Start of a month long road trip--left Palm Springs, CA & needed an overnight stop on my way to Running Y Ranch resort in Oregon. Decided to use some Wyndham Rewards credits towards a night at the Howard Johnson Hotel in downtown Stockton. The manager called me twice while I was driving to Stockton to see if I needed a handicapped accessible room. I said NO I did not need handicapped room. I checked in and was given a room on first floor near pool. The pool was closed "due to toxic chemicals". My room door would not open with key card so a maintenance guy came and replaced batteries. The bathroom light switch was defective and took numerous pushes to get the light to turn on. NO TV--cable down according to maintenance guy. NO Ice machine on site. The AC unit barely pumped out cool air. Got up during night to use bathroom and discovered broken toilet paper dispenser and NO toilet paper and NO Kleenex in dispenser! In AM went to shower... no wash cloth or hand towels--Only two bath towels--one with big stain. The manager had told me the night before they are no longer serving breakfast. They are supposedly in the process of remodeling but it was hard to see any signs of it. I think its very unwise to keep a small section of the hotel open to accommodate booked reservations. It would make better sense to refer reservations to other hotels and proceed with full speed ahead desperately needed remodel! I am surprised that Howard Johnsons and Wyndham would continue to operate a hotel in such a SAD state!

Called Wyndham Rewards while driving and booked this hotel without doing any research. Big mistake! Location is very inner-city, a very run-down area, lots of shuttered businesses and homeless people all around the area. Do not walk around at night near this hotel! Room appeared clean but furnishings were very worn. Our TV screen and an art canvas on the wall had been slashed with a knife by a previous guest (now I understand why they put a deposit on your credit card in case guests do any damage). The security latch on our door was broken - no excuse for this - it would take a handyman about 10 mins to replace the latch. The bed had no mattress pad, just a bottom sheet directly on the mattress. The entire back side of the hotel appeared to be abandoned rooms, not being used. On the 3rd floor deck, there was a big piece of plywood blocking off one side of the hotel and I peeked behind it and there was just a pile of old furniture, mattresses, etc. being stored outside (but under cover). I was told there was an elevator but it was 'under maintenance' so we had to haul our luggage up to the 3rd floor. The breakfast was a joke. They had 2 kinds of cold cereal but no bowls. I went to the front desk to ask for bowls and was told they don't have any. So, I guess they expect guests to eat cereal out of paper coffee cups. The milk was just sitting out on the counter - not on ice nor in an insulated container. There was some bread and bagels and a toaster with a cube of margarine, but no plastic knives to spread the butter or cream cheese - so we had to use plastic spoons to butter our toast. Someone had spilled dry cereal all over the floor - probably trying to pour it into a cup. There were no attendants cleaning up the breakfast room or replenishing the food items while I was in there. All of the walkways were filthy with cigarette butts all over, gum, grease stains - the whole place is badly in need of a high-pressure hosing! Our shower had mildew all around it and the washcloth was badly stained. The toilet in ‘suite’ 317 kept running long after each flush. The employees were helpful - I felt sorry for them - they are trying to make the best of a very bad situation.|

Let me start....the reviews are very true, customer service is horrible, when you can locate the office.. rooms are extremely dirty and should not be rented out.. I had the worst stay! The washcloths are stained and dirty, towels are thin should be rags, rooms not painted, my bathroom shower ceiling was not even painted after having a previous leak. No blankets and 1 pillows for each bed, yes 1 pillow on each bed, again called office and NO answer all night. I even asked the cleaning lady to see if I could get blankets and pillows and she I had to wait until she was done making her rounds but yet again never saw anybody no one came to the room no one offered for help and no one called us back. Roaches on the window seal in the next room, pool was closed and had shoes left in pool area not cleaned up. As I was checking out the lady in front which I remember when I checked in the customer service lady said that was the owner and as I was checking out it was the same lady and she asked how my stay was I told her horrible gave her all the points and things that were done wrong and should have been fixed and she stated she was going to give me a discount honestly it should have been a refund $87 for a room like that should be inhabitable someone should not have to stay in a room like that and then yet not be able to get ahold of the office for anything and the discount that I got was $10 yes they gave me a $10 discount not a refund but a $10 discount look elsewhere do not stay here horrible customer service horrible management and it's already starting off as horrible owners stay away find somewhere else cleaner. And they say they have breakfast a continental breakfast all they had was bread to make toast and about a quarter of an inch of milk.

The price says $51, but I was quoted $89 for two beds, 1 adult 3 children. There's a crazy $150 key deposit! I've only stayed once because there are never any rooms available. That time I was looking forward to the nice room in the pictures but was given a room with everything really old! The remote had no batteries and the toilet didn't work.

Never in a million years will I stay here again. I booked a week, but didn't make it through the first night. I assumed the motel was going under some kind of renovation, but there were no contractors there. Hallways were blocked off with old dirty mattresses, windows were boarded up with sheets of pressed wood. There was no working elevator so I had to schlep my things up three flights of stairs. The lock to the door of my room was recently replaced with an electronic one, which would've been great, if the old removed lock didn't leave a huge hole in the front door. The towels in the bathroom looked and felt like they had been used and unwashed from the previous guest. The minute I closed the door I could hear trap music and groans coming from the room next door. There was a thin sheet and blanket on the bed with a single flat pillow. The remote control was so sticky I couldn't touch it, and it didn't matter, as the batteries were dead. There were homeless men rifling through the garbage cans at the bottom of the stairwell, so when I tried to walk back to my car, I was instead cornered and asked for money. Homeless people and prostitutes congregated and spent the night in the parking lot; when I checked out the next morning I had to wake one of them up who was sleeping between my car and another car. I had to wait till morning to check out as there was no front desk overnight, which I found out when I tried to call to ask for a room change because I could hear everything through the thin walls, and what I heard was the loud prostitute for hire at 3 in the morning. It was like a 24 hour nightmare. Between the loud music, the fights, and the hookers, I didn't sleep. I just sat on my bed and waited till morning to leave.

This is the WORST hotel I have ever stayed at. It is filthy and run down. I had to change rooms 2 times because of multiple issues including no towels, uses soap, no toilet paper, no phone, the door handle falling off door, no security lock....and on and on. It is cheap, but they seem to struggle with the basics like putting towels and toilet paper and bedding in the rooms. Garbage in the hallways and all over the place, it smells and is just dirty. Should not get even one star.

The property looks really nice on the website (pictures are incredibly misleading) and when you pull up to it, it looks decent. Its not. The front door to check-in doesnt even open automatically... the room! Omg. The bed is hard, pillows were big but didnt keep shape. The toilet.... the damn toilet had a peice of plywood on the tank and had a MUCH SMALLER tank-top (idk what theyre called) ontop of that. The walls are scratched up. No real locks. I wish I hadnt spent my money here.

Very bad hotel. Our room was not cleaned. Lights did not work and very insecure door. Receptionist said she would tell manager and give us a discount, but next morning, there was a different receptionist (Ruby) who called the manager (Gloria) with no luck. She took my number so manager could call, and I never got a call back.||Breakfast was in a cold dirty room with no-one but a homeless man eating fruit loops, no breakfast except coffee and stale white bread.||I would not want my worst enemy to stay here. Please don't waste your money here.||Gloria is running an awful excuse for a hotel.
