The waitresses were super friendly and attentive. I had the patty melt which was good but the onions were cut into chunks instead of slices and my mother had the loaded baked potato. That potato was the biggest potato I've ever seen. She wasn't too fond of it. Another couple mentioned that the fish was really good. Not sure if I'll go back.

I was very pleased with our meal and service at the Smokehouse. My ribs were juicy, tender, hot, and plenty of them. Service was fantastic, keeping our drinks filled and refreshed continuously. If we lived in the area, we would definitely make this a go-to spot. The prices were very reasonable based on other fast food joints and their prices for what we got here.

Great little family-owned American restaurant, serving sandwiches, BBQ, Catfish, and desserts. Food was exceptional and the service was top-notch. Definitely recommend when you're in the Red Bay area. They are only open for lunch on Sunday and are closed on Monday and Tuesday. Sunday lunch is a limited menu, but includes the salad bar, drink, and dessert for under $12 (Sept 2023). I definitely recommend the catfish fillets and the baked beans.

Great little spot in Red Bay, AL! Our server was so sweet! She was really young and did a better job than most servers who have been serving for years. We had the rib eye and smoked wings. They had a great salad bar that comes as one of your sides if you choose. Give them a try! You won’t be disappointed! J & V need a smokehouse in Las Vegas!! Thank you for a fun night, we will absolutely be back!!!

This place is awesome! Home cooked southern food, huge servings, very tasty, and served up with a smile by the owner who was so sweet while working hard to make sure everyone was satisficed and happy. The fried green tomatoes with their house made ranch dressing were sooooo good. We also had fried cabbage with bacon, smoked wings, curly fries, fried okra, pulled pork, mac & cheese and coconut cream pie. Nothing like real southern home cooking when in Red Bay, y'all need to run, don't walk to check out this new place. At lunch they serve a buffet and for $11.00 you get meat, 2 sides, bread, drink and dessert! We'll be sliding into that before we leave town.

The ribs were undercooked and the fat on the ribs wouldnt even rendered down so it was like chewing on a dog toy anybody who cooks ribs know you dont pull them off unless they are between 190 to 200 internal temp, fried green tomatoes were greasy they brought them out without letting them rest in the greaser for 1 minute, the steak was a thin cut of ribeye way overpriced and the baked potato was undercooked as well. Not trying to bash but there is definitely improvements that need to be made.

First time, last time. We went for an early dinner at 4 pm (anticipating a Saturday night rush). Greeted and seated promptly (we were the only ones in the entire restaurant). Hostess took our beverage order while we looked over the menu. Both hubby & I ordered the pulled pork dinner, he got baked potato & salad, and I, fries and onion rings (for him 😉 ). I also ordered fried green tomatoes with ranch (the hostess never heard of remoulade sauce). The salad and baked potato was seriously the best part of the entire meal! The fried green tomatoes were overcooked and saturate in what tasted like old oil. They had NO taste (outside of grease), and the side of ranch was no more than 1 TBS. To say that I was disappointed is seriously an understatement. Our pulled pork dinners came out COLD. The cold meat had NO flavor (keep in mind "Smokehouse" is in the name) and tasted like it sat all day (I think they attempted to re-heat it for our meal.) The fries were cooked, a little on the less cooked side, but nevertheless cooked. Hubby reports that the onion rings were good, albeit a bit on the greasier side. We are NOT picky eaters and thoroughly enjoy eating at local restaurants over chain restaurants. I'm not sure if this was just an "off" day for the cook, but overall, it was a very sad experience --- one which we will NOT repeat.

My recent visit to J & V Smokehouse left much to be desired. While the service was commendable, the food fell short of expectations. I opted for the catfish, hoping for a flavorful dish, but was met with disappointment as it lacked any discernible taste and was overly watery. The tartar sauce accompanying it was disappointingly reminiscent of plain mayonnaise, lacking the tang and zest expected. Even the sides, like the slaw and potato salad, were bland, requiring additional seasoning to salvage any semblance of flavor.

My wife’s choice of the Cajun grilled shrimp also failed to impress. Instead of the promised Cajun spice, the shrimp were overwhelmingly salty, making it difficult to enjoy.

Overall, our experience at J & V Smokehouse was underwhelming, and we’re left with little desire to give it another try.
