The Pastrami Sandwich was ON POINT. The footling was much bigger than a foot!
Got my son the BLT- super basic, nothing special, tomato was not ripe🥴.
We also ordered a side of the chicken lemon rice soup. It was so so.
Just an honest review, I'd get the pastrami again!

I was craving a good sandwich and decided to try this spot out after seeing some pictures online. I am glad I did! I ordered the footlong philly cheeesesteak sandwich with fries. Wow, this is a great combination of quality and quantity. There was plenty of meat, cheese, onions, and mushrooms. The bun was perfectly toasted as well. You will not leave hungry! Gus's has plenty of seating, and there is ample parking. The lady at the counter was very friendly and the restaurant feels like a cozy diner. I will be back for some more sandwich or pizza deliciousness. This is a hidden gem if you are not familiar with the area. Eat up!!

Gus's is one of a kind, and has delicious food and kind staff. I love and recommend the hot pastrami. Please be aware that this is a huge sandwich and can easily feed more than 2 people. They can halve it, but each half is still the size of my arm haha. Its delicious and makes for a great midnight snack if you dont finish it while you're at the restaurant.

PASTRAMI!!! One of the best PASTRAMI sandwiches I've ever had! This place is great. Huge portions. The staff is nice and respectful. Restaurant is always clean also. I come here every chance I get.

Hidden Gem in La mesa one of the best Philly cheesesteaks I have had and definitely the biggest this thing was HUGE I mean HUGE they definitely dont skimp on the food the meat was delicious perfect seasoning great cheese ratio I got the 12 inch and it would definitely feed two people the French fries were good service was outstanding plenty of parking definitely should try this place this was my first time here next time I will try the pastrami sandwich

I've been coming here since moving to La Mesa in 2017 and I have never been disappointed at this place. Service is always good, food good, and decent prices. Whenever I can't decide what to cook at home this is my default, go to place. Plus it's a local mom and pop, got to support the community! We do dine-in, takeout, Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner; it's all good.

We are lucky to be a mile to this great place. Their breakfasts are fantastic, we love their outdoor seating, and their Greek Pizza is phenomenal. And this is from someone who grew up in New Jersey! They are also willing to grill the onions on the Greek Pizza instead of putting them on raw. This is a request I have made to other pizza establishments, but Gus's is the only one who would do it. The staff is friendly as well.
