One-Star Review for Hotel Solaris

I had an extremely disappointing experience at Hotel Solaris and cannot recommend staying here. The service was undesirable, and the overall experience left much to be desired.

Upon checkout on February 22, 2025, at 12:30 PM, I received a call just 10 minutes later claiming that the towels in my room were “too dirty” to be washed. This was completely untrue, as they had not even attempted to clean them. Instead, they charged my credit card an additional fee without justification. I have since filed a formal dispute with Bank of America, as this charge was both unfair and completely unsubstantiated.

Beyond this issue, the hotel itself did not meet expectations. The service was inattentive, and staff seemed uninterested in providing a positive guest experience. Additionally, the pool was not properly maintained, making it unusable during my stay.

I had hoped for a relaxing and professional experience, but Hotel Solaris fell far short. I strongly advise future guests to beware of unexpected charges and question the cleanliness and upkeep of amenities before booking.

Room was fine. Spa was hot but jets didn't work. When I told front desk he said he they did work so we didn't push the subject. Alots of kids with surfboards partying but they quieted down by 10pm. Good location Breakfast was okay coffee in room..

I found myself unexpectedly needing to stay overnight in Santa Cruz on a trip and this hotel was in a convenient location. The price was competitive (off-season) although I had to negotiate away the parking fee which was not stated until I checked in. The staff was fine and the room was clean and as well appointed as one could reasonably expect for accommodations in this price range.

We loved our stay at Hotel Solaris in Santa Cruz. The rooms were beautiful and newly updated, and the service was good. The pool and hot tub were functional, adding to the great experience. The location was perfect, close to the beach and downtown, and the price was very reasonable. Highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy Santa Cruz!

Okay..so how do you house 2 schools of student musicians and their chaperones with odd check in hours? Come here..lol. The rooms aren't as nice as they have the potential to be--a little upgrade and more thorough cleaning BUT, their service, politeness and special accomodations for our high school and middle school students and staff was top tier! Check Out the elevator thoooo.🎵Love in an elevator🎵..living it up🎶 while I'm..nvm..lol..and there's a pool..see the best in everything, life's too short!

Positive: It has a nice hot tub. They let us stay in the hot tub for an hour after checkout. Negative: The hotel is a little run-down. The carpets need to be replaced. I arrived at the front desk at 6:55 to get a cup of coffee, but the staff made me wait exactly 5 minutes until 7:00 to get a coffee. Really? C'mon man! What would Joe Biden say?

I don't understand the negative reviews concerning this hotel. Hotel Solares is clean, beautiful and is a 5-7 minute walk to the Boardwalk and downtown.
Shahadat, Jorge, Shihab and Adnan, the staff at this hotel, bent over backwards for us and genuinely made us feel welcome. This is a very family friendly hotel and they treated my daughter with the utmost respect. I will definitely be staying here again in the future and suggest that you give them a chance.
