The condition of this hotel is poor...not clean...and in need of a complete redo. Our bathroom tub was filthy, the floor equally so. One look at the carpet in the hotel and the grime in the elevator should have warned us. We discovered the full, length curtains cover the heat/ac unit (usually designed to be shorter in that position) and when we mentioned it to the desk clerk she assured us they were designed so we could fold them on top of the unit! Really? There was a small refrigerator on the floor because it didn't fit in the original space designed for it. The ice maker was out of order. The sofa was dirty. Breakfast offered premade omelets that had been burned, orange juice was empty, coffee was empty and a small wastebasket was overflowing and stayed that way even after a breakfast room employee put her own trash in it. Several members of what were probably housekeeping employees were making themselves breakfast and neither they nor the person in charge of the breakfast room seemed to mind that several tables needed cleaning. I cleaned ours myself. For $220. a night I expected much better.

As a Gold Elite member, I expected a lot more from my stay. The hotel was outdated, and my room's carpet didn't look clean as it appeared stained. Additionally, the bathroom smelled like mold and sewage. At breakfast, the food looked undercooked, with the potatoes tasting raw. The turkey patties were dry, and the coffee wasn't fresh. Also, there were no coffee lids available. I had booked the hotel for 7 days but checked out the next day due to the unsanitary conditions. I would also like to mention that the area where you can purchase food had nothing I could buy to take to my room.

The stay started well! Jose at the front desk checked us in and was very cordial and professional. We were offered any floor that we wanted and chose the first floor. We ended up by the exit/entrance door which was a mistake if you actually wanted to sleep. At 0500 the door was opened and closed (slammed) multiple times. Maybe we should have been notified and we would have chosen another floor. And for security purposes I don’t think the door was ever changed to the entry with card feature(all night). The hotel is old and needs renovating. The mattresses are flat, light bulbs flicker, and carpet is dirty. Breakfast was good, but the place needs a deep cleaning. The Holiday Inn located in Berkeley is how the Holiday Inn located in Barstow should be modeled.

Everything was great except for breakfast. No bacon, no oj. I’m assuming it must be hard to keep up when the homeless community is eating the food. Hot breakfast has always been a big part of our repeat business with IHG. Front desk staff at check in was very friendly and the room and beds were good.

Stayed 2 nights January 2025 - Rooms were adequate. Beds were comfortable. Water pressure was adequate. Breakfast had hot options. Not very convenient for walking to restaurants. Entry options were limited to front door. Could not use key to enter other doors.

DO NOT stay here. I am an evacuee from wildfires. I have breathing issues and had sick family members with me. Almost every single night AND day we were here people were smoking inside the hotel and management did nothing about it. The last night we were there, the heater did not blow warm air. It was 36 degrees that night. I tried to turn it off and just huddle my family under all the blankets for warmth. It kept turning on very loudly and waking me up and blowing cold air for a few minutes the shutting off even after I moved the switch to the “off” position. I was feeling extremely ill by morning and was so grateful it finally stopped that I fell asleep. I booked rooms in another town. When I left, I told the front desk why I was leaving: 1. the incessant indoor smoking when it is illegal and I am fleeing smoke only to find myself in a hotel filled with smoke putting the health of myself and my family at risk. 2. The broken heater and my resultant illness. She had the AUDACITY to argue with me that I had failed to turn the heater off correctly. She said “oh if the fan is on auto it turns itself on. You have to turn it off” I said “I did turn it off” she says “you have to turn the fan off” I said, “there is not a separate ‘off’ setting for the fan. The fan has “low, high, and auto” only. The other switch has “off, cool, and heat.” Turning the fan to low or high makes it blow air constantly.” She said “no if you push it all the way it has an “off.” Are you looking at the thermostat or the wall unit?” I said “the thermostat. I know how thermostats work. Your heater is broken and intermittently blows cold air throughput the night. I am sick and leaving before I get sicker.” She then told me she was still going to charge me because it was past check out time. Way to be kind in a time of crisis. These businesses are making so much money off of us right now. You would think they could at the VERY least provide the bare minimum of health, safety and basic courtesy.

Hotel needs updated. Carpet in room is dirty/old. TV is old and doesn't turn when watching TV from the couch. Couch is stained. Ac unit is old. Fan never turns off unless you turn the system off so it got farly cold. But got too hot if it was turned off. I would have thought better for the price.

We have stayed at this location several times. It is usually an excellent facility and great staff. Unfortunately the hot water boiler failed that evening. The poor desk clerk was fending off angry customers. The maintenance guy wasn't going to come in until the next day. The manager had turned off his phone so there was nobody to attend to the problem.

The system was still being repaired when we left. I am surprised that they prepared breakfast without the benefit of hot water.

We were promised some compensation on our next visit but that didn't happen.
