They definitely know how to advertise. We had a very basic room advertised as 2 queen beds, they were full size...maybe. The restaurant was nice and the staff were fairly friendly. The food was tasty but overpriced and very few menu options. We ate in the first night and left for dinner every other night. We stayed Sun-Fri and wished we had only stayed 3 nights. The water park was alot of fun on the days there weren't 7 school field trips going on, lines became very long and unsupervised kids were pretty rowdy. Areas became very full and sometimes we couldn't get down the hall ways because there were so many preteens sharing outlets, not sure why there were so many groups of people that obviously weren't hotel guests. All in all it was a decent trip for us and our 3 children, but we definitely WILL NOT be back. This place is only fun if you have alot of money to spend. Would not advise taking children under age 4 as they spend alot of time watching older siblings have fun.

I'd like to start off by saying I've never experienced such a friendly staff all around. Every single staff member we passed greeted us or interacted with us genuinely in some way. So friendly and welcoming.

The rooms were great- nothing too fancy, but worked for what we needed.

Kids loved the indoor waterpark. Big enough to keep them entertained, small enough to not be too overwhelming.

Easy to get to with lots near by to eat and activities to do.

NEVER BUY A GROUPON AND NEVER BOOK HERE! We got a Groupon for a 2 night stay. My daughter was sick the day we were supposed to check in. We knew we couldn’t adjust the reservation but we still wanted to come for the second day of our trip. Because we weren’t checking in that day, despite having already paid for the room for 2 nights, they would not honor our reservation. They simply kept our money and wouldn’t let us use our room for any part of our stay! These are the rules that Great Wolf imposed on the Groupon. We contacted Great Wolf support, who told us to go to Groupon, who told us to go back to Great Wolf since the restrictions around not being able to cancel or change the reservation or even use part of the reservation were imposed by Great Wolf. What an absolute scam. I am glad we didn’t go however because they nickel and dime you. Parking is $15 a night … ridiculous! We will not ever stay here.

We’ve chosen Great Wolf Lodge for short getaways for over a decade because, compared to other options, it fit our budget. This was our first trip back to the Dells location since the pandemic and the opening of the Chicago site—and it will likely be our last. Somewhere along the way, the experience shifted. From daily parking fees ($15) to charging separately for the cone and the ice cream, it all started to feel more like a cash grab than a family-friendly resort.

We understand that costs are rising everywhere, but if your business model relies on nickel-and-diming customers to stay afloat, that’s a red flag. And if you don’t need to do that to stay viable, then you’re simply taking advantage of loyal guests. The park already feels dated, so either way we’ll be exploring other options for our next trip.

Overall we had a good time here at Great Wolf Lodge. It was our first time, so wasn’t sure what to expect. The rooms were nice and spacious which gave us plenty of room to play with our toddler. As far as service goes, they do not clean your room until you check out and do not replace your towels unless you ask for more. There is also no breakfast included.

The pools were nice as there were plenty of toddler areas to hang out in. As far as safety goes, the Cub Paw Pool is not up to standards so be on watch at all times if your child is playing in this area alone. All of the netting has attempted to be repaired, but a child could easily fall through all the way around. It needs to be completely repaired at this point. Not safe for the littles. Same with the slide in this area, I can’t tell you how many kids I saw hit there head on the bar that goes across and end up crying (including my own child)

Well I had a long review typed and backed out of it. Great resort for kids and we enjoyed every minute. Cannot express enough how great the staff is with kids. They took the time to get our little girl hanging out with the characters by day 3. The clock tower is excellent and I really hope they do not do away with it. There was around 35 kids at the 8am tower all enjoying it. Go to as many as you can. If they do away with it, i hope they put something equally as good in its place vs a boring empty lobby. If I want that, I'll go to a regular hotel. The place is showing some age but the kids don't care. This is great for toddlers and 4 days/3 nights is probably the most i would go with young ones. Any longer and it might get exhausting. We have stayed at other resorts and they have other attractions and might be a bit nicer, however, they are more expensive and the little ones cannot go on all the attractions. This was our first resort stay with a kid, but we have been to the dells many many times being only 2 hours away. There are plenty of slides to take toddlers down in a double tube or without a tube there are some shorter ones they can go down by themselves. Water temp was great in all areas except where the big bucket is. That was cold, but they were also doing maintenance outside with a slide so might be why. Not a big deal since our little one didn't want to be there. We crossed paths with Wendi on day 3 and our little instantly connected with her. Extremely grateful for her energy and passion for making kids happy as well as all the staff here. Whoever is responsible for hiring, training, and creating a welcoming culture... Job well done and you are appreciated.

Overall, we enjoyed our getaway at The Great Wolf Lodge in the Dells. Positives include: (1) Condo style room was comfortable and well maintained. (2) You never have to go outside! This is a positive in January! (3) Variety of water activities in the large water park! I think our kids will enjoy it more when older...they are 3 and 1 now. (4) Staff was friendly and helpful. Negatives include: (1) Our main complaint is that we wished the water temperature was warmer. Our kids lips were blue sometimes. We were all a bit uncomfortable. (2) We wanted to warm up in the only hot tub, but it was packed (likely because other people felt the pool water was too cold also!). (3) Lap riding on slides isn't allowed. This was a huge bummer! We wished we could have gone down slides with our 3 year old. He was too afraid to go alone, so we couldn't do slides. (4) Our 3 year old son didn't like the dump bucket one bit. It was too loud and he hates getting water in his eyes. That entire segment of the park was no fun for him. (5) Food was edible but not great and the prices are high. (6) Water park was very busy and we visited during the week. Side note: Keep in mind that you will be seeing lots of obese people in swimsuits... (7) My son and I have sensitive skin and eyes. I know it's inevitable, but the chemicals in the water gave us both rashes and our eyes burned.

I guess I didn't feel I got real value for my money, and I'm really starting to hate the "resort" model: nothing is included, and everything costs more than it should. Even the choice hotel line has free continental breakfast. At the Great Wolf Lodge, I paid over $100 for my kids to eat a pancake and a sausage patty. For a "family friendly" place, they will nickel and dime you to death. The water area looked scuzzy/grimy like it hadn't had a deep clean in a long time. The communal hot tub had a large quantity of floating brown chunks in it, and surprisingly, people were still sitting in it. The wife thought it was weave, I thought it was feces. Needless to say, we were glad we were leaving. But hey, you get free wolf ears. As for the rating, the rooms were decent, and the staff was as well. The location is great if you're coming in from the east. But all this doesn't offset the cleanliness of the attractions and exorbitant pricing.
