The views are spectacular and priceless. I tried to overlook everything else hence why I stayed there at least two or three times. When I checked in with Alvina there was dog feces all throughout her living room from her German Shepherd. There wasn't even snow on the ground to have that as an excuse. The upstairs unit facing the lake needed much repair. Heater works for a limited time, and is on the ground with carpet. The old school kind. The freezer never worked in the mini fridge and parts of the deck outside if you walk on you can actually feel start to give away. I stayed there because it was easy to bring my dog who's only 24 lb. Her dog is about 150 lb and is not leashed ever. I asked her if I could pay less than $200 a night since the room needed a lot she immediately was defensive and ready to fight and argue. Yelling she was old and didn't have to deal with this bs. I would never stay there again unless someone else owned it and Managed the property. Sad that she runs away a lot of people, and that's why the property is usually empty even in Prime season.

I stayed at H.H in early fall of 2013. Never left a review but for whatever reason I got to thinking about it today and decided I would. This is a long review so buckle up. We aren't tourists, we lived in K.B in a little apartment that flooded do to a busts feed line under our sink. Because of this we were forced to leave. Here's where things get dicey; my girlfriend was 6 months pregnant, we had a dog and a cat. We couldn't find anywhere to move into that we could afford but thanks to our landlord, he was able to get his insurance to put us up at holiday house which obviously saved us. We were there for about a month so we got to know Alvina fairly well. She is a tough old lady who is friendly but also will not take any crap. She can be a little kooky and bark at tou about stuff but from speaking with her as had people who trashed the place when their dogs were left unattended so she is quite sensitive to that. She is also in pretty old and I think she would probably rather not have to deal with guests, but needs to pay the bills. The place is old and warn down but you've got an old woman running the show. She's not gonna go around with a skillsaw and nail gun and fix everything. She has a couple people who help her out here and there but are you in Tahoe to hang out in a hotel room or to get out and enjoy the place. If it's the former, leave your pets at home and go to the Hyatt in Incline. Anyway, I'm eternally grateful to Alvina becuase my ex and I were in in deep water and she bailed us out by taking in our little family and proving us a place to live until we could find another apartment.

Stayed here twice about 2 or 3 years apart, both during the winter with my husband and 2 small dogs. Firstly I was searching for a dog friendly place. Secondly I was blown away by the views. At the time Holiday House was advertised as a chalet. I’m not sure what that means exactly however we went for a quiet get a way and it was exactly like renting a small 1 bedroom apartment with a tiny functional kitchen & the most breathtaking views. This was perfect for us, we brought our own food & beverages. Guests can also use the BBQ out on the terrace. This is not a place for room service or easy access to the lake even though its technically waterfront. I cant stress enough its all about the views & a pet friendly stay. It’s definitely rustic and could use some new carpet, paint, & furniture but all in all it was a good experience for our get a away. If your looking for easy beach and water access King’s Beach is just up the road, and there’s boat rentals just next door if I remember correctly. 3 stars until the owners invest in some updating but 5 stars for the view.

For May 3d we booked 2 nights at this pet friendly inn. We had the upstairs 1 bdrm suite next to the stairway. Didn't know what to expect, but we were pleasantly surprised. This place was built in the 60's for the winter olympics. Wall to ceiling tongue and groove wood paneling, nice craftsmanship. Right out the living room window is a splendid view of the lake. Alvina and Heidi where very helpful.

I spoke to the owner a week before arrival and was told they no longer have paddle boards. Upon arrival I was told that I did not have a reservation even though I have a confirmation email. I went to my car to check my emails and when I came back the owner was no where. The property is run down, dirty and creepy. I arrived around 5:30 PM and it looked as if there were no other guests. I had to find other lodging Friday night for my mom and I. Stay away from this place.

If you are looking to stay somewhere with old school character and charm, look no further than Holiday House. ||Upon arrival, we were greeted by the owner Alvina, and her outgoing dog, Heidi. Alvina immediately made us feel like family. Since we love dogs, petting and snuggling with Heidi made us feel welcome.||The rooms haven't changed much since the beginning. Personally, I loved the little old fridge (which worked wonderfully), and the old, yet well-maintained furniture reminded me of when I grew up.||Let's get to the most important part of this place - THE VIEW. It could not get any better! We stayed on the second floor and the beauty of the lake is pretty much all that you can see. There is a communal lower deck with chairs and a BBQ, and then an even lower deck where Alvin rents out paddle boards and other water sporting equipment. It was off season in April, so she didn't have them out just yet.||I felt so at home here. And, with a view like that, I have no desire to stay anywhere else. We will be back!

the owner is amazing. Got stuck in a storm and she was so friendly and helpful. Helped check weather for us and allowed us to hang out last check out to see if the roads would open. The rooms were older but homey. The view is spectacular out over the lake. She definitely made a very stressful situation much more tolerable.

Manager is also the owner and she can lose it on you. She has also been known to cancel people’s reservation and keep their money. We stayed here 3 times. Last time ever. Great location and the view is beautiful, but we had to get a second hotel room for our family vacation the night before, because she decided to cancel our reservation without telling us. She was angry and demanded payment in full prior to our stay which is odd because most hotels have you pay when you check out. Very bad experience. I don’t recommend.
