I travel a lot for work and I generally stay at the Holiday Inn chain of hotels.
I was extremely disappointed in the staff at this particular Holiday Inn. I was checked in the night before, so my room was guaranteed which was a king suite. Well my room was used, and dirty. I expected id be put into a room I reserved and paid for. That wasn't the case. I was downgraded and put at the end of the hall next to the stairwell and the room accommodated wheel chair friendly guests, or someone that needed a little extra room. I requested to not be put into this type of room. I think they should save these rooms for guests that need these types of rooms. I politely told the housekeeper that I requested not to be put into this room id wait for my original room to be cleaned. Not only did I have to wait for a while but they put me into another handicapped room right across from the one I had just told her I didn't want to be in! This room was very yucky the view was awful, it stunk, the light flickered in the bathroom. The stairwell exit was literally right next to my room. I lost count on how many times the door slammed in just 10 minutes.
Horrific experience! I feel very bad for the guests that have to stay in this room. They'd get no sleep or relaxation.
I was very disappointed. I left and went to a great Holiday inn in Starkville, AL.

I stayed here last night. Room was clean. Bed was really comfortable. Lakesha at the front desk was really friendly. I'm a IHG member and pleasantly surprised by this trip. I also like the design of the interior. Definitely will stay here again when in the area.

I travel with my company. I basically live out of hotels every week (5 nights stay) I work out of my car and usually exhausted by the time I get back to the hotel. I made the terrible mistake in getting this hotel again by accident.

It’s a beautiful looking hotel and will make you think you have a great place to stay. To be honest, there’s some positive points to report. The rooms I’ve seen and stayed are clean, the beds I’ve slept in are really comfortable. Plenty of space to work (if you need it) and the fridge isn’t tiny (I prefer bigger but not all hotels are extended stay). Lighting for the room is great, I really like the desk light ++, TV is a great size and I can use my FireTV.

Now for the BIG negative!
No room I have seen or have stayed in has a properly working AC unit. Every thermostat was set between 62°-64° when I checked. I turn the thermostat up when I arrive to 70° because I know they turn the temperature way down due to HUMIDITY. It is artificially disguised when the temperature is really low. It’s still there but it’s too cold to truly feel. Once the temperature starts to come up, so does the humidity. Right now the temp in my room is 69° and the HUMIDITY is 76%. My neighbor described it best, he said, “It feels like you’re sleeping in a pond.” I failed to mention the reason I picked this room is because it was the only one that didn’t smell like mildew and my feet didn’t slip around on the tile at the door from the moisture in the room. I did report this the other time I stayed and nothing was done and I never heard from anyone about the problem. The young lady who checked me in this time put a note in for me about the AC issue and I asked to be contacted. I haven’t heard from anyone.

I won’t make the same mistake staying here again. I can’t sleep well in these humid rooms! I think it’s tolerable if you’re passing through but not if you're needing a comfortable place to sleep especially if staying multiple nights. ?

I recently had the horrible time of staying at Holiday Inn Express & Suites Columbus and I must say, it was a thoroughly disappointing experience.

Please read this review if you are considering booking room from here.

Upon arrival, I was greeted with a room that was chillingly cold, with the AC set to a frigid 45°F. Temperature in room were 57°F when I arrived. This was not the warm welcome I was expecting. The room itself had a distinct, unpleasant odor, which only worsened when I attempted to heat the room.

The cleanliness, or lack thereof, was another major issue. The bed cover was marred by unsightly brown stains, the floor was similarly stained, and dust had clearly been allowed to accumulate in the corners. I was compelled to keep my suitcase closed to prevent the odd odor from permeating my clothes.

Room services didn't work as it should. Quite often my towels were not replaced if I left them to the floor. I was out also out of tissue paper multiple days. Toilet was not cleaned at all during my 4 day stay.

The hotel’s gym, where I had hoped to pass the time while my room warmed up, was poorly equipped and maintained. Several machines, including the rowing machine, were out of order. The selection of dumbbells was limited and there were no wipes or towels available for sanitizing the equipment.

The hotel’s Wi-Fi was unreliable, dropping out multiple times during calls, forcing me to resort to using my cellular coverage.

The breakfast was a letdown as well. The selection was limited, with food served from disposable containers. Warm food scoops were placed just on a dirty table, which was unhygienic. The coffee was subpar, and the food selection consisted mainly eggs, bacon, some old-looking fruits, and instant porridge. The bread available was just plain toast. It was one of the worst hotel breakfasts I’ve ever had. And it was very common that some dishes ran out during the breakfast and it was not filled during the time that I spent there.

The final straw was the attitude of the hotel manager. At checkout, she refused to provide a receipt for my stay, insisting that my travel agency had used a third-party booking tool. She also refused to provide any contact details for lodging a complaint or seeking additional help. This is unacceptable, especially when a significant amount of money has been paid via credit card.

In light of these issues, I can only give this hotel a 1-star review. I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone, as the quality is simply unacceptable. I hope that no one else has to go through a similar experience.

Positive: The bed sheet and bed were very comfortable. The receptionist when we signed in was exceptional Negative: Other staff we encountered could use some customer service training. The room had broken tiles in the bathroom. It looked like the ceiling had leaked at one time. There was mold on the grout in the shower. The room smelled of cleaning priduct

Worst hotel I ever had to stay at.
Unfriendly staff, sitting in there phones not even looking at you.
Unclean rooms and stained bed linens.
Worst of all is the mold and everything smells like mildew. Makes you sick.
Laundry machine only works with credit cards. If it doesn’t accept your card you are out of luck.
How is this hotel part of IHG?

Front desk personnel was very nice. Easy checkin. Rooms are not clean. Carpet sticky, room in disrepair. Room smelled like mold, ceiling repaired badly, just overall dirty room. Switched rooms after checking in to find dirty linens and bathroom not cleaned. Disappointing for a HIE. This hotel is far from IHG standards.

BUYER BEWARE !!!! This is the worst place to stay In Columbus, Mississippi! Our work trip has stayed here three different times for a minimum of 5 days at a time with at least five rooms each time. Every time we have stayed here at least one of the rooms have had stained sheets where they did not change the sheets from the last guest. The stain on the sheets matched the stain on the mattress several times. The house keeping does not visit the rooms on a daily basis. The hotel is very short on towels. We always have to go to the front desk to get new towels and be told they are in the washer and you will have to wait or they go to another room and take them out of there. I have address this with the manager multiple times and nothing seems to get done about it. I know there is only so much she can do, but we are going to find a new hotel. Second guess this hotel before you stay here.
