a new artwork on wall and room was so gross and dirty, musty and on and on. We nicely complained to the motel and you could tell this was not first complaint. We were met with gaslighting and you saw your room in photos. Well, the extreme close photoshopped “beauty” shots were or just top of bed and new artwork. Not the disgusting floors and barely covered windows with delightful view of parking lot. They overcharged us and took days to get money back and instead of having good service or switching our room, they were basically like too bad and which hotel doesn’t photoshop. This was a direct quote from staff. We wrote management with pictures for a full refund and of course haven’t heard anything back. Just charge what it is worth, it’s a seedy and dirty place and you should be embarrassed to even rent it out especially for the price we paid.
