AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!! WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! RIP-OFF!

WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! I paid $279 through Viator for 1 night. Room was old and dingy. Worst surprise is that it had NO BATHROOM. There was a communal bathroom down the hallway. Had to catch early cruise and could not be worried about others occupying the communal bathroom. The front desk "upgraded" my room to one with bathroom. Charged me OUTRAGEOUS $151. That is total $430. While at front desk, I saw on their website same room with bathroom for $323 for SAME night. When I complained, they said there was no manager there and gave me his email. I emailed manager several times, and of course he never replied. THIS PLACE IS A TOTAL RIPOFF. Others have said the same.

Nice hotel, good location for downtown Seward but a little far for the port. Rooms are a little weird, some are nice and large, some are small and narrow. They are clean and modern. A word of caution, there is an older section which is bare bones, and your room number may not be on the directory sign by the elevator.

Plz make sure you do the payments right away at the hotel. We were group of 8& booked rooms for a night& extended one more day. When we returned we found an extra $700 charged to my credit card. After making a dispute with my bank it took 3 to 4 months to resolve it& to get my money back. So plz be aware 🙏

This was great. In 2009 while visiting Seward, we briefly stopped in at Hotel Seward to see the decor. This time, we wanted to stay and that we did for two nights. We were very welcomed by reception staff Shamarie and later, Peachy. We had a fantastic room #331 with windows overlooking the distant mountains. I think there were three front windows--all opened and were screened. The room was spacious with frig and microwave. And ample sitting areas. We were very pleased. Suggestion--take some time to look about this historic hotel with old photos, news articles and stuffed animals here and there. And check out the fossils surrounding the fireplace.

This little hotel was in a great location right in the heart of shops, restaurants, and coffee shops, as well as the water and the Sea Life Center. Few amenities beyond the basics, but seemed typical of what you'd find for Alaska. There was always someone at the front desk, there was a bit of space in the lobby to sit, and the rooms we stayed in were very clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay there again!

I would give this place a 1 except for the bartender in the little bar and the shuttle driver, both superstars, in particular the shuttle driver.||Let me assure you, my expectations were low from reading previous reviews and having to book a room with private bath (It was actually so small I used the shared one :)).||Started off decent, arrived around noon and didn’t really expect a room to be ready. Went to grab a bite and walk around town, was expecting a call, but never received one so headed back closer to advertised checkin time, New woman at des said they do not allow early check-in (it was 30 minutes prior to time) and shortly a “manager” came from somewhere. he told the woman to just give people rooms in the order they arrived, and some just will not get the room type they reserved, what is that? My wife and I just stared at each other.||We eventually got into our overly “cute” or “quaint” room as some put it, I call it very small, but I knew that going in. The TV was new and large, which was nice (had to throw a bone in there).||We went to a nice dinner and just kind of laughed everything off when we got back to our room, then the next day happened.||Left for a bit to get breakfast and look in some shops before heading back to catch our pre-arranged hotel shuttle to the cruise port, which we had booked for 10:00. I received a call from the front desk and the guy said he was sorry, but the shuttle couldn’t take us until hopefully 10:45. He told me they had a group that ended up being larger than planned and it would take several trips to get them there. Instead of offering to call a taxi company, he told me I would be better off calling for one, nice customer service! We went back to the hotel to try to figure out what to do. The guy had no answer to why I would get moved when I prearranged the shuttle and what made them more important than me. Understand I am a loyalty and status guy, so I understand programs, this place doesn’t nor should it have a loyalty program. I then asked him to see if the shuttle driver could take us in 10 minutes, he told me the shuttle driver was unavailable at the time.||So, being pretty proud of how I kept my cool during this whole experience with this hotel, I went back to the room to get our bags and figured I would try to get a taxi. One minute later my wife came back to the room and said she ran into the shuttle driver and he would be happy to take us now. Then when walking out with our bags, I was greeted by the cleaning crew asking if I was leaving the room. After the experience the day before of no rooms available and blah blah blah, everything just reeked of laziness and arrogance from the management down to the front desk staff, “we have the control”, not the guests.||So again, only as a last resort, and don’t get your hopes up.

The portion of the building we stayed in was older, so the rooms were smaller than a normal modern hotel. They were furnished in a way that reflected the past era. Which was nice actually, the hotel was full of stuffed animals and woodwork. In the area we were in, there were shared bathrooms. Which wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. But it wasn’t ideal. It is located in downtown and there are some interesting building architecture and murals nearby. As well as the Alaska Sea Life Center, Lowell Waterfall, Hoben park is nearby and it has some Iditarod statues and information, all within minutes walk. Also a nice walk along the waterfront. The harbor is maybe a 20 minute walk from the hotel where there are boat tours and fishing.

Hotel Seward’ was once a wonderful and beautiful place to get away with loved ones and enjoy the ambiance of Old Seward. We booked an Executive King bedroom advertised with premium bedding, down comforters and pill top bed for the night at over $400.00 plus tax and you would think at that price you would get the best which would include at least a bottle or two of water. |Total false advertising |NO MORE…..the website shows pictures of the rooms that are so misleading and as of today have not been updated. They have taken the beauty of the old and replaced it with low end Motel style room accommodations. We are talking about the cheapest towels and toiletries, the cheapest sheets and bed covers with a room that is just dark and gloomy but advertising it as an Executive King bedroom with premium amenities to include bedding, down comforters and pill top bed. Total false advertising. I’m not even mentioning the service or employees at the front desk which is another story. |Very disappointed considering what we paid for a one-night stay. I will definitely not recommend or stay at Hotel Seward’ in the future and would recommend that others do not as well. You will be very disappointed!
