Contacted the hotel over a month before my planned stay to cancel and spoke to Linda. I had to cancel due to a change in route. She stated she would cancel with no penalty. I just checked my credit card and lo and behold there is the room charge. I had to call and be screamed at by the owner in spite of their mistake. They claim they have refunded now but refused to provide a confirmation so I cannot feel confident that they have given they already promised to do this once before and didn’t follow through. The owner shamed me for asking for the refund claiming it’s only a couple dollars what’s the big deal (124 dollars and also if it isn’t a big deal why not refund it?) I would avoid providing credit card information or maybe using one of the booking engines will offer more protection. Not a very professional organization so credit card and personal info may be at risk.

Excellent. Historic hotel with everything you would expect from the 1900's. A step back in time with the amenities of the present. Loved the room we were in. VERY comfortable beds and the temperature was perfect (even though it was freezing outside). Loved it.

Kempton Hotel is has a lot of local charm. The owners acquired this hotel that has been in operation since 1902 approximately 35 years ago, they have been lovingly renovating it without ruining its old time charm. The owners are considerate and responsive. The rooms are decorated individually and some of them have original artworks in them. It makes it really convenient that there is a microwave and a refrigerator inside the room. The refrigerator has a small freezer inside it.

What a gem this charmed historic hotel is topped off with the sweet warm hospitality of the hosts who are genuine and kind.

Upon entering the inviting classic foyer I was immediately bathed in a classy style of the Old West, cowboys and horsemen. Beautifully decorated with a treasure trove of antiquities; furniture, saddles, paintings and trinkets of the era it became clear how much care has been put in to breathing precious new life into this proud old building.

All this is wrapped in the delicious bow of that nostalgic antique wooden smell. Like walking through an old town’s courthouse or schoolhouse that clean antique wood smell, the Kempton Hotel gives a delightful glimpse of quality turn-of-the-century character and nestled in a quiet Montana province called Terry.

We went to Terry for the county fair (my boyfriend was part of the live music), and I can’t justify with words exactly how pleasantly surprised I was that this gem was tucked away in such a humble unnoticeable Montana town. This place is not cookie cutter pristine perfection, but it does have something hotels like that will never posses. It is so rich in uniqueness. A true working art. I’ve never been to a hotel like this, and I believe I never will find one quite this unique again.

If you get a chance to converse with the owner in his library, I highly recommend you take it. Brilliant man with a hotel I believe he has poured his soul into.

This was probably the most unique, interesting hotel experience I've ever had!

On the surface, sure, it's dated. Stained wallpaper, cracked ceiling and paint, rusted sinks and shower. "Sleepy town" is an understatement.

But it's clear there's so much heart put into this place. Little updated things here and there, plus plenty of amenities in both the rooms and shared bathroom. Everything was clean and the bed was SO comfortable! The window unit worked perfectly, so we were nice and cool all night, and it was nice and quiet. No weird smells either.

An odd find, but I'm grateful for the hospitality!

We really enjoyed our stay here. Linda and Russ are warm and considerate hosts, and have clearly put a lot of love into this place over many years. If you’re looking for the holiday inn, this ain’t it, but staying at this quirky little jewel of a hotel will be an experience you’ll remember.

Is it pretty nice but it kind looked old and bruised in my room. The hotel didn’t have a pool but it’s OK. I like the trip I had to see my mom and dad. She works here. In the hotel had a coffee thing it looks creepy. It’s really nice. Good service location was good. The rooms were clean. I might go back in Missouri. It was pretty hard.

My friend who has property nearby thought that this hotel would be a nice place to stay when friends come to visit. Four of us walked in to take a look and inquire. We were not welcomed warmly. We felt like we were intruding on the card game that they were playing in the lobby. We were all taken aback by the lack of hospitality when we thought we were going into a nice historic friendly hotel. We left and we will not be utilizing this hotel.
