I was visiting my Son and Daughter-in-law in San Diego and on March 20, 2025 we were searching for sub shops and came across Knockout Deli on Alvarado. We decided to try them. I ordered online via Toast. When my Son went to pick the oder up (the site said it would be ready in 15 minutes), the place was Closed. After checking with another location, we found out the Alvarado location is possibly going out of business. Apparently they are only open a couple of hours in the afternoon. I have left several messages to contact me. I have not been able to reach them. My bank is working to recover the money. Beware, there website shows open and normal business hours.

New location, so I'm cutting slack. Only issue was that they had no roles so he didn't recommend it get the big sandwich because it would be too hard to eat. Then the next sandwich I wanted, they had no roast beef or lettuce. So I finally settled on a 1/2 pound hot pastrami, and it was absolutely delicious!

They will fix the hiccups!

I had the absolute best sandwich (John Gotti) at Knockout Deli!! Not only was it one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had, but I was also given extra sides and two different soup samples. They also asked what I wanted to watch on TV while I dined in. They are very friendly and went out of their way to make my experience exceptional. The place is clean, tidy, and quiet, providing an optimal dining experience. If you’re looking for a great sandwich, soup, or salad, this is your place! I can’t wait to come back and try more items on the menu

The food is great but service...wow, lots to improve. I had already paid for my meal but I couldn't get a cup for water. It's fine, I paid for a drink and moved it along. However, the person at the register was either super new or totally incapable of common sense. Food was great. If you are stopping by this place, just go with lots of patience.

I've been coming to the Knockout Deli on Alvarado a few times now and each experience has been great. For starters, what I really like about the Knockout deli is their variety in food options. This establishment carries breakfast items, their signature knockout sandwiches, healthy wraps, hot/cold sandwiches, burgers, dessert, and a variety of drinks. Their menu is so versatile and the large selection of options makes it a great place to satisfy everyone's cravings.
I ordered the Shish Kabob Pita (pictured) and this item was great. The vegetables were fresh and crisp, the meat was juicy, and the pita held everything together really well. It comes with a side of Tzatziki, which added a nice creamy and tangy taste to complement the meat and vegetables. Additionally, it came with a side of either potato or mac salad. I've always gone with the mac salad and I like how light and sweet it is.
Lastly, the owners and workers at this establishment have been nothing but kind and compassionate to me. The owner is truly passionate about his craft and he's always excited to recommend specific food items on the menu. You can tell he truly cares about serving high-quality and fresh food to the customers. He is always excited to present the food and goes out of his way to make sure you had a great experience at the knockout deli. He's kind, welcoming, compassionate, and friendly to everyone and deserves recognition for his efforts.
If you're ever by Alvarado Rd give Knockout deli a try. It is located across from the Alvarado station and next to the Alvarado Hospital Medical Center. It is newly built and deserves way more recognition. This place is my go to for easy, reliable, and good eats.

I got the screwie Louie very good with pickle and Mac salad. the Mac side portion was tiny . I'm surprised there aren't more people here, average sandwich prices for San Diego and right under an apt building across from the train station.
I stumbled upon it by looking for food after being at Alvarado hospital. def check it out if you're in this area and lookin for a good sandwich.

This place is AWESOME. came in for the first time with one of my friends, we didn’t know what to get and the owner was extremely helpful. We ended up getting the chicken wrap and the Turkey wrap. Both were insanely good, I got Mayo on my Turkey wrap and their Mayo is so good. We also got a side salad which had the best pepperonis on it ever. Their potato salad was wonderful too. 10/10 I’ll definitely be back. Probably tomorrow.
