Jones, Novitiate, Range, and Manzanita Trail

Moderate trails have manzanita trees which have attractive wood and grow into twisted trees about 15 feet tall. The bark on the long, crooked branches is reddish.

Should go back for a spring day hike for the flowers and a summer day hike to look at the fruits.

Absolutely beautiful trails with Rolling Green Hills and lots of shade. The hike to Lexington Reservoir is one of my favorite hikes

Not a bad hike. Found a close parking spot easily. You can smell the trees and wild flowers, and get some good cardio done with the uphill. However, other aspects affected my experience: 1) The ever-present traffic noise from the highway. Forget about listening to the sounds of nature 2) Too crowded. The path is not wide so between cyclists speeding past, many other hikers and people taking their dogs for a stroll (and occasionally throwing the poop bags into the bushes), it's not a place for those who seek a quiet & relaxing time in the forest. It's ok for a convenient morning hike, given its location. Always pleasant to see the beautiful Los Gatos.

Nice local trail, gets very very busy in the mornings. There IS street parking. 90% of people on the trail had dogs. Gets muddy after rain. Initial part of trail is low upgrade.

Went hiking on Saturday 1/27/2024, was bitten by a tick and found ticks on our dogs so just an FYI. Use your repellant.

Trash cans at beginning of trail for waste bags.
