Since my husband and I had an awesome experience on our last trip to Japan with Intertrips back in 2020, we decided to do another for this year in March but this time as a private tour with our Family and close friends to Japan. As always Intertrips delivered exceptional service from beginning to end. They were very good at communicating and were always available to answer all of my questions. We loved all the hotels we stayed at and all the optional tours we went on along with our guides. Everyone in our group loved it and is already looking forward to doing another trip with Intertrips. Thank you Intertrips, especially to Wendy! You’re so awesome at what you do!

We did the Thailand and Cambodia tour. We really enjoyed the tour, but wished we weren’t in Bangkok as much as we were. Cambodia surprised us as well and we were pleasantly surprised. We found out after the trip that we could’ve switched our flights to be more accommodating which is good to know. Our group of 30 was so much fun and we lucked out on a great tour.

I’ve thought a lot about this review and want it to be informative and helpful. We had a great trip but I wouldn’t recommend as we didn’t get value for our money in Japan. However, Korea would have been hard to do without a tour company and so I’m glad we were with them for the Korea portion.

1. Transportation- they make you find your own transportation to and from the airport and don’t tell you before booking. That shocked me and everyone else on the trip! A huge reason I opted for a tour is ease of getting from the airport to the hotel. They don’t even provide it to the airport to go to Korea and 18 of us went!

2. Optional Tours- do your research because they over charge. The bullet train costs $90 a person but they charge $180. They say it’s because the tour guide will get you to and from the train station but they leave you in the Tokyo station anyway. But public transit is very easy in Japan so do this on your own. You’ll have to walk to the station yourself but it’s a 5 minute walk in Kyoto. In Tokyo they explain the train but you have to navigate it on your own whether you take the tour or not. All the other tours you could also do it all on your own for the low price of a subway ticket instead of the $95 they charge. If you want to do your own thing anyway this is a good tour bc nothing in Japan is included except one day when you are traveling from Tokyo to Kyoto

3. Tour Guides- they were great and helpful and a nice security to have.

4. Hotels- Two of them were really gross and small but the other two were amazing and a DREAM! You do not stay in the same place for very long on this tour. The Kyoto hotel and Seoul hotel were amazing! Breakfasts were just okay at every hotel. I made the mistake of looking of hotel prices and realizing I could have just booked the hotels and flights myself and saved some money .

Overall if you are looking for a tour company. I’d recommend Affordable World for Thailand or anywhere in Asia. That trip was an amazing value and well planned with included tours in the morning and free time in the afternoon! They don’t have a Japan/ South Korea combo which is why we went with this company instead.

I originally booked a Thailand and Hong Kong trip for January. Due to China closing to tourists, I asked to change the trip to Europe, as it was still open. It took quite a bit of negotiation and compromise but intertrips got me my vacation. They rarely initiated communication, but their service was great and they helped out many times to solve problems. It seemed to help when I would offer suggestions and alternatives to issues. I would use them again and recommend them, just understand that they don’t do refunds, so maybe don’t plan one out too far in advance to avoid disappointment. Daisy was the one who came through for me and provided the best customer service.

Originally booked a China trip In March of 2020. Allowed us to book any other trip. They would have only refunded $800 of our $4000 that we paid. So we opted for the 8 day Eastern Whispers trip. We booked an extra day at the beginning and end of tour. The tour was operated through Europamundo. A Spanish tour company. We didn't meet are actual guide until the 3rd day. He wasn't at the hotel we were assigned. We booked in January 23 and didn't get flights booked until July the price increased, we had to pay more. We were booked on basic economy. Couldn't upgrade seats. On the tour after first lunch stop we had people leave tour for Switzerland and another group from Italy join the remainder of group. And small group or Arabic speakers with their guide and interpreters. Seems like group always changing. Bus held 50 people, you weren't allowed to use the toilet on board. No assigned seats, first come first served. Except front seats occupied by guides and interpreters. No notice placed in first hotel as to when we were leaving. Bus arrived 45 min. Late. We had to be on time but bus often wasn't on time. 3-4 different tours on bus that went to same cities. We booked optional tours in Advance and they tried to book same night said dinner theater full. It took over a week to get refunds. Only the last extra dinner happened because we were picked up by the Spanish tour group arrived late to dinner, sitting in the far back corner. Couldn't see the stage. Didn't know names of hotels until 24 hours before we left. None of the hotels were on our original booking itinerary. All of the hotels were fine. None of them in downtown or city center. Never been on a bus tour that had groups of people getting on and off tour before. The sights were amazing, the local guides were great. No response from shuttle service when were involved in a car accident when the driver rear ended the car in front of us. In Prague, Vienna and Budapest the hotel were close to bus or subway stops. Plenty of time allowed to get dinner or food at stops.

I booked a so-called 10 day trip to Beijing, Xi’an and Shanghai, China. The tour guide in Beijing, was named Lisa and she was a racist. My flight departed IAH at 12:05 am on 12/05/2018 and arrived at 4:45 am on 12/06/2018. Before I could get out of the airport Lisa had called the bus driver asking for me to say that I had not paid for a tour I had signed up for and indeed paid for. I asked Lisa what in the world she was talking about as that tour was scheduled for Day 3. She said oh no it is for today and I need you to pay the driver. I told her I had an invoice proving I had paid but it was in my luggage and when I got checked into my hotel room I would show it to her. Forty/five minutes later, as I’m in a van with eight other woman and the driver, his phone is passed to me and again it’s Lisa wanting to know the invoice number. Now all nine of our luggage was loaded into the back of this van and this idiot is still dunning me for proof that I had paid for a ticket on a tour for day 3. Then she let me know THIS was day 3!! How? I just got into the country an hour ago but this is considered day 3? Seems that from the moment I left my home in Houston I was already on the tour even though I was still in my car driving down loop 610! I told her again when I check into the hotel I will provide proof and to not call me again. I gave this person my invoice after checking into the hotel and after that she had nothing to say to me, even if I asked her a question. On her last day in Beijing she approached me on the tour bus and had the nerve to ask if my Michael Kors bag was real! Seems her ‘friends’ were going to be at our hotel selling knock-off handbags and she wanted to give me their room number so she could put some more of my money in her pocket. I can buy knock-off handbags right here in Houston don’t need to fly out of the country for that. Lisa was a nasty little woman who continually looked down her nose at me unless she was trying to get some of that green stuff to fly out of my wallet into hers. China was a one time trip for me and I won’t be returning.

After this review I was contacted by Alex at Intertrips who apologized profusely for the less than pleasant experience I had on the tours in Beijing. At a token of my updating this review he send me a stuffed animal and two Starbucks gift cards.
