I was expecting a better experience. The hotel was dirty. Elevators did not work. Changed rooms twice because the first room smelled of cigarettes. The next room had a puddle of water coming from the A.C. I didn't realize it until I stepped right into it. However, I did not bother changing rooms at that point... All night long I heard bumping, jumping and running above me. I usually have nice experiences, but unfortunately, this was bad...

Update - The General Manager is aware of the concerns and is going to do whatever it takes to bring attention to the matter. I was there while work was being done so, I hope things improve by next visit.

Breakfast was yummy. That's the good part. I would NOT recommend Anyone to stay here, ever. The walls are paper thin! I could literally hear the normal conversation happening in the room next to me. The first night we stayed, someone even got arrested! Not cool! They let drunks hang out to all hours. Rooms are old and dated. Coffee is good.

My stay here here was okay. The hotel is on par with most hampton inn's but could use a bit of cleaning. Floors were sticky (though it was a hot summer week, bathroom in my room had some corners that could use some cleaning attention (dust, cobwebs, and dirt).

The room was otherwise good, bed was comfortable and the size was nice.

Edit: I stayed here again in August of 2017. Largely unchanged but I wanted to add some comments.

I was initially placed in an old smokers room. It reeked of cigarettes. I to the front desk and they happily gave me a cleaner smelling room (one that was never smoked in). The hotel is now non-smoking but it didn't used to be and some rooms smell like smoke.

I also used the fitness center this time. The "gym" is tiny but works. There is a treadmill, an elliptical, some medicine balls, and no room otherwise but it's enough if you just want to get a small run in.

Horrible stay. Booked suite with whirlpool and when we arrived we were given a regular room. When spoke with desk and showed them reservation they said it happens a lot, and we were stuck with a regular room even though we had paper work showing we had reserved a suite. The telephone in our room did not work. Water fountain in lobby broken. Ice machine on 1st floor out of order. Parking lot very dirty. Shaddy people hanging around and rude staff. We will not stay at this hotel again and would not recommend it. Have never had so many inconveniences at a Hampton.

Carrie was friendly and made check in a breeze. The rooms were large a d clean. The beds were bouncy and too soft although we had a good night's sleep. The toilet was low to the ground and made a challenge getting up a d down. The internet was terrible, the worst of any hotel ever! Worse than what dial up was!

::Update:: July 2019.. night and day difference from the last time I stayed, it was clean, the lobby was clean, the room was very humid when I went in but turned it down to 64 and high and it was good. Very nice front desk!

Aug 2018: Possibly the worst Hampton I've stayed in.. I like to be positive but if you are looking for a relaxing stay there are better options in town

We had the worst experience ever in a Hampton at this hotel. I have stayed here before, but it has really gone downhill. During our weekend stay of 2 nights we experienced alot.
One elevator was out of order, and the other elevator only half worked. The pool had unsupervised under-aged children in it misbehaving while my grandchildren and I were trying to swim, one of them using the life raft as a toy, throwing it and other things. My room had half used shampoo and lotion and smelled like smoke and also a mildew smell in bathroom. My bed was very comfortable though. Housekeeping left toiletries as requested.
My son and his family's room did not get cleaned by housekeeping, and we heard 5 others had also complained which also included my sister's room and my parents room. The air conditioning in the lobby and breakfast area did not seem to be working. Breakfast was about the only good thing and the person working that area did a good job. Samantha at the front desk was more than helpful and apologized for things, however she was working several shifts with hardly any breaks and her child hanging out in common areas all day and all night. (Probably so she could see her?) I felt like I couldn't relax in the break area with all going on. A man puking all night in the room beside me, a loud group of men arguing in the hallway, and a speaker phone conversation in the hallway at 3am was ridiculous. After my many years (30 plus years) of coming to Buckhannon at least 1 time per year, I have never had an experience like this. I will not recommend or stay in this hotel again. This hotel needs lots of attention.

Staff was nice and helpful. Breakfast was good, bit of a weird selection for me. The only thing I have to gripe about is the fridge in our room didn't work. We were told this but when we got to our room it was just sitting in the middle of the floor... And the pool was closed for most of the stay we were in the hotel. And i understand that no hotel has supervision in the pool or gym areas but it was most unenjoyable for the other kids to be breaking almost every rule while we were there. At least check in on these areas... other than that it was clean, comfy, we stay once a year.
