We were looking for a quiet place to eat some lunch and get some work done. House of Bread was perfect. With a sunny patio to sit on, a filling sandwich, yummy baked treats, and hot coffee, we enjoyed our meal and will definitely be back.

Would have better photos, but it was too delicious to delay eating...

Went twice to this location. The gentleman at the front desk appears fully disengaged with both his work and customers. The first time I visited I bought an apple cinnamon swirl loaf, which I later sliced open to find no cinnamon swirl inside. Their cookies & sourdough are fine.

The second time we went on a Sunday, and the business opens later on Sundays. We arrived when they opened. Many of their frosted items were still hot when we arrived and so could not be frosted & sold. Since the business decides when to open and can't be surprised by it's own hours, we were disappointed that the business doesn't seem to be operated so that shelves are stocked when the business opens. Gave up and left after 20 minutes of waiting.

Pretty expensive. Sandwich tastes great. I had the Western (Beef with Horseradish on Sourdough bread). Was $30+ for whole Sandwich, chicken Noodle Soup, four cookies and two drinks (sweet tea). Like I said, was very delicious, but pricey.

I don't write reviews and especially bad reviews. But my experience with House of Bread in Anchorage today has left me with a sour taste in my mouth.
I ordered through Door Dash a veggie sandwich, soup and a loaf of cinnamon raisin swirl bread.
It was delivered timely by the Door Dash Driver.
This is what House of Bread thinks is superior food and service:
* My loaf of Bread was MISSING
* My veggie sandwich which was supposed to not have lettuce and have cucumber was wrong and it was DISGUSTING. I took a few pics before throwing it away. (it was for my son and I would never let him eat something that looked like GARBAGE) Please see the pics. The lettuce (which they were supposed to withhold to begin with, was brown. The avocado was totally black and uneatable. It looked like someone took these items from the trash and made a sandwich with it. The bread was stale to the touch.
I called House of Bread and they had 0 hospitality regarding this order - they didn't care at all. They told to talk to Door Dash to get a refund. (and this was after the phone person spoke to the manager) No caring about the horrible sandwich or the missing bread. No offer of trying to do better next time.
This place has been going downhill for months but I wanted to give it another try. So sad that they are now subpar. I will now give my business to Great Harvest.
The most disturbing part of this is that they owners of House of Bread will not even care about this review or about what others are saying about their establishment.

The cinnamon rolls are 5 stars hands down.
Be specific about type of sandwich you prefer, they have amazing ingredients.
Coffee orders require specific desired milk to achieve your preference.

Great food, but not great service. The environment felt like no one wanted to be at work. Shout out to the blonde girl who was working around noon on 9/14 because she seemed to make an effort to greet customers and lighten the mood! It’s hard to be the positive one when your coworkers seem to be dragging.

As soon as you walk in, you can smell the freshly baked bread & pastries! We had the ‘Cranky Turkey’ & ‘Alaskan Fusion Panini’ and also bought some snickerdoodle cookies. First off, the sandwiches were beyond what I was expecting & so so flavorful. And secondly, I regret not ordering the French toast or any of the other pastries. Overall, this is such a great spot and I would say this is like the south side great harvest but with more flavor.
