This hotel gives first class service. It is wonderful that it has preserved and modernized this heritage hotel, located in the heart of downtown Berkeley and in walking distance to the campus. The staff were extraordinarily friendly and helpful. I was relieved to find that breakfast is ordered from a menu, and not one of those generic hotel buffet breakfasts. And the restaurant is quiet, which appeals to older guests such as myself. I have nothing negative to report about my happy experience at this hotel. Jim

Reliable option in the center of Berkeley. I stayed at this hotel 4 nights, in 2 separate occasions. On the first one, the room was a bit warmer than I would have liked. Other than that it was comfortable, with good beds and decent pillows.

The second time, the room was a bit bigger and the temperature was better. However, my parents were not very comfortable as the layout of their bed made it difficult for my dad to walk by his side of the bed.

We hosted a two day company event for about 30 people at the Hotel Shattuck Plaza and it was a fantastic experience. The staff is phenomenal- they went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable and seamless as possible even with several last minute event requests and changes. Jacqui, Eugene and the women on the banquet staff who served us in the Campanile Room on 1/21 were fantastic. The hotel rooms were clean, the hotel food was fantastic. |Thank you all!! Hopefully we see you again next year.

Friendly, fast, and extremely helpful front desk. We arrived late and the clerk was wonderful. He saved us from spending unnecessarily on parking. We were upgraded, which I was not expecting. The room rate seemed a bit high to me for a random March night. That is my only complaint.

Christopher the night concierge was amazing and went above and beyond for us. We had to arrive at 3am and he was so accommodating and exceptional. The room service was prompt and delicious, still nice and warm. We participated in the Thanksgiving buffet which was very good with a wide range of options. The entire staff was welcoming to our furry kids and very helpful with any question we had. The decor was beautiful and I love the kids check in station for those traveling with kids. We stayed in a suite and it was nice and spacious with a lot of natural light at the end of a very quiet hallway. I also really appreciated the shower slip-proof mat that was optional in our restroom- I am prone to falls and the shower can be a bit daunting for me when I travel.

My wife and I were here for a 4-day stay. The Shattuck is a classic older hotel with modern finishes. I would liken it to a full-service Marriott. Our room overlooked Shattuck Avenue. The street side rooms can be a little loud. The walls are a bit thin. The staff have all been extremely friendly and accommodating. It’s right across the street from the BART station.

This is the best hotel I have ever stayed at. The staff is always on it and friendly. Any issues I had were solved promptly. They had great communication with my family and I. The beds were comfy and the rooms were nice, spacious and clean. Each room has a keurig and nespresso. I highly recommend!

My stay was brief but I really enjoyed the size of the room. Bed was comfy (pillows were fluffy, which might turn people off). But I really enjoyed the service. Kyle was a great server in the restaurant, and Lily was extremely accommodating with our added requests for coffee, sweeteners, and a small pony. (She brought me the last one, so don't try requesting one. You snooze, you lose, people!) And both had a great sense of humor. Jacqui at the front desk was also wonderful. I wish I had more time to stay, but I do hope to return one day.
