Staying at Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge was the highlight of our honeymoon. Fox Island is such a beautiful, tranquil place, and everyone there consistently went the extra mile to make our stay special. We particularly loved our kayaking trip (on which we saw a bear grabbing a salmon from a river!) and the evening of s'mores around the fire. The quality of the food was also spectacular throughout our stay.||On our final day, just as our boat was arriving, a family of river otters even came to join us on the beach. It's hard to overstate what a special place Fox Island is.

We had a great time on Fox Island, and everything from the Alaska Railroad from Anchorage, the shuttle to the small boat dock, and the trip to Fox Island were part of a Pursuit package and went as planned. Wendi the naturalist was there to meet us. Our first night we were the only visitors, so Wendi was our point of contact for most everything, not just the environmental talks. She explained that a number of staff had been given time off given the lack of guests that night. The food was excellent and plentiful, particularly at breakfast and dinner. Kayaking the next day was fun. Very calm water with views of puffins, bald eagles, otters, and sea stars. Dani was a great kayaking helper and guide. On the island we saw bald eagles, lots of tiger jellies, and a porcupine. The Northwestern Glacier tour boat took us on a beautiful cruise through the Kenai Fjords and back to Seward.

We stayed at the lodge on Fox Island last weekend in the middle of a two week camper van trip around the Kenai Peninsula. From the moment we got on the Kenai Fjords tour boat we were treated like VIPs with saved seats and special attention. We were lucky to see Orcas playing in the bay on the way out to Fox Island. The lodge has stunning views from the dining area and deck worthy of relaxing all day. The food was fantastic with special mention of the soups and creative salads for lunch. Our cabin was cozy with a very comfortable queen bed and plenty of space to spread out our wet clothes to dry. We kayaked with Sunny Cove and excellent guides Tasha and Taylor, used the paddle boat, sat in the sauna and enjoyed s’mores by the campfire with other guests. The staff was very attentive and knowledgeable with special mention for Wendy the naturalist and her evening “drinks and thinks” natural trivia, Sean for serving great drinks and starting our fires and server Blue as well as the chefs for the excellent meals. What a treat this was in the middle of a camping trip!

We decided to stay at Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge for our first time to Alaska since the lodge was all inclusive and the two excursions included (Kayaking and Fjord boat tour) were two activities we were interested in. ||||After staying at this property for two days, I would highly recommend it to others who are looking for a nice remote retreat that is not too far away from Anchorage. What stood out the most is the beauty and remote nature of Fox Island and the incredible staff who assisted us there. ||||The minute we reached the island we were greeted with the staff who walked us to our private lunch catered by the island chef. Our private cabin, albeit limited in terms of electricity had everything we needed and was quite comfortable.||||We spent a lot of time with Wendy, who was the island nature guide that took us on guided nature tours and knew so much about the history of the island. Thank you Wendy for your kindness and generosity, Your love for the island and nature shows with the passion you have for the job.||||The one thing we didn't have a chance to do, due to our time constraints was a fishing trip, something Kenai Fjords didn't offer. However, that aside, we enjoyed our stay here and would definitely consider coming back again. Thank you Kenai Fjords for an amazing first trip to Alaska.

I initially wrote a 5 star review because I thought their customer service was good. However, after I wrote the review, they stopped being good. The island flooded while I was there and after hours of runaround, they helped find alternate accommodations and offered a refund. However, they never came through with the refund. I have spent hours trying to get $3200 back, and now they simply won't respond to calls. "Oh, the manager is out, they'll call you back." sure. The alternate accommodations did not include a kayak tour, or meal, or any of the experience we paid for, and yet somehow a night in a hotel is worth 3 grand? No. Things go wrong when traveling in Alaska, most places will work with you. This place will scew you over.

A few days here was a wonderful way to relax after traveling from Europe. The accommodation, food and staff made it a very enjoyable stay. It was great fun to spot wildlife from the comfort of the dining room and from the kayaks when we paddled along the coast.

This place is absolutely worth the price. Between the location, the lodge, the food, the cabins, and most importantly, the amazing staff- you will feel so supported and taken care of. The lodge sits on a secluded island with minimal service and WiFi and really gives you a chance to unplug and relax. They have a private chef that is extremely attentive to dietary needs/restrictions. Their staff is absolutely amazing. They have a naturalist (Wendy) who adds a whole other level to this experience with her knowledge of the area and wildlife. We had Sean and Tiffany as our servers for most of our stay and they are incredible. ||||We chose this stay as a “we’ll only be able to do this once” type of opportunity and we quickly realized that we will be back again. You will not be disappointed booking this trip.
