Honest review:

The staff and breakfast (waffle bar, in particular) are great. The front desk was responsive and friendly.

Plain and simple: it felt like our room was the room where the grab parts/pieces from to fix other rooms. Many things were broken or dirty. The condition of our room was not what we were expecting and it left a lasting impression on our trip. We’ll forever remember the fun times we had during the day exploring the area and “the hotel we stayed at.”

Our main issue was with our bath tub, it didn’t drain properly. We had showers with ankle deep water and it left us feeling unclean after a shower. We did request to have it fixed, and they did come to address it twice. The first time to replace the drain and the second time to use Liquid Plumber - we thought it was fixed, but the issue still persisted. We just gave up on it after a few days.

Another issue was with our toilet, it wouldn’t flush half the time so we had to lift the top up to realign the flange to help the water fill back up. Kind of annoying, but we dealt with it.

Next issue, I had just discovered, was this burnt out chair that they had placed a cover on (pictured). The ONLY reason I pulled the cover off was because my hand got stabbed by a really sharp piece of metal that turned out to be a staple that was partially ripped out and sticking out through the chair cover. I removed the cover to shove the staple back in and saw this giant burnt out portion of the chair! My toddler had been sitting on this chair during our stay and I’m glad it was me who got jabbed by the staple and not him.

Lastly, I wasn’t a fan of the exposed electrical underneath the dishwasher. It’s a hazard!(pictured, as well). This was discovered because my kids were playing with some toys and it just happened to roll right in front of it, thankfully, not under and inside where the exposed electrical is.

The hotel is under renovation and I hope other rooms don’t have these problems. The hotel is definitely dated but one of the few that can accommodate a family of 5 for the dates we had set for vacation. It may have just been our bad luck to have picked this room and even though the staff here are great, sadly, I don’t think I can choose this place again due to the conditions of the room we had.

Stayed here for a business trip and aside from being conveniently located to places that I needed to go this was ok at best. They’re undergoing construction which is completely understandable, but fire alarms going off at 6am in the middle of a HUGE fire up north is not how I was expecting to wake up. The room (1 king bed) itself is pretty spacious for 1 person, but you can tell it hasn’t been updated yet and is wiped down with a single Lysol wipe between guests. The shower head and faucet were gushing water anytime I took a shower, and the AC was on Alaska all night.

The stay here overall wasn’t absolutely terrible, but definitely could have been better. Probably will not return.

The front desk person was very friendly and professional. Then it quickly went downhill from there. Luckily we only stayed for one night since it was very close to Legoland. The hotel is going through some renovation so maybe they are replacing the filthy and worn out carpet. The room didn’t have any bath soap or hair conditioner dispenser but we managed since I usually travel with a spare bar of soap. The living room sofa should have been replaced 5 years ago. The padding in the seat cushion is nonexistent and there was a noticeable hole in the back cushion that was covered by a pillow. There are probably “free” sofas on Craigslist that are in better condition. Overall it was probably one of my least memorable Hilton experience.

My family and I decided to spend Christmas in California to enjoy some sun, and staying at the Homewood Suites was the perfect choice!

The setup was ideal for our small family. We had a two-bedroom suite—one room for the kids and one for us—which gave us plenty of space. The suite included a small kitchenette and a cozy living room, making it feel like a home away from home.

The hotel is currently under construction, but it didn’t impact our stay greatly. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, which made our experience even better.

My kids especially loved the swimming pool, and the hotel’s location near Legoland was super convenient for family outings.

Overall, we had a fantastic experience, and I’d highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a comfortable, family-friendly place to stay in the area!

Very delicious breakfast buffet. We stayed 3 nights. Safe area with lots of shopping nearby. Well lit parking lot. Clean and up to date accommodations, Friendly staff, nice pool area. Didn’t realize we were re so close to the airport until we were outside the building. Visited marina & seals there as well as beach. Drove 30 min to San Diego to La Jolla cove to see more seals! Enjoyed local Carlsbad restaurants including Campfire. Would stay here again.

Not a good experience. The room looks tidy but actually is dirty. Kitchen not that clean with stains. There are ants and bugs in the room. We cannot even take shower as there are tons of bugs in the bathtub and drains. It is a good family style hotel as the rooms are one bedroom suites. But if you care about the cleanliness, please do not stay here.

Stayed for 2 nights. NEVER again. Front desk (2 guys) one a supervisor was rude.
Room was musti. Can still smell mustiness on my jacket. It was on everything even shoes. My $100 deposit, 17 days later still not returned and I was overcharged. What a disappointing experience.

Our stay at Homewood Suites, Carlsbad, had its highs and lows. The breakfast was the highlight of our experience, offering a delicious variety of hot options that exceeded expectations.

Unfortunately, several areas fell short. The sofa bed was extremely uncomfortable, affecting our rest, and our request for a room change was not acknowledged. Room service was also unreliable, with two separate requests left unfulfilled.

The in-room telephone was broken, with keys detached, and despite reporting it on the first day, the issue was never resolved. This meant frequent trips to the front desk for basic necessities like towels and toiletries. Additionally, the layout of the hotel and room numbering was confusing, making navigation unnecessarily difficult.

To make matters worse, the Wi-Fi was inaccessible throughout our stay. We repeatedly received an "user not recognized" error, and despite reporting the issue, no resolution was provided.

While the breakfast was exceptional, these unresolved issues significantly impacted our overall experience.
