Hampton Inn Fond du Lac - Fond du Lac, Wisconsin

I booked a room here for a couple of nights, expecting a Hilton related experience. Unfortunately, this hotel does not live up to the Hilton brand. In fact, it reminded me more of a Super 8 in the early 2000s.

**Pros:**
- The room was surprisingly quiet, even with the window facing the interstate.
- The beds were comfortable and provided a good night's sleep.
- The breakfast hours from 6 AM to 10 AM were convenient, and the 12 PM check-out time was a nice touch.

**Challenges:**
- The bathroom had no fan, so after two people showered, it felt like a public swimming pool changing room. Condensation built up on the window, causing water to puddle on the AC unit the next morning. The dampness lingered throughout the stay.
- Room service is only provided every other day, which I found a bit inconvenient.
- The coffee maker in the room had visible residues in the water tank, so we chose not to use it.
- Toward the end of breakfast, we lingered over coffee, and a housekeeping staff member demanded we lift our feet so they could vacuum under our table. This was done in an abrupt and rude manner. Given that this hotel is supposedly affiliated with Hilton, I expected better hospitality.
- The next morning at breakfast there was no dark roast coffee available. The waffle mix dispenser was empty on both days.
- After checking out, I realized I had left a personal item in the room. When I called to inquire, I was told housekeeping would check in the morning and get back to me. I was given no updates and never received a callback. This lack of follow-up was frustrating.

Overall, I expected a better quality stay.

Close to lake, restaurants. Renovated, great breakfast options, pool with a basketball court, rooms have everything we needed. My only complaint was we had no shampoo but luckily we brought our own travel sizes just in case. Staff was nice, great place for our overnight stay.

Room had a "fishy" smell, yes like real fish.
Looked clean, but couldn't figure it out. Yuck.... Checked in around 6PM, to a far less than friendly welcome, and by the way what happened to some kind of work atire? This is a Hampton, not a 5 minute oil change. Have stayed here several times in the past, but not again. Just not impressed.
VERY happy with Hampton in general at other locations.

I travel to a lot of Hilton properties for work and I have to say that this hotel was one of, if not the best Hampton Inns or similar type of hotel I have been to any time recently. We checked in on 9/14 in the afternoon around 4 and the person at the check in desk was very helpful and quickly got us checked in. Our room was nice, the AC worked very well.

We'd just stayed two nights at the Hilton Chicago, which was nice, but I was so relieved to get to this hotel and have real (not flat and feathery)pillows and enough towels in our room. The ONLY aspect I didn't like and wish that newer or renovated hotels would stop doing is the sliding bathroom door. I haven't met a single person who likes this arrangement if traveling with another person.

The pool was nice, albeit slightly cold, but they had a basketball hoop and basket balls to play with. The room had been recently renovated and it was really nice. If we return to FDL in the future, I'll definitely choose the Hampton Inn.

Stayed at Hampton during the EAA AirVenture. All the hotels in Oshkosh and surrounding areas were booked and/or charging exorbitant rates. Hampton's rate was more reasonable and only 10 mins from event. Hotel felt new. Room and common areas were clean, staff were friendly and helpful, free breakfast was good, pool was nice. Would definitely stay again.

OK, this story is really not believable but here goes. In fact, it is so bizarre I contemplated for months on whether I should submit it.||Arrived for 5 night stay on business. (per diem work in the city). Corporate booking. ||Despite being a normally-abled Diamond member, I was put in the wheelchair accessible room. The one where the toilet is backwards and slung low to the floor and there isn't really a shower, just a bench with a hand-held for a sponge bath. All perfectly equipped for full-blown wheelchair access.||And the very young woman at the front desk thought this was a reasonable choice for a normally abled person for 5 days.. She went into the back room and refused to come out to the front when I immediately returned to ask to exchange rooms. I even called the hotel phone number and she had switched it to ring over to Hilton corporate so she wouldn't have to answer the phone.||I have absolutely no idea what was going on here.||I had to leave a note on the countertop cancelling the reservation since I wasn't going to stay in that room and clearly no one was going to give me a different one. ||I left and stayed at the Holiday Inn on my own dime. ||They ended up charging corporate for the whole stay. ||This was booked months in advance and there were no cars in the parking lot so "overbooked" and "last minute reservation" do not apply here. ||Who does this?

Very clean and comfortable rooms. Prefer this hotel to others in town. Close to shopping and restaurants.
