This is a great place to stay while in Galena. I've been to Galena several time and usually have stayed at hotels. This is much better than a regular hotel and the price was great. I wanted to stay in town this time, and the Desoto Hotel with the "lady in black" hauntings gives me the creeps, so that was out. Nate was a perfect host, and can be reached at any time. We also saw him on the property. It's a beautiful old building that has been renovated nicely||We had our own room and the bathroom/tub/shower was across the hall from our room but it was private. It was also nice that the hall light would automatically turn on when you entered the hall. ||The hotel has it's own parking and this was the reason I booked here. It was so nice to leave your car and walk the town instead of having to drive and find parking in Galena.||There is a separate kitchen for the rooms to use and a large refrigerator where you can keep you r things. ||My only suggestion would be to have more coffee available instead of the small packets that yield 2 cups. This is a minor quibble, when I book next time, I will bring my own.

Very clean and updated suites in a historic hotel. Less than 2 blocks from main street attractions. Very safe and well lit at night. On site parking. Gluten-free breakfast buffet options.
Dog friendly in certain suites.
Nate and Denise are very friendly and informative on activities to do in and around Galena area.

We stayed in one of the Riverboat Suites (#7), late March 2025. The room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. Everything was as advertised. A beautiful historic building and decor. Quaint outdoor seating to relax. Literally walking distance into town. The best amenity was the service. Proprietor, Nate, was very attentive to all guests comfort. Great visit, would definitely return.

Love love love! This is the most comfortable, clean, and lovely place we’ve stayed in a long time. We stayed in room #1 (the most basic room of the bunch) and it was fabulous! Coming from Chicago we were looking for rest and relaxation and were met with just that. Conveniently located, great continental breakfast, and a personal welcome from Nate. Already looking at dates to come back and get a suite with a jacuzzi!

The room and hotel were charming and full of history with all updated amenities including free wi-fi and extra large tv’s with great streaming options. The service was superb including the complementary breakfast buffet. We stayed on the 2nd floor in the Riverboat Suites building. Stair options included an outdoor two-story staircase and a single indoor staircase at the front entrance off of Rte. 20. Very convenient parking options. Close walking distance to downtown Galena, or a quick easy drive to park on Main Street to visit all the shops.

An excellent place to stay in historic Galena. Just a couple of blocks, an easy walk, from a beautiful downtown with excellent shopping and dining options. The accomodations were very nice ... clean, easy to access, well appointed. The hosts are personable and work very hard to make your stay as special as possible. When we return to Galena, and we will, we will start by checking to see if there are rooms available at either Riverboat Suites or the Galena Hotel.

Friendly staff, clean rooms, nice breakfast and easy check in and check out. Host was able to give recommendations for area things to see and do. Hotel is a five minute walk from downtown Galena shopping and eating. Will definitely stay here again!

We had a great stay for New Years! It has the classic historic charm that Galena is known for, while also offering amenities that make is feel more modern. We stayed in Room 1, which was very comfortable and cozy. While it's one of their smaller rooms, it felt plenty big. The private bathroom is across the hall, but it's perfectly convenient. Some of the rooms, including Room 1, also accept dogs for a small additional fee per night. Breakfast is included! The hosts are very helpful, and you get fresh towels everyday. It's clean and well-maintained. I would stay again, and I definitely recommend!
