My husband and I were very pleased and impressed with the service and attention we were given here during our week long stay in Haines. ||The mountain views from the house are breathtaking. We enjoyed breakfast and coffee out on the front porch a couple mornings amongst a serene and peaceful small town backdrop. The innkeeper Jason was awesome, a great cook and great conversationalist/artist. He took great care of us!||||We rented bikes and strolled around town which I highly recommend doing. The Lighthouse restaurant in town had the best Mac & cheese and the Fog Cutter bar had free pool Monday nights. The Haines Brewery was great too, you have to say hi to Paul the owner. The Eagle Float tour in town was worth every penny.||||We absolutely fell in love with Haines and will plan on staying here again, at House No. 1. I highly recommend it!

We stayed at House #1 for two nights during a recent 38 day vacation in Alaska. We were arriving by ferry, so Jason generously agreed to pick us up at the ferry station and let us check into our room several hours early. Although our room wasn’t one that looked out over the harbor, we had a beautiful view of the woods behind the house and our room was very comfortable and clean. The art work on the porch was interesting and eclectic. A delicious breakfast cooked by Jason, and enjoyed in the large family kitchen with the other guests was a special treat; as was the welcoming front porch! (We had ‘happy hour’ with another couple the first night ;-). There is no need for a car in Haines. We were able to walk to everything from House #1. We’d definitely stay here again and would highly recommend this property to anyone traveling to Haines!

We traveled in Alaska last month with another family, and rented 2 rooms. I travel loads for work, and this was by far the best B&B I've ever stayed at. Amazing location, updated design, and incredible hosts who let us use the kitchen to cook dinner and relax; accommodated our kids' needs, and transported us to and from the ferry. There's a huge kitchen table that accommodates a large group. Breakfast was fantastic and very community-oriented; it was fun to meet other travelers. ||||We all loved that the hotel was walking distance to everything in town. Thanks Jason!!!

My husband and I had a phenomenal stay here in late November after getting off the ferry. Our room was gorgeous and very comfortable, and it was really neat to see touches of the house's history. We were able to cook dinner in the kitchen, which was very nice. For breakfast the innkeeper cooked us an amazing meal including being beyond accommodating to my dietary needs. We were so happy to have stayed the night here and hope to come again soon!

My sister and I stayed at House No. 1 in Haines and we will definitely stay there again. Our host, Jason, prepared delicious breakfasts, gave us tips on where to eat/what to do and was very engaging. The B&B is a nice combo of original & restored architecture. The veranda was perfect for watching the world and the cruise ships go by.

We stayed at the House No. 1 B&B in Haynes, Alaska. The B&B is a historic home on a slight hill overlooking the breathtaking harbor. The area where the B&B is located is very picturesque and probably the best place to stay in Haynes. The owner purchased the home last year and has been renovating it. The home is quite beautiful with high ceilings, large windows and beautiful hardwood floors. We met both the owner and innkeeper. Both were welcoming and helpful with suggestions about where to eat and making sure that all of our needs were met.

I was traveling with my 20-year old son, and my 23 and 27-year-old daughters. We stayed in the two guest rooms on the first floor which have a shared bath. The bedrooms are quite large, one extremely large. The beds were very comfortable with crisp clean linens. The bathroom is recently renovated and spacious. Towels were plentiful.

For breakfast, which is included in the rate, we had a choice of a continental breakfast and/or hot breakfast, which on this date consisted of egg frittata, wonderful breakfast sausages and bacon, as well as toast, Danish, yogurt with fruit, juice and coffee. The table was set beautifully by the way. All of this was prepared by the innkeeper. We were very pleased with everything about the B&B and would definitely stay there again.

My wife & I had stayed at a motel for one night in Haines and had committed to a second when we chanced upon House No.1 and it's charming host Jason who was in the middle of doing laundry when we arrived. He graciously showed us around after which we asked if their was a room available for the following night. There was and we grabbed it. We were able to check in early the next morning and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I won't repeat all the previous positive posts relating to the rooms and Jason's breakfasts other than to say I concur with them all. Well done Jason and thank you so much.

Historic home B&B with a new owner and we were told some renovations were going to be happening. The have comfortable, clean beds and good views from the veranda and second floor. Bathrooms are small but clean and functional. Bedrooms are clean, comfortable, and have heaters to take the chill off before bed. Ample parking on the parade grounds in the historic Fort Seward part of Haines. Sarah was the host and, while very talkative and friendly, she was not an observant host. Examples of this would include spreading her personal papers out on a good portion of the small breakfast table during breakfast making it very very difficult for guests to sit down to eat, not offering breakfast to guests when they sit down, having dirty utensils and coffee carafe for guests breakfast, and serving guests obviously old cream for their weak coffee. Sarah is enthusiastic and could do a good job so hopefully she learns some more hosting skills before next high season.
